1 out of 5 eggsDANGEROUS, MELTED AND BURNED MY HAND

Pros: Worked at first

Cons: This is a SERIOUS message:
This item melted on my bed (plugged into laptop) and I didn't realize what the smell was untill I grabbed it and burned my finger. I think this item should not be available anymore it could burn a house down.

Other Thoughts: Please be careful.

1 out of 5 eggsShort Circuit

Pros: None.

Cons: Five minutes after plugging it in, it got VERY hot and short circuited. Shipping would cost more than the unit to get it replaced so that was money well spent. This unit is too risky to plug in anything that cost more than the hub itself.

2 out of 5 eggsGets hot, then dies

Pros: Small footprint. Works well with self-powered 1.1 devices.

Cons: Unit gets extremely hot when using 3 or 4 devices then dies after about 10 minutes.

Other Thoughts: I had the hub for a few months and recently it has been getting really hot, the connected devices will suddenly turn off. Now it doesn't work at all. I guess you get what you pay for...

1 out of 5 eggsGets VERY hot

Pros: None

Cons: The device is pretty small. The ports are too close together--especially for larger thumb drives.

The device says it's USB 2.0, but it appears to give up when connected to a USB 2.0 host. Works fine with older USB machines.

The first one I purchased got hot enough to melt the plastic in the center. I noticed when my devices started behaving funny.

The second one I bought a few weeks later gets hot, but not enough to melt. I'd go find something else.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 4 port self powered, no accessory cord to deal with, green led for "working/on" status

Cons: short usb cord

Other Thoughts: plugs and plays, Im running two external hdd's, a webcam and a multi-card reader and it doesn't skip a beat. A solid buy.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works just as I expected, very small which is good for portability. The connection is not too tight or too lose, it fits perfectly snug with my USB gear.

Cons: It had hardware conflict first time i plugged in (which I did correctly and without anything in hub) Then it found it 2nd time around. It uses "usbhub.sys" if you have issues.

Other Thoughts: It gets quite hot on the side with all the guts. I suppose this is normal for something so small, the heat has no where else to distribute. I'm using this as an hub for my 4 logitech gamepads. I'm afraid to plug in anything more beefy in fear of it popping! Is that a power jack on the side I see? I cant tell lol.
