5 out of 5 eggsGreat and very happy

Pros: There are many things that I really like about this PSU. Let’s start with the cables; I like the fact that it’s truly fully modular. On a few of the reviews I have seen some comments are negative about the 24 pin cable being modular in my personal option this is a big plus. If I need to take the power off the board I don’t need to put my hand near the board “increases the chance of ESD” I can quickly disconnect the cable at the PSU. Faster and I don’t have to worry about damaging my Mobo or unplugging some of the small front panel wires just all around easier. The cable selection that came with the PSU varies in a good way. I have a bottom mounted PSU and I am running SLI the cables are all long enough that I can run them in a nice and neat way for good cable management. The PSU came with a nice bag to keep the unused cables in that was a nice extra that was not in the picture.

Cons: There is not much I don’t like about this unit. The only little thing I can say that the packaging has this little insert that I just don’t like. Call me to picky lol.

Other Thoughts: I am really pushing this PSU I am running a nice gaming rig with two Vid cards that I also use to create music with “Magix Music maker”. I have both my video cards over clocked and my Mobo along with my Intel XMP memory at 32 gigs pushed to the max. I also have a few extras installed and the PUS has had no hiccups and has been nothing but great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Efficient
Quiet
Didn't blow up my stuff like Cooler Master likes to do
Lots of power
Modular
Was on sale for CHEAP
Comes with lots of velcro straps for cable management

Cons: The cables will tear your hands apart, my fingers looked like shredded hamburger when I was done plugging everything in. It's expensive when it isn't on sale.

Other Thoughts: This was my 2nd OCZ power supply, my first one was a 600 and it was not powerful enough to handle the SLI setup I wanted to do. Unfortunately I bought a Cooler Master PSU and it ruined my MOBO, Hard drive, and Blu Ray DD. I RMA'd and bought this instead, I couldn't be happier with OCZ. The 600W I bought from them was still going strong after 1.5 years.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues to date

Pros: Didn't buy this unit from NewEgg but wanted add my review. First off modular is the way to go! So far this unit has performed flawlessly in my system. I've got a Z77 Sabertooth, 3570K OC'd to 4500 ghz; 2x 660TIs SLI/OC'd, 4x4 Vengeance RAM, 2x 7200 RPM HDD and 1 x SDD and not one issue from this unit yet. My system is not a 24/7 build, I typically game between 2-3 hours a day so that should give a sense of how much stress I put the unit. If the unit lasts and I hope it does, I should be ready for any future upgrades, whether its a new chip or GPU(s). The price was also very competitive compared to the other units with similar specs.

Cons: Like others have commented, the cables are stiff and your fingers will ache after bending and zip-tie-ing them, but I think the stiffness is fine, but it would have been better justified had they been 1-2 inches longer for easier cable routing/management. Because of this I had to buy extensions to manage my cables in and around my 300R (a mid-tower case).

Other Thoughts: A longer 24-pin cord and longer 6/8-pin CPU cord would make cable management much easier and less painful on the fingers. I decided not to knock off an egg because the unit itself is solid had has performed without issue in my OC'd system (so far) and OCZ didn't take shortcuts on the materials which is always appreciated. Also an added bonus, I have not noticed our energy bill go up since so I get to have fun without feeling the added pain in my wallet!

3 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted.

Pros: Efficient, quiet, modular.

Cons: Worked for less than a year. Actually, 6 months into ownership it began to intermittently cut off and I would have to turn the PC back on. Now it's just completely dead.

Other Thoughts: 3 eggs. 5 for being great while it lasted, -2 for not lasting. Will update if OCZ takes care of it in a timely and fair fashion.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Tam,

I am sorry to read of this failure. The ZX-series PSU are extremely reliable and reading of a failure is disappointing. If you have any issues at all with the RMA process please contact me via rcampbell at ocztechnology dot com and I will investigate and assist however possible. It is important to OCZ that you receive a timely and appropriate replacement.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
OCZ Support

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the Best

Pros: I love this power supply, well worth the money. Cable are durable and designed to keep cable management tight. I received little velcro straps that I use everywhere

Cons: No light, I knew that before ordering though.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -SLI Support

-Fully Modular meaning that you only have to plug in what cords you need to power your rig

-Comes with all the cords packed neatly into a pouch, allowing you to store the unused cords neatly

-all cords are labeled on the connection ends, allowing a new builder know what plugs into where

-Several cords come with mollex Plug connectors, with was perfect for me as I had several case fans that were mollex plugs

-Pretty quiet. You can still hear it, but just barely.

Cons: -ATX power cord is stiff, big and bulky. seriously, i had to angle my hand in weird directions to plug it into the mobo and then into the PSU, and I Ended up cutting myself a few times on the different sharp edges of various parts

-Some cords were too short, and cable management was difficult and nearly impossible.

Other Thoughts: Not Really a con of my own, but my parents -especially my father who's an electrician- has asked and wondered if the PSU will make our power bill take a jump (our area pays through the nose for power as it is). My parent have yet to let me know it the PSU has made the power bill higher

2 out of 5 eggsDependable but cables ruin it

Pros: Fully modular. I've had the unit for over a year and I have yet to have any dependability issues running two 6970s in Crossfire.

Cons: Other reviews which mention the stiffness and inflexibility of the cables are really understating the problem. These cables are absolutely impossible to work with in a mid-size case (Corsair 500r). They're so rigid and bulky that cable management is extremely difficult. Their stiffness also puts a really worrying amount of strain on the components they plug into: my GPUs are both slightly bending downwards because of the PCI cable stiffness.

The cables also tend to be too short: like many others I had to buy a motherboard power extension cable to be able to reach it.

The back end of the PSU with all these thick, rigid cables is a total unmanageable eyesore.

Other Thoughts: The PSU itself seems fairly high quality and very dependable, so I'm tempted to give this more stars. But the cable stiffness has just proven far too frustrating compared to every other PSU I've ever worked with.

If you care about case aesthetics and cable management I would look elsewhere. For the price I paid I really wish I had gone with something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Because this PSU is designed around dependability, stability, and performance, the Industrial-grade cables do tend to be somewhat rigid because we cannot sacrifice quality for flexibility. While your cable management needs may be more difficult, we hope the long-term stability and performance you will experience can sway your overall opinion. Thanks for your purchase!

5 out of 5 eggsLoaded!

Pros: Fully Modular! Will never by another that is not!

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Buy it but only if you have 1 graphics card! Get the big brother for SLI.
