5 out of 5 eggsOrphan?

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Fully Modular -but you knew that . Cables are plenty long.

Cons: Cables might be too long for some mid-tower cases.

Other Thoughts: OZC look to be going under and warranties will be problematic.

1 out of 5 eggsDead in 7 months

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: For ~7 months, this unit worked fine in my custom gaming rig. As it was my first rig, I might be biased, but this power units did every thing that it needed to do, except for having a long life.

Cons: As the title states, this unit was dead with 7 months. As I am not an expert with computer hardware, I had to take my rig to a local computer shop for a diagnostic to confirm that the power unit was dead.

I had origionaly compilied this rig with the expectation of overclocking in the future on an as needed basis. With an i5-3570k, GA-Z77X-UD3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard, multiple fans, and a 650 Watt power supply, I thought that I had a setup that would have lasted a couple years at least.

Other Thoughts: When I bought this, it had a nice rebate attached. Guess I get what I paid for.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't last very long

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: quite and lots of power amperage

Cons: Bought from NE 1/9/2012 and it just went bad today, 12/28/2013, but I have had weird crashes for several months and I now think they may have been this PS failing related as I got messages in Win7 after a restart each time that the "battery was low" This morning computer would not boot up, it kept recycling from off to trying to boot to off. finally had to turn the PS switch off.

Other Thoughts: Replaced with a temp PS and not problems so far

5 out of 5 eggsNice Power Supply

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: 1. Enough power for gaming with a GTX 760 video card, a Haswell i5 processor, an SSD, an HDD, and 6 case fans.
2. Quiet.
3. Stays cool to the touch when gaming.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Seems to provide stable power as I haven't had any issues with my PC so far.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Haven't gotten to try a working one

Cons: Came in and tried to set up computer with it a few days later after a test. But realized that it was dead. Sucks that I can't return it since I sent in the mail in rebate already since I didn't expect to build the PC soon before MIR expires. Note to self: always find time check the hardware

4 out of 5 eggsgreat buy

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: I got this at a steal for $50. This power supply is great with an efficiency over 80.

Cons: On the downside, the 4-8 pin to connect to the ATX is a bit short and just barely reach to the psu to the 4-8 pins. Wish they were a bit longer.

Otherwise i would recommend this psu.

5 out of 5 eggsScreams "I'm awesome!"

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: 100% modular, even the ATX power connection. 12V PCI-E power cables to acommodate both 6 and 8 pin video cards. Awesome color scheme and finish. High quality materials. The cables are high quality, as are the connectors. SATA power and MOLEX power connectors. Comes with a few zip ties. High quality packaging & manual. The label is reversed on each side, so no matter what orientation you put this PSU in, the label is always right side up! A nice touch and attention to detail.

And finally...

This sucker is solid. Just before I mounted it I could've sworn I heard it say, "Yeah bro, I'm solid. I was made to do this. Put me in the game, coach."

Felt like I was putting Peyton Manning in the last minutes of a college football game. AND WE WON!

Cons: One more set of SATA power cables would've been an excellent finishing touch. The rebate is an American Express gift card; no option for a good ole fashioned paper check. There goes my beer cash for the week. (I'm just grasping at straws here.)

Other Thoughts: You'd be hard pressed to find a better PSU for the price in this watt class. I spent hours looking and settled on this one. I'm 100% happy with my purchase and recommend this to anyone looking for a 650W fully modular PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsrecommend

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: Been running 24/7 at specified currents with no problem since installing in May.

For a modular, 650 watt, 80 plus rated PS the price was very hard to beat—69.99 with promo code, then 49.99 net after MIR that I received within time frame promised.

Attractive design looks great in my Cooler Master HAF 912 case

Cons: no cons

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

This review is from: FirePower ZT Series 650W 80Plus Bronze Fully-Modular High Performance ATX PC Power Supply ZT650W, formerly PC Power & Cooling

Pros: This is a great value PSU. It's modular meaning you only plug in the cables that you need, reducing clutter and airflow restriction. Installation is easy (just double check orientation of 24 pin and cpu connectors). 650w is plenty for my setup and 2 6+2 pin PCIe connectors is enough for low powered GPU's looking to run SLI or for higher powered GPU's that require two 6-8 pin connectors per card. The exhaust fan takes air in from the top of the power supply and exhausts it in the rear. Others my disagree, but I like this as it allows for a larger fan (the PSU is longer than it is tall) that can exhaust hot downward flowing air from the GPU. it helps that the fan also runs very quiet.

The packaging was simple but nice. One half of the box contains the PSU, the other holds the cables. The PSU is shipped in a cloth bag that is perfect for holding all of the extra screws, adapters, cables, tools etc that you end up with after installation

Cons: The PSU only includes one 12v rail. This isn't a problem, but two would be ideal for a more balanced load distribution. Also the 12v rail was shorter than I would have liked. It was not long enough to route behind the motherboard or to string around the rear case fan (so as not to block air flow) and must be plugged in directly. -1star

Other Thoughts: While I can't take off a star for the following complaint (because this applies to most PSU's) I felt it necessary to include in this review.

I really wish that PSU manufactures would make their modular PSU's more space-saving by also manufacturing peripheral cables (molex/sata) that offer only one connection with an adapter to add a second and third. So, if say, someone has 3 SATA devices that are two far apart to share a common SATA cable as well as only one molex, you don't end up with a mess of 5 extra unused connectors floating around in the case... Just a thought.
