1 out of 5 eggsI am sure this is a smart bet for the price

Pros: The price?

Cons: The Unit powered up and down intermittently for 30 seconds and then powered off for good. The enclosure does not work on any of my drives. I would exchange it for a new one if I have that option. Right now I have a piece of broken garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for light to moderate use

Pros: I would recommend this enclosure for light to moderate use such as the occasional drive clone, file transfer, or system backups.

Cost effective
Easy to use
Average transfer rates for USB 2.0
Aluminum case cools better then most plastic ones
Includes 'Y' cable supports power hungry drives

Cons: I would NOT recommend this enclosure for heavy use applications where it is plugged in all day. This is nothing against this enclosure in particular; I never recommend bus powered or fanless enclosures for heavy all day applications.

NOT a universal enclosure; supports 9.5mm drives only.

Other Thoughts: I find it strange they used a full size A-type connector on a 2.5"enclosure rather than the more common Mini-B type. This really isn't a positive or a negative because they include the needed cable, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Overall I would buy it again and I would recommend it to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, cheap method of storage

Pros: Cheap, Portable, well-built

Cons: Not as fast as a USB 3.0 drive. That much is obvious though.

Other Thoughts: I got this drive to utilize an old 750gig laptop drive I had lying around after I upgraded my laptop to an SSD. This enclosure allowed me to use it as a backup drive, rather than let it sit around collecting dust.

It's fast for a USB 2.0 drive, and it's well-built. I like the aluminum enclosure itself as it seems to be of high quality. The plastic ends and screws however seem cheap, and could strip easily. Be careful when you're putting it together.

I use this all the time now, and I may actually buy another for a second laptop drive I found lying around. At the price, this can't be beat.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: I've been using this enclosure with a 40GB hard drive recovered from my very old macbook. It works as advertised, and is a great value for money.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a Fan

Pros: The adaptor itself provides easy, fast, and reliable connections.

Cons: The enclosure sucks. Which I think is funny considering the enclosure (instead of an ugly 2.5" drive) is why one buys an enclosure, but I could be wrong. I used (from an expired Macbook) a 2.5" 160 GB drive and could not get both ends to close (let alone flush). The thickness of the drive (which has a slight bump (0.1 mm) doesn't allow its holes to sync up. Some may say I have a freak drive; I would say the enclosure doesn't offer enough height for all drives.

Other Thoughts: To sum up, the thing will convert your SATA to USB quite nicely, but the enclosure is not a universal enclosure. Buyer beware.
