3 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: The case looks nice and the aluminum can be recycled.

Cons: Unfortunately, the case is the only thing good about this enclosure. I bought 3 of these and after a year, only 1 still worked.

After a process of elimination by switching around hard drives and the wall wort power supplies, I figured out that the controllers had died.

5 out of 5 eggsworks just fine

Pros: the enclosure works beautifully, but in putting it together, i noticed that the circuit board is rather empty. the circuitry seems much cheaper than what was in the firewire 800 version of this enclosure, but that doesn't mean it's unreliable. overall, it works. it either works or it doesn't.

Cons: just like the firewire version, USB cable is WAY TOO SHORT. they should spend the extra 2 cents it would take to make it the normal length.

4 out of 5 eggsGood enclosure

Pros: Low price, good looking, works as intended. Overall no real complaints. Would be nice to get an esata cable with it, but that is not a biggie.

Cons: Case is a little shiny, makes it look cheaper than it otherwise would.

Have to hold the power button in for awhile to get it to shut down.

The included USB cable is the shortest cable I have ever seen! Has a filter choke, though...

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect...Almost...

Pros: Works as advertised/expected, performs very well and looks great doing it. :-)

Cons: No eSATA cable provided.

Other Thoughts: -1 egg for no eSATA cable being included. Come on....

5 out of 5 eggsIndustrial design at its finest.

Pros: A true aluminum chassis and internal frame, with only a non-structural plastic backplate, venting front to back, all mean the hard drive will not overheat. Triangle stand is also excellently extruded aluminum. Subtle, elegant styling and precise manufacturing, intelligent designing and solid, 4-screw drive mounting. Thicker, sturdier aluminum use than other external enclosures I have owned. This is the one I'll come to again (I have two already.)

Cons: They do not supply an eSATA cable, and the USB cable is possibly short for some arrangements.

Other Thoughts: I'd rather have an excellent enclusure (which I now do, with these) and get the cables of my choice, than have a free cable with an overall regretful purchase. Now that you know this, you can get some nice modder cables to suit this very worthwhile unit.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Enclosure!!!

Pros: -High tech design; immediately drawn to it
-Aluminum body has a very solid and rugged; build is very good quality
-Despite no fan, the body felt cool, luke warm after long sessions of use
-Installation of my drive was a breeze
-Nice blue power button; flickers to let you know disc activity
-Windows XP and Vista recognized my drive

Cons: Some very slight cons...
-The tray was a little difficult to slide out to install my drive
-The power button was flush when I received mine unlike some reviewers have reported. It felt a bit flimsy, just don't mash the button. Just a light touch is needed to power down
-Despite the slight cons, I love this thing!

Other Thoughts: -Used it run my backed up games on my soft modded Wii and it works very well!
-Looks really good next to the Wii

1 out of 5 eggsfailed to see drive

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Too cheap. It failed to recognized two different drives that I put into the case. Windows recognizes that a USB enclosure is attach, but drive management says that no media is attached and it doesn't sound like either drive even spins up.

Other Thoughts: I don't have an answer. I guess I'll try a third drive and then it is going into the trash.

4 out of 5 eggsGREAT

Pros: I love the design. It looks amazing and is heavy duty. or it feels like it is. Blue light is a plus too. Multiple ways to lay it use a stand, put the feet that it comes with on, or lay it down. Transfer rates are good too.

Cons: Like others have said it doesn't automatically turn on. but its not that hard to hit a button.

Other Thoughts: No eSATA cable :(

5 out of 5 eggsVery Shiny

Pros: I have bought five of these and I have never had any problems with any of them on any computer.

- Excellent aluminum construction.
- Looks amazing.
- Fanless and therefore quiet.
- No overheating problems.
- No performance problems.

Cons: The back plate is plastic. In a perfect world, it would be aluminum. Not enough to take off an egg for, however.

Other Thoughts: I've only ever put WD Caviar Greens in these.
