OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 550 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution). Could this be your next power supply?

Coulda been a contenda

white Reviewed By: on 6/8/2007

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: ~ It's q-u-i-E-T. (not "quiTE". DUH.)

~ Efficiency is very good.

~ Low ripple.

~ Stable voltages under load, when they're on spec.
Cons: This is a solid Seasonic design, but I think Antec cut a few corners here and it is thus overpriced at $129.99 MSRP. (Notice the price drop and rebates now offered.)

The +12V voltage on mine was measured on a good shop meter at 11.43V to 11.48V, which is around 4.5% variance. The +5V measured 4.83 (-3.4%). That doesn't meet the advertised spec of +/-3%. I would accept 5% tolerance from a generic PSU but not from a higher-priced, name brand unit. BTW, all other specs measured good.

I have to rate it "2-Poor" because it doesn't meet advertised spec. :(

It's probably just my luck but these things happen. I've had decent Antec supplies in the past.
Other Thoughts: Sending this one back for refund. I've already ordered a Corsair 520 - it's basically the same Seasonic design but built with top-quality parts.

Get a clue, Antec!

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Good clean power, what more can you ask for? Plenty of connectors, good cable length. Powers my new GeForce 8800GTX without a problem as well as 4 HDDs, optical drives, and a whole case full of gear without any trouble.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: As always, newegg rocks.

Poor Warranty Service

white Reviewed By: bullshark on 4/20/2009

Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: None that I know of.
Cons: Died by killing all fans, internal and external but kept on running the CPU. Did not shut down, nearly cooked my computer. Why didn't it shut down when it's own internal fan failed? POOR DESIGN.
Other Thoughts: Contacted Antec. "Sorry Charlie - no cross ship. No product in stock. No idea when it will be. Apply for an RMA, find yourself a box. Ship it to us. One day several weeks from now we'll send you one."

UNACCEPTABLE. PSU's need replacing right now. No excuse for failure, no excuse for not shutting down, no excuse for not having stock to cross ship.

I'll avoid Antec in all future purchases and recommendations.

Disappointing

Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: The second one was stable for a while.
Cons: I bought a Truepower 2, 550w - lasted exactly 1 yr, but was trouble from the beginning. The warranty replacement lasted 2 1/2 yrs. The 3 yr warranty begins on the date of original purchase and replacement parts are warranted only for the remainder of that period, so I'm out of luck.
Other Thoughts: I expected much better from Antec and $100. I've had much longer service from a $30 power supply. I always liked Antec products, but will never buy their power supply again.

Great Power supply

white Reviewed By: Evad on 2/2/2009
Rating + 5
Tech Level Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Very stable on all voltages. My old power supply would cause system crashes, but I have had no crashes with this power supply. My system is loaded, and this still has plenty of power to run everything, and then some.
Even when my system is highly overclocked, its 100% stable.
Cons: None that I have ran across so far.
Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this power supply to anyone wanting a good stable power supply. I am A+ certified in computer repair, and have always found Antec power supplies to be great performers. And as always Newegg is the recommened place to buy from!!
