4 out of 5 eggsSleek and sexy

Pros: It is made of metal which should help dissipate heat. It surrounds the drive tightly. It is thin and is contoured so that it feels sleek and sexy. Seems to work OK. I haven't run benchmarks on it, since I don't care because I don't do a lot of moving files back and forth off from it.

Cons: The screws used to assemble the case are VERY small, and the screwdriver provided is lousy (and not magnetized). This makes it relatively difficult to assemble.

Other Thoughts: As I put the drive into it, I invented many new and special words, and thought "I am glad I won't ever need to do this again". But I like the feel of the case so well that I will probably swap the drives between what I put in this case and a better drive that I put into another case that I don't like the feel of nearly as well. Technically both cases are OK, but the overall experience of carrying and using this case is superior.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's Metal!

Pros: Works for what I'm doing. The metal can keeps it cool enough. Mine (2 of them) have a couple of HGST 5K1000 drives in them. So far, they've worked well and painlessly. They look nice too.
I like the fact that they provided a (cheap) screwdriver. It worked fine - of course, I magnetized mine. :-)

Cons: No separate power socket. Oh well, they were cheap.

Other Thoughts: They are a tight fit for the aforementioned drive. However, they dropped right in with minimal fiddling. Just keep in mind that the human hand is really powerful compared to the size of these drives and their capacity for punishment. Bending the drive is entirely possible - shortening its life.
Oh yeah, try a small rare earth magnet to hold the teensy screws. It'll save you a lot of grief (and, no, don't stick it to the drive...)

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: Dead on arrival. Did not work when tried with two separate drives, a brand new SSD (that is now working fine in my 2009 13" MacBook Pro) and the 5400rpm drive I removed from said computer. No lights, no recognition, nothing. And it costs more to RMA the dead enclosure than the thing cost in the first place. Very dissatisfied.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for under $10

Pros: Small, sturdy, looks good, performs great.

Cons: Installation process.

Other Thoughts: The installation process was a little less smooth than I had expected, but not terrible. In order to properly put my hard drive into the enclosure, I had to take apart the entire thing, then put the hard drive with SATA-to-USB interface attached into the bracket, and finally screwing the top and bottom aluminum plates into it. Once put together, it was very sturdy and solid. Speeds are also a strong point for the enclosure, something I wasn't expecting from a $10 purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I purchased this for my 2.5' laptop hard drive that I switched out with an SSD. It operates as advertised and has a very sleek design. The connection is Mini USB which is really nice because of how generic that connection is. Its got a light which tells you if its on and running which is also nice.

Cons: It is very difficult to get the actual hard drive into the enclosure. I had to unscrew the frame and barely managed to shove it in there. Not a big deal, but if it had been even just a little smaller, My hard drive would not have fit.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what i needed

Pros: Does exactly what it says it does. When my laptop died out i went looking for one and found this. Worked perfectly and doesn't seem to have any problems. Cheap and fast.

Cons: The painfully small screws to mount it shut came included and with their own screwdriver, hard to get in but not bad enough to lower the rating.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: The hard drive was easy to install, and and fit tightly. The enclosure does its job. The case is rugged and has a solid feel to it.

Cons: The company logo is done with some kind of sticky paint. It comes off and makes a mess. The carrying case is cheaply done.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: It works as advertised. Sleek, sturdy, easy to install SATA drives and keep them secured in the enclosure.

Cons: Get's hot, especially when doing some file transfers.

Other Thoughts: Using it to backup all the data in my 5-year old HP Pav laptop before restoring it to its factory settings. So imagine transferring about 30 GB of data using this, then yes, it will get hot. Not bad enough to deduct eggs though.

4 out of 5 eggsgood value 2.5" enclosure

Pros: Nice build quality, simple & sleek design - fits like a glove. Very easy to install the drive - eight very tiny screws solidly hold the drive in case and hold the case shut. A tiny screwdriver was included as were two extra screws.

Cons: y-tail usb. Not sure if it is for power or speed, perhaps NOT a con?

Other Thoughts: Finally an affordable enclosure that is not ugly to look at or falling apart before it's together.
