1 out of 5 eggsBackup button does not support eSATA

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Backup does not support eSATA. I contacted the company a month ago and have yet to hear back. This case was not worth getting if every aspect is not working.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great, no issues

Pros: this case is priced below average for what you get. the one button backup capability and usb Y cable is worth the price alone.

Cons: non so far, have only had it about a month.

Other Thoughts: the case does appear cheap but you are not paying a lot for it. easy disassembly and drive mounting, once you figure it out. my laptop resently crashed so now i pretty much leave the cover off and transfer hard drives back and forth while waiting on another case. i have had no issues with this device.

2 out of 5 eggstry harder

Pros: included usb y cable is nearly worth the cost, usb works with win 7 and xp.

Cons: esata didn't work for me with xp or win 7. Didn't work with an external power supply I provided or with the included usb y cable. I even tried both power cables at the same time.

Other Thoughts: For the price I was willing to risk it.

5 out of 5 eggsSleek Glossy Case

Pros: This is the best enclosure I've ever had to date. It fits nicely in the average sized pocket and has a glossy look and feel to the outside of the case.

The 2.5" hard drive fits nice and snug inside the enclosure and comes with 4 screws to help hold it in place.

Cons: The only problem with this case, is the position of the eSATA port. Older eSATA cables with a shorter tip cannot be used for the computer to recnogize the drive.

This is an inconvenience, but does not impact my rating of this product.

2 out of 5 eggsKoutech Enclosure Faults

Pros: Doesn't Cost Much

Cons: Since the cost is so low, it cost almost as much to return it as it cost to purchase another one. You cannot access the files on an external drive through this product with Windows 7. The files are accessible through Windows XP. The product is made completely of plastic. The top was suppose to slide back for installation of the drive but was sealed. The bottom slid back instead which had no access to attach the hard drive. With difficulty, I pried off the top so I could use it instead of sending it back for a replacement. You cannot even format a drive with Windows 7 with this product.

Other Thoughts: This product would be good with Windows XP or older operating systems.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Worked with two old lappy drives right away. MB Pro recognized it and it works from one usb port although it provides a cable with two usb attachments just in case.

Cons: It looks a little cheap, but it actually is inexpensive.

Other Thoughts: Found an old 40 gig drive from a laptop and my old PS3 60 gig drive. I bought two enclosures and it works for both drives. Gave the 40 gig to my buddy as a present and it was a hit.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks Good, Works Good

Pros: - Enclosure has a tight and secure feeling seal when closed properly.
- Looks like a much higher end product.
- It just feels right in your hand, when your hard drive is installed.
- A Y-USB cable is included so ample power is met.
- If your USB slot(s) aren't providing sufficient power, the device will use what little power it is getting to beep at you, thus indicating that yes it acknowledges a potential active connection (ex: your laptop's USB slot), however it cannot fully turn on because there isn't adequate power.
- There's a little light that lights up to indicate power, and blinks to indicate activity. It's not bright so it's never a distraction.
- A small piece of adhesive padding is included, along with a few little screws. I had no need for the screws, as nothing lined up in the enclosure that could possibly merit the use of them, however i stuck the adhesive padding on the inside of the sliding cover towards the center, in hopes that it would reduce any drive moveme

Cons: - There's no external power supply (this isn't officially a con, since there's no indication of there being one included in the description or images).
- The cover's a little difficult to get off at first, but patience was the way.
- There's a touch of play in the enclosure, so there's this sickening feeling that without additional padding that the drive's inclined to move and even possibly become disconnected from the SATA connector inside; I remedied this with a piece of scour-pad sponge.
- There are no paper instructions in the box, but if you pop the included CD-ROM into your computer, lo and behold, instructions are to be found!
- The power/activity light is towards the end where the connections are, so if you're so inclined to tuck the drive in somewhere so as to hide the cable work, you're inadvertently hiding the indicator light as well.
- The enclosure doesn't entirely feel cheap, but the low price makes you question how much use you'll be able to milk out of this device.

Other Thoughts: I am using this drive mainly as a media storage device, which plugs into a brand new LG Blu-Ray player with USB playback capabilities.

I'm running a Seagate 250GB 2.5" drive I pulled from a 2-year old SONY VAIO. The drive gets a little warm when writing files, and you can feel some of the heat that's transferred to the case, but when it's being read by the Blu-Ray Player, it remains cool.

Using both USB plugs connected to my laptop, I copied just over 100 GB of data (predominantly large files, ranging from 500MB to 3 GB each) to the drive today, and the drive seemed to average about 27 to 29 MB/s, which I'd say is decent for any USB device. I did notice a 15 MB/s transfer rate with smaller files (2 to 10 MB), however this was also taking into account that I only had one of the two USB plugs plugged into my laptop at the time, so I don't know if a reduced power source could have been a factor.

Looks nice. Does the job decently. Longevity...?
