5 out of 5 eggsBETTER than advertised even!

Pros: - Supports BOTH SATA *AND* IDE 2.5" drives
- Supports eSATA (at SATA I/II speeds) and USB 2.0
- Comes with a small case and 3 cables: eSATA cable, USB to mini-USB and USB to mini-USB "Y" cable
- Switch for selecting eSATA vs. USB 2.0 interface
- Metal enclosure
- Long, reasonably large (not tiny) screws
- Not bad looking

Cons: Description says drive activity light, but doesn't seem to have one. Just the front lights when powered on, but doesn't blink.

Other Thoughts: - Newegg's description didn't mention it, but it looks like this enclosure supports either IDE or SATA I/II drives.
- The screws goes into a part of the extruded enclosure, but if you miss the hole part, they still go in, making you think that they're installed. Make sure you actually screw them in.

3 out of 5 eggsSlide Switch?

Pros: Slick little external. USB 2.0 works fine.

Cons: Documentation and back of box says move the slide switch between eSATA and USB. Back panel has no slide switch. No internal switch. Guess it's a USB external. See new egg pictures.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT Ok Gear

Pros: matte black finish - so no fingerprints

Cons: EVERYTHING. Buyer Beware!!! No screws for HD, HD didn't sit flush on circuit board so couldn't even put two screws at front near sata connection. Circuit board was dusty even like it sat in a warehouse forever before being boxed even. Barely fit into the enclosure due to HD being off the board... had to squeeze it a bit. Chrome face near logo was scratched.

BOTTOM LINE - POOR CONSTRUCTION QUALITY

best to look for another brand.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy one

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Fit!

Pros: As Advertised.

Cons: Instructions poorly written...mainly because of language barrier. No biggie though...

2 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: E-SATA works great.

Cons: With very light usage using the usb plugin, the plugin broke clean off the circuit board. Dont buy this enclosure if usb is going to be its main use.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks OK

Pros: I purchased this to transfer laptop hard drives. It works exactly as it is described. I like that it offers eSATA and because of this feature, it has saved me time on a few occations when cloning drives.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I keep a spare laptop hard drive in it for backups.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Cr*p

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: USB input on circuit board broke off the board within a few uses. I'm shopping for another enclosure to replace it.

Other Thoughts: Can't say they're all junk, but mine was.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Reliability. I bought six of these for work because some of our users needed more space than their internal laptop hard drives could offer. After almost a year of very heavy use with hard drives holding virtual machines used by developers, all of those chassis are still in service.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I rarely use the eSATA capability of the chassis. Our current laptops don't have eSATA ports, but the next laptops we buy probably will. I chose this chassis because I wanted the option to use eSATA later.
