5 out of 5 eggsGood Enclosure

Pros: Very stable, allow for external power adapter, accepts 1TB drive is the biggest bonus!

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: Purchased two of these, works great for the past few month. Used it for backups. Sometimes, it slows down to a few MBps when copying small files, but deliver as high as 90MBps when transferring large files. It is reasonable as mechanical drives are not very good at handling small files.

4 out of 5 eggsSimple

Pros: 1. Simple to install.
2. Accommodates both 9.5 and 12mm thick 2.5" drives.
3. Faster than eSATA in transfer speeds, but not 10x USB 2.0. (For comparison, using the same drive but different enclosures: eSATA gives me average 61MB/s transfer speed, USB 3.0 gives me 71MB/s, USB 2.0 25MB/s).
4. The bag is big enough for both the enclosure and the cable-most of the drive enclosures that I bought in the past come with a bag that fits just the enclosure.

Cons: USB 3.0 cable is awkward. The main cable is too short, yet it has a second standard sized USB head on the other end that doesn't do anything. I guess it can be used for a drive that doesn't have that that new USB 3.0 micro connector (not sure what it is called, but common on USB 3.0 drive enclosures).

Other Thoughts: The curved design has no function whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Read speed with 1TB drive is about 90MBps, every fast! Write is about the same speed as the bare drive like 60MBps.

Cons: Very short cable, what are they thinking? I have to purchase an extension cable to make it more useful.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why other reviewer do not like it, it is not a nice looking case, but is big enough for 1TB drive. The design is not the best but it is not too expensive and serves its purpose. I would by it again.

1 out of 5 eggsKeeps disconecting the drive

Pros: Nice design, fits 12.5mm and 9 mm drives. It's fast

Cons: Keeps loosing power. The red light will turn off after a few minutes of inactivity and when you try to use it again it causes the port to disconects the drive. All data is lost.

Other Thoughts: AVOID at all costs. it is unacceptable that the power down not only spins downs the drive but looses the link

2 out of 5 eggsMy least favorite enclosure of all time

Pros: * Isn't defective
* Will accept the thicker (12.5 mm) 2.5-inch drives

Cons: * Inserting drive into case puts strain onto SATA connectors
* Drive does not sit securely in case - included rubber feet are useless
* Uses the rare (and stupid) micro-B USB connectors - this badly limits the supposed backwards compatibility of USB 3.0 devices with USB 2.0 cables
* The included cable is less than a foot long: I can't even reach from my USB plugs to the floor with that short little cable

Other Thoughts: Avoid this drive. Although it is not outright defective, it is very poorly designed and there absolutely must be better choices out there

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Metal lid, top and bottom. Single (powered) USB 3.0 cable runs either HD or SSD equally well. Cables are 1ft long which is perfect length for laptop to connect to drive and small to pack in bag. Looks great, professional, good indicator lights. Rubber feet inside (x4) hold drive in place without screws. I get over 100MB/s on old SSD (no cmd queue) using this chassis and USB 3.0 ExpressCard on laptop. It is slightly (1-2MB/s) faster than eSATA ExpressCard on same port and drives. Stays cool to touch. Detected by W7x64 with insert every time, much better than my eSATA ExpressCard and cables. Also, can handle the larger 12mm thick 2.5in drives.

Cons: I do not have the latest SSD (cmd queuing) so I did not test how it works with those, but no problems found so far. Specs say it works with drives up to 1TB, but did not test.

Other Thoughts: Using it with Koutech dual USB 3.0 ExpressCard is easy because card is powered with 5v from USB 2.0 port. No need to provide DC 5v to the individual enclosures.
