Plugged it into the PC without the external power and was able to run two flash drives and two mice with no problems. Also had a self powered printer attached as well. The power switches are stiff, so I am not too concerned with accidental switching. Cons: The USB port could be tighter, just a little too lose in my opinion. Possible to accidentally disconnect. Other Thoughts: This was purchased for a customer to replace a four port hub. He only uses four of the ports giving him another three to play with. Did you find this review helpful? The blue light is a definate benefit to knowing what state that port is in. Very attractive price and well worth the money! Cons: None Other Thoughts: The USB cables can be a little cumbersome on any USB Hub, for me velcro works great! This is not a con, however to this unit, just a suggestion. Will come in handy to turn my Raspberry Pi on & off w/o having to pull the micro USB cable. Cons: Power supply is DOA. Going to have to return the unit. I didn't keep the packaging. Hopefully that won't be a problem. Other Thoughts: I don't recall seeing anything in the Tech Specs about the power supply ratings. It is 5V / 2A for those that want to know. The LEDs are not super bright like most are these days, and are easily covered by some electrical tape. Ports and switches are laid out thoughtfully, so that it looks attractive and wastes a minimum of desk space (no cables sticking out from every direction) Cons: Unless you plug in the AC adapter, the hub functions as USB 1, not USB 2. This is a minor complaint, but it wasn't very obvious. The front surface of the hub has a light up logo. Easily covered if that bothers you. The indicator lights bleed into their neighbors quite a bit. Other Thoughts: The description for this product did not match the picture, but I really wanted/needed a USB hub that let me turn devices off without unplugging them (because I'm lazy and want to disable controllers/cameras/headphones easily). The device does work as pictured, each of the seven out ports has a seperate switch and LED. The LEDs stay on whether or not anything is plugged in. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
