1 out of 5 eggsBuy something else. Bad Customer Service

Pros: Worked for a few months.

Cons: Before a year had passed, the drive failed. Did the usual 100 questions from customer support in several rounds, is it plugged in, is it connected to the pc, is there a drive in the enclosure? Sheesh, c'mon guys the unit was working and now it's not. After determining the unit had failed, they just stopped communicating. Did they go on vacation or just don't want to be bothered with their warranty?

Other Thoughts: Buy a different brand.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: This is my third drive enclosure from this manufacturer and I have no complaints. Even though there were no detailed instructions for installing the drive, anyone who's handy with tools and has average mechanical ability should be able to figure it out.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsInsufficient power supplied

Pros: Quiet
Cool
USB3.0

Cons: I bought 2 of these units for a couple 1TB disks I have...
The units would drop connectivity or some times I had to turn it on/off several times to power up in the 1st place.

Other Thoughts: For the hell of it I decided to void my warranty and use 1 3rd party 12vdc power adapter that supplied a respectable 12v/5amps instead of the tiny 12v/2amp supply they include.

As I suspected all my con's vanished! The supply has never given me an issue since!

I suspect Sabrent tried to save a few dollars bundled these cheep 12v/2a supplies and never bothered to Quality Control them causing the majority of the negative feedback.

2 out of 5 eggsDied After Minimal Use

Pros: USB3 is fast. The fan is silent.

Bonus, I have a spare fan for the other enclosure thats identical to this one from another brand.

Cons: Died after minimal use.

Other Thoughts: I had used this enclosure a few times to back stuff up from my internal drives and it was working flawlessly for a few months of rare use. Then one day a month or so ago I copied over about 120gb of data to the drive and that worked fine, then I was copying some more over in smaller chunks and I kept getting an I/O Error and the explorer window closing down. I took the drive out and tested with another USB to SATA adapter and the drive worked flawlessly so it wasnt the 3TB drive I had inside it that was the problem. Im suspecting the enclosures controller board had been effectively overworked maybe and gave out. The thing is I have an identical enclosure from another brand and that one still works. So I think I am done with this brand. There is no reason why this enclosure should have died after such minimal usage.

1 out of 5 eggsDrops connection after 6 months

Pros: None.

Cons: I used once. Then it stayed unused for 6months. Then one day I started using and connection kept on dropping. I did disk-scan but that did not help. Then I used Rosewill Enclosure and same disk worked fine. I have 7-8 enclosures from Rosewill. This is my first Sabrent case and not going to recommend to anyone. I am using Elite Book 8570W laptop with Win7.

Other Thoughts: Connection dropping may corrupt data. So I am not going to risk using this again. Going to dust bin.

3 out of 5 eggsbad quality

Pros: I can connect my HD and it works.

Cons: The fan inside the case is not secured, and the wires snapped off very easily. This is a case of terrible materials, and cheap manufacturing.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for...

1 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible with 2TB+ Drives

Pros: Easy Assembly.

Cons: This enclosure is not compatible with either a 2TB or 3TB hard dirve. I bought this unit to replace an older USB 2.0 enclosure. However, this Sabrent brand unit was not compatible with 2TB+ hard drives (my old USB 2.0 enclosure is compatible with 2TB+).

Other Thoughts: I have since ordered a different brand USB 3.0 enclosure and my 2TB+ hard drives work great. I would not recommend this Sabrent brand enclosure for large hard drives. For test purposes, I had installed an 80GB SATA hard dirve into the Sabrent unit and it works fine for the smaller hard drive.
