The StealthXStream from OCZ is designed to do its job with a minimum of fuss and bother. That’s why they painted the housing and fan grill black and used a fan with no LEDs. The PSU will supply power quietly and efficiently letting you get on with your work with no distractions.

The PSU is ready for your SLi or CrossFire configuration with 2xPCIe connection. There are also 6xSATA, 6xMolex and 2xFloppy connector so you load your system however you need to. A four rail configuration balances the power output for consistent performance.

Keeping it cool is a 120mm fan and an openwork grille on the back panel. It all leads to an 80% efficiency rating to keep your power costs down.

2 out of 5 eggsBurned out after 16 months

Pros: Worked fine until it died. Maybe a little loud. 3-year warranty. Jury's still out on OCZ's RMA response time.

Cons: When it died, it filled the room with a burning smell, then shut off. After plugging in a new power supply, I found out that it took my video card (eVGA nVidia 9600GT) with it, so I had to replace that too.

3 out of 5 eggsDied after just over 2 years

Pros: Quiet, nothing to complain about while it was alive.

Cons: Literally burned out after 2 years, 3 months. All it did was emit a burning smell and shut off. Jury's still out on whether or not any other components were damaged.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsDiscontinued but to those who wonder when it dies..

Pros: Worked great for a little more than two years with more light than heavy use. Ran a quad core and a GTX 260.

Cons: Started smelling like burnt plastic in the room about a month ago. I recognized it as the PSU but in a last effort I thoroughly dusted out the computer and reset the CPU heatsink as it wasn't cooling the CPU as well as it should have. Worked without problems for another month maybe, then started smelling again, hard failed last night, and will not start again.

Other Thoughts: Went gracefully, didn't fry everything else in the process of dying. But I really didn't stress it anywhere near what it was supposedly capable of. Don't buy this product.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the problem. Please visit the link below and create a support ticket to contact our staff. We will be happy to arrange for a replacement unit. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsPoor craftsmanship.

Pros: Price (as I got it on sale)

Cons: Died within first three months and when it went out it surged my whole computer frying my mobo and gpu and costing me more in RMA then what I paid for it.

Other Thoughts: If anything it was a good way to get a PSU that worked in my system after the hassle of three RMAs of the PSU alone then having to RMA the mobo that it killed and the Video Card. So in the long run I will say, if it works be happy but if not you may end up like I did spending a lot more on RMA then the price of the PSU. Though I will say I am glad OCZ is teamed up with PC Power and Cooling, that is about the only good that came out of it.

1 out of 5 eggs2 year then Death

Pros: works very well for the first 2 years
didn't have problem with powering everything
no smoke when it dies

Cons: it dies after it hits 2 years, it starts to smell and then it just dies and won't turn on.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: Arrived Timely
Plenty of Cables and Length

Cons: Failed twice now in a short period of time. I have never had a power supply fail this much and I don't not have a heavy load on this power supply.

The original one I had started smoking and I smelled electrical burn smell. It then hard failed to never boot again. It was replaced under warranty, now the current one that is the replacement is producing the same smell and is failing.

Other Thoughts: I give 2 eggs for newegg's shipping and service also because of OCZ honoring their warranty. I have to say though this is ridiculous failure rate

3 out of 5 eggsDied after a year and a half

Pros: It worked, it wasn't all that loud.

Cons: Well, after I started a large video process analyzable which took 3 and a half days of straight use of ~99% CPU usage. My Battery backup was reporting it using only 340 Watts of pull(Its accurate within 3 watts for sure). My case is a wind-tunnel case with dual 10 inch diameter fans, it was adequately ventilated. Anyway, midway through the process, two days in, It started making that PCB baking smell. So I ramped up the fans and the smell sorta went away. However, after 2 weeks of idle use after this event, it died, and left the room smelling really bad.
The fan within started rattling also near its death. I suppose the fan inside the unit is the cause of death.
I don't think I'll be ordering from this company anymore. Thanks for the ride.

Other Thoughts: What good is a Power Supply if it can't even hold half its Maximum output for 3 full days? And this is counting the inefficiency!

1 out of 5 eggsIt Caught FIRE!!

Pros: Quiet Power explains the workhorse contained within this PSU.

Cons: It runs hot, I mean i could feel the outside of my PC where the unit was ant it would burn your hands at time. I kept it clean and installed extra fans solely for the PSU and it nursed along for 3 years. One day it caught fire.. i mean burning smell and charred wires. Most of these didn't last 6 months before going up in flames.

Other Thoughts: Honestly though, this PSU is badly designed, there is a ton of comments on here of it bursting into flames and in some cases burning up your mobo. Do not buy this PSU. do your self a favor and google the OCZ Stealthxstream series you will find a ton of hate for its overheating, fireburning, waste of a space. i bought many parts from OCZ for my gaming rig and that this piece of junk made it past quality control just saddens me as a long time OCZ fan.

Out to buy a new one today, Going Antec. I would suggest the same if you got the $$. OCZ i love your ram, but you need to fire your quality control team.

Also last note. They will not fix/replace anything this PSU Fries on your computer.
