5 out of 5 eggsDoes What It Claims

Pros: The unit is compact without being micro-sized, and has a single blue power light so its not lit up like a Christmas tree. The box feels sturdy and the port plugs feel securely mounted. Two of the ports are located at the end, making quick access for flash drives. Both the USB cable and the power cord are good lengths; no extension cables needed.

Cons: No complaints, plugged it in and everything worked like its supposed to.

Other Thoughts: We're not talking about anything earth-shaking. But its nice to get a product that does what it claims to, works right out of the box, and has enough ports that there's 'room to grow'.

5 out of 5 eggsGood hub, worth the cost, could use larger wallwart

Pros: Lots of ports in a small powered hub. The ports aren't too close together so ports don't get blocked when you plug in the cables. It's a USB hub and thankfully not a mini-hub. Some USB devices have fat ends on their cables and some USB flash drives are fat, too.

Cons: Not really a 'con' but more a complaint about full disclosure. This really isn't a 13-port hub. It's a 12-port hub with an additional charge-only port. For gadget-hungry users, this can help provide an easy means to let them recharge their gadgets (one at a time if that's the only charge port to which they have access).

No LED on each port to show connectivity. Twould be nice but then something more to break plus it would consume more power (but probably not a big deal since this is, after all, a powered hub). There is a "power" LED since obviously this hub could also be used as a passive hub so this lets you know when [all of] the ports have power.

Note that although this item says it is a powered hub, it cannot be supplying the full 500mA per port even if you only count the 12 real USB ports it has. 12 x .5A = 6A. The power adapter has an output rating of 5V @ 4A. That's 2A short of providing .5A to *every* USB port. Then remember that the charge-only port is supposed to supply 1.2A. A 6A wallwart would be a lot larger so they would have to go with the inline power adapter (where the transformer and PCB are in a box in the middle of the cord, usually with 2 sections: output cord with power supply and power cord to wall outlet that plugs into the power supply). Still, it says ALL ports are powered or that is what the user is misled to believe. Don't expect to plug in high-power devices to every port. There just won't be enough power from the wallwart. So far, the only high-power USB devices I have is a headset and an external bus-powered 2.5" external 120GB 5400RPM drive. The printer, other external 3.5" drives (which have their own wallwarts for power), and all other devices are low power.

The charge-only port should be clearly marked since it's unlikely users will reference a manual when plugging something in awhile later. They'll have to first know about the 13th port being a charge-only port and remember that it's on the backside of this unit by the power connector.

Other Thoughts: With plenty of ports to connect cables, I figured it would be too likely to move around (and fall behind the desk since it's position along the back edge) due to cable strain. A strip of velcro keeps it in place on my desktop.

Other than it not truely providing .5A to every USB port (6A total for 12 ports) along with the 1.2A for the charge-only port which means the wallwart would need to supply an output current of 7.2A for worst case scenario (high-power device in every port and charge port inuse), I am pleased with this product.

3 out of 5 eggsiCharge port does not have connectivity

Pros: Has 13 ports. Hi-speed. Works across 32 foot cable!

Cons: iCharge port does not connect to the computer. It's just a charge port.
Expensive compared to other HUBs.

Other Thoughts: I probably would not have bought this - there are many cheaper ones - had I know the iCharge port does not connect through to the computer and only provides power.
