5 out of 5 eggsSmall, travel charger

Pros: We bought this to charge batteries in our trips around the world. It works off any voltage and has no bulky adapters. Just a cord. Great for anyone who travels and want a smart, quick charger without a large adapter.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy, but does the job

Pros: The batteries seem to have a very good life span (as compared to standard Duracell). It does exactly what it is designed to do.

Cons: You can hear an intermittent noise while batteries are charging. It is a lower pitch and isn't very loud but I find it to be very annoying. The charger cord is also very short (approx. 3ft).

Other Thoughts: I gave it three stars because it does the job, I was just disappointed I couldn't keep the charger in my bedroom. For the price I am happy

2 out of 5 eggsGood and Bad....

Pros: Good at resurrecting dead batteries, charge batteries quickly. Okay when you have four known-good batteries that all have the same capacity and need the exact same amount of charge. (As batteries age, their capacity goes down. Pairing a 300 cycle battery with a new one is a bad idea with this charger.)

Cons: Unable to charge batteries individually -- this is potentially really bad. I had a set of batteries where one battery had gotten to the point where it wouldn't hold a charge. Since this charger charges them in pairs, it said the pair was charged when they weren't. I went to use the batteries, and several were dead. Thankfully, this happened during some informal photos, instead of a paid job.

If your batteries are known good and you charge 4 at a time, this charger does okay. If you're charging 4 batteries at a time, it charges at 1000 mA, which is a reasonable rate for 2000 mAh and up batteries (most of them on the market today). If you only charge 2 at a time, it charges at 2000 mA, which will have them charged in one hour -- but it will heat them up enough that their life will be shortened. It will fry AAA's to a crisp.

Go for the Powerex MH-C401FS or the Powerex C9000 instead. You'll get the money back quickly by not frying your batteries and having to buy them again.

Other Thoughts: I'm a professional photographer. If my batteries don't work, my flashes don't work, and I'm in big trouble. I currently own a Powerex C9000 and a Duracell CEF23 charger.

These charge the batteries individually and are good at slow-charging, which will make the batteries last _many_ more charge cycles. I typically charge my 2700 mAh batteries at 700 mA on the C9000 and my 2000 mAh batteries at 600 mA. The charge rate on the Duracell is fixed at something like 500 or 600 mA. The batteries stay cool and happy -- and they work very well for me.

BTW -- Energizer NiMH batteries stink. Go for Powerex/Maha or Sanyo. You get what you pay for. Duracell pre-charged rechargeables are great if they have the white ring around the + terminal button. People say they're actually Sanyo Eneloops, and I've had good luck with them. The Powerex Imedions are good, but the + terminal button is too short, and they don't work in some things. (They're great if they do work for you, though.)

5 out of 5 eggsNice Charger

Pros: Seems to charge quickly, and well. It's fairly compact and has a power cord as opposed to a power brick, which makes a bid difference in portability. The batteries that came with seem to work really well, of course they drain fairly quickly when not used for days or weeks at a time. That is not uncommon for this type of battery though.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would, and will, recommend to anyone in need of a nice charger.

This charger, in case you didn't already know, has a rejuvinate feature to revive older batteries/prepare new batteries. This feature seems to work pretty well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat charger

Pros: This is a great charger, it has a lot of good features and when used with the powerex batteries performs well (though it will work with any batteries of course). It even has a feature where it will 'revive' dead chargables so that they work again, so if you have some old one that just won't seem to hold a charge anymore, it'll get them working again.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this baby after reading reviews on a camera site and along with the batteries it has on it, it has served me well. I use the batteries in my Wiimotes and Camera and have since bought another 8-pack from Newegg. I plan to buy some AAA and another 8-pack of AA in the future.
