2 out of 5 eggsocz 550 w fatal1ty

Pros: I bought this PSU in 2010 and it ran good for just over 3 yrs.

Cons: This thing ran like a champ for 3 yrs and 2 months then it just died ed. Checked the leads with a meter and found one of the 12 v pin in the 24 pin MB connector had 0 Vs. like some of the other reviews on here, it lasted till just passed the warranty date then died.

Other Thoughts: This will be the last OCZ PSU I buy. Already ordered a Corsair.

1 out of 5 eggsBurnt up after 15 mo.

Pros: They honored their warranty after I shipped back the toasted unit.

Cons: This supply worked for 15 months, then on startup, thick smoke came from the supply. I carried the computer outside, but the damage was done. My house smelled from the acrid smoke of their combusted psu for months afterward. One of my hdd's did not survive.

Under the warranty, they sent me a refurb unit. I'm sure never going to risk using it or any of their products!

4 out of 5 eggsgreat while it lasted...

Pros: modular, heavy and quiet, pushed my hd 4870 and q9650 overclocked stable for these last three years

Cons: fan spins intermittently, i guess its on its last leg and gonna take a dump soon so i will be shopping for an new psu right now while i write this final review. bought this May 2010 and now 3 years and 10 months later my computer keeps locking up and hangs during boot. all my ocz psu have never failed during warranty period, but they always take the dump within the year out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: my rig:
intel q9650 w/zalman 9500
asus maximus II formula
ocz ddr2 reaper pc-8500 8gb
asus dvd-rw x2
ocz vertex 2 ssd
seagate 1tb
wd 1tb

as you can see i was a big fan of ocz products, but their days are coming to an end sadly. it was the best of times and it was the worst of times

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Little Power Supply

Pros: Silent Operation, Does not produce lost of heat, modular cables make connection to hard drives and other periferals a breeze, red internal fan.

Cons: Not enough modular connections for a serious editing/gaming setup, afraid that it wouldn't be able to handle powering multiple hard drives and two video cards (only have one now) Modular cables are thick.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a temporary solution to my OCZ Fatality Series 1,000W modular supply that fried due to water damage. So far it is able to keep up with the same internal components and handle the huge 97x Asus Board. It feels flimsy compared to the 1,000 watt but its doing its job. Hoping it lasts me a while until I can shell out $360.00 for a new power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsOwned for 2+ years, and going strong

Pros: Powers a good number of devices, support for two or more graphics cards using 6-pin cables, ESP/12V support,

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: I have used this PSU for more than two years, and it still works great.
I've used it to power my i5-3570K (oc'd), two GeForce GTX 660's (oc'd), four 3.5'' (S)HDD's, one SSD, eight 120mm+ fans, four DDR3 1.35/1.5v RAM sticks, ect. This PSU is more than adequate for my needs with all this hardware. I have never had an issue with not enough wattage/voltage being supplied to my PC.
I would buy another one of these for an upgrade, perhaps the 750W version next time!

3 out of 5 eggsDied after 3.5 years

Pros: * Ran solidly for 3.5 years running 24/7
* Ran quietly
* Modular design
* PSU died peacefully without damaging rest of PC components

Cons: * This was the first PSU I've had die on me.
* Just died 7 months out of warranty

Other Thoughts: I'd buy this model again at the right price.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed

Pros: Fit in the Lenovo E6550, modular design - nice cords.

Cons: Failed just days after the three year warranty ended. Very light duty use, not many hours and not heavily loaded so the failure was a total surprise. Emailed OCZ numerous times, warranty end date is set in stone, they say sorry it failed, buy another one. Guess what, it is not going to be OCZ, probably good considering their recent bankruptcy filing,.

Other Thoughts: Shouldn't have purchsed an OCZ, won't again.
