Charges up to 4 AA or AAA nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries

You can charge 2 batteries in approximately 1 hr, or 4 in about 2 hr

Does not require an external power adapter, as it has a universal power adapter built in. This fact, combined with the charger's compact size--comparable to a consumer digital camera--makes it easy to transport virtually anywhere. What's more is that the integrated adapter is a 100-240V, 50/60Hz power supply for international use, so you can take the charger anywhere without having to worry about voltage

5th generation Powerex Delta V microprocessor controls battery charging in a 4-stage process: Ramp-up, rapid charging, top-off charging, and maintenance charging

Ramp-up provides a jolt to new or old batteries, activating new ones and reviving old. The jolting consists of a series of carefully-timed high-current pulses

Rapid charging delivers a steady high-current charge to take batteries most of the way to their full capacities

Top-off charging provides an intermediate, medium-current charge to enable batteries to retain most of their charge

Maintenance charging offers a periodic, extremely low-current pulse to make sure batteries are charged but not overcharged

Battery conditioning feature rejuvenates batteries that were previously ready to be relegated to the recycle bin, whipping them back into shape so they can perform well again

LED indicator light that turns green when the batteries are about 98% charged

1 out of 5 eggsUseless - doesn't recognize NiMH batteries

Pros: none

Well, they're cheap, but that just means they're not worth returning, so even that is a Con after all.

Cons: I tried several different brands of AA NiMH batteries, and it just flashed red for all of them, meaning (according to the instruction manual) that it doesn't recognize them as NiMH batteries or that they're internally shorted. All of the batteries measure a little over 1.2 V on a Fluke digital multimeter, so there's nothing wrong with them. It's the stupid, useless charger.

Maybe it only works with their own brand, or only with new NiMH batteries, but that's NOT what the description says. It specifically recommends using it with old batteries, which mine are.

I bought two of these chargers, and both do exactly the same, so it's not just a lemon.

5 out of 5 eggsI got a charge out of it.

Pros: Small, simple. Seems to be well made. It really does fast charging and battery conditioning. I like the idea that it can have a set of four left in that will be maintenance charged and always ready. Putting two in automatically puts it in fast charge mode. Charging four at once puts it in slower two hour charge mode.

Cons: Only cons are that it is too simple. The directions were clear but there is only one indicator light. it tells by color and flashing whether testing, charging or failed battery/ies, and colors for refreshing/conditioning batteries to their full power. It works too simply. Just RTFD. (Read The Freaking Directions)

Other Thoughts: I have stopped buying the cheapest name brand rechargeables in favor of the newer Eneloop and MaHa batteries that hold their full charge until use. Now, since it really did recondition my old batteries, I have too many batteries and must use my old ones that will not hold their charge for a year first which is OK because all my "other" batteries are charged and ready to use whenever.
