3 out of 5 eggsYear and a half? meh

Pros: Tons o' ports. Worked properly for about a year.

Cons: After about a year, it started losing connection to everything plugged into it whenever I would unplug or plug in something new. Then at a year and a half it quit altogether.

2 out of 5 eggspoor performance

Pros: Lots of ports

Cons: It never did work without the power supply.
About 3 months after I got it, it started malfunctioning and worked only intermittently.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate from October

Pros: Lots of ports

Cons: Does not work

Other Thoughts: I and the person with three of these who wrote the review in October, back with an update:
2/3 of these hubs no longer work for data transfer-AT ALL. They can still charge devices. I have tried them on multiple PCs on ports that work with other USB devices. Of the three, one works great; I am using one of the non-data capable ones for charging, and the other one is a paper weight.

1 out of 5 eggsShorts out your devices!

Pros: Um, half the ports worked for two months.

Cons: Out of the box, half the ports were dead; general logic would be to return the item, but seeing that my PC already has six USB slots, an additional seven was hard to complain about.

Out of the blue two months in, I started plugging devices into the Hub and BAM, they're shorted out forever. Two high end Logitech mice are down the tube never to run again. There are far better USB hubs out there. If you decide to go with this one, do yourself a favor and don't plug anything expensive in; you'll regret it.

2 out of 5 eggsFlaws are showing

Pros: Lots of ports
Worked really well at first

Cons: Might be failing after a couple of months

Other Thoughts: I have three of these. Two of them have recently been dropping the connections with docked drives. These are on two different PCs, and when I swapped in other hubs the drives work fine. I'm starting to think that reliability might be an issue with these hubs.

5 out of 5 eggsBest USB 2.0 HUB I've ever owned

Pros: The main thing about this product I have been very please with is the fact that it can actually keep a external usb hard drive powered up. In the past a some of the hubs I have purchased which don't have some sort of power supply aren't able to power usb hard drives that don't have their own external power supply verses just being power threw the usb cable itself.

The other thing I really love about this device is that it actually doesn't appear to lose to MUCH speed when you have several usb devices plugged into it even when you have 4 or 5 of them transferring data at the same time. Which to me makes this device almost priceless.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice if the price was about 5-10 bucks lower but honestly pretty much anything would be nicer if it was just a "bit" cheaper ....

5 out of 5 eggsExactly as Described

Pros: what can I say - you have 13 usb outlets! I dont know If I will be able to ever fill it up.

Cons: You may find it not the best that the outlets are on the outside, but really, if you are not picky, you wont mind.

3 out of 5 eggsok, but poor build quality

Pros: low profile, lots of ports, seems to have fewer problems with multiple devices of different speeds. I had difficulties with devices not enumerating with my previous setup -- three four-port hubs hooked up to my iMac. This gives me 13 ports and I don't have to worry about knocking other devices off the bus when I plug things in.

Cons: poor build quality. The power connector wouldn't stay connected (intermittent contact), so I opened it up, removed the connector, and soldered the power supply wires onto the pcb directly. Works great now. Also, the usb cable connector was messed up (had small bit of plastic stuck under one of the connectors) so I replaced that with another one I had laying around.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding product

Pros: -Sturdy enclosure
-13 USB ports, 4 on 3 sides plus a center flip-up port
-Low profile
-Self-powered (4A supply) or bus-powered
-All ports arranged horizontally such that plugs and thumb drives have enough space between themselves

Cons: -Flip-up USB port goes a little too deep inside the enclosure when closed so you have to wrestle with it a bit. Easy to fix though, just put a little piece of folded paper or something in the recessed area to keep the flip port from going down too far

Other Thoughts: I am thoroughly impressed by the material feel of this hub. It has a black-colored counterpart on Newegg as well that has also been highly rated. 13 USB ports! Also it was important to me that it came with an external supply for power-hungry devices, which it does.
