Save the planet, save your wallet, and safely power your system with Antec’s EA650. Part of their EarthWatts line, this is one of the most environmentally friendly power supplies on the market with 80 PLUS certification signifying that it uses up to 33% less energy than a comparable supply without a reduction in performance, reliability or stability.
Active Power Factor Correction provides more efficient power frequency by up to 99%. Industrial-grade protection guards your components from damage caused by short circuits, over circuits, excess voltage and other hazards. Universal input allows you to operate your system on any power grid on the planet.
The unit is cooled by a 120mm low-noise fan which assists in keeping temperatures within your system ast optimal levels. The three 12V rails provide added system stability as they power the 6 SATA connectors and the 6+2 PCI Express connector. A three-year parts and labor warranty plus multiple safety certifications let you know that you’re buying a quality power supply.
Pros: At 650W, this PSU should have no problem powering a fairly loaded quad core system. Extremely quiet operation, highly efficient as an 80 PLUS certified PSU, plenty of power connectors for SATA and MOLEX. This PSU also has the 8-pin 12V EATX for motherboards and CPUs that make use of this type of power connector (recommended for Intel Quad core CPUs).
The Antec EA650 is a great buy - costs half of what most other well-known SLI certified, crossfire ready PSU's sell for online.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: 650W is plenty of power, don't get conned by 14 yr olds on the various online forums out there who insist on 800W+ power supplies.

Loud - if Silent PC is your quest, pass...

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Well, as far as reiliability this unit is representative of the great Antec brand...no issues. The cables are very long...clothes line long, so you can reach your devices no matter the case you own.
Cons: This is probably my fault but I just assumed that this PSU would be very quiet...it is not! Trust me...I own a Seasonic, a Cooler Master and even the Antec Neo 550 and 650 and this Earthwatts 650 PSU is substantially louder. At first I thought that it would only be loud when first turned on and then the fan would throttle back, but the fan runs at full speed the whole time. This is audibly louder than a Zalman VF700 running at 2,000 RPM's (and that's loud)...only around 2,500 RPM's the Zalman VF700 begins to be louder than this PSU. I also have 3 120 mm fans in the case (18db) and I can't even tell they're on because the PSU is the only thing you hear. Although some people might be picky tha the cables have mesh around them or PSU is not modular, I for one am impartial to this...but in today's day and age for a PSU of this size/brand reputation to be this loud makes no sense
Other Thoughts: Back on the Newegg site to buy a replacement PSU. Nothing wrong with the 650...but the noise level stinks! Newegg rocks...I will save this PSU for a file server I might build some day, which with this PSU I'd only keep in the basement.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: More than enough power for everything I have running on it and will run in the future. High quality, 80+ certified (tests/reviews/charts that I've seen showed it running within specifications and at 85%+ efficiency even while overloaded at 700+ watts, don't exactly wish to test this out myself tho) low price, more cables than you need, barely even gets warm, and crossfire ready. Quiet! I cannot hear this things fan over my case fans(which are set to low ~ 15-19 dB if that helps you) this caused me to worry at first thinking that the fan was not running but sure enough it was.
Cons: Not modular, extremely minor con and one that knew before I bought this PSU, but if you have a decent sized case this is not a real problem as there are plenty of places to tuck them away. Painted off-white/beige, Antec could have painted it black considering that the majority of cases out there are black aswell, but how often do you look at your PSU?
Other Thoughts: Build: CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0 GHz 95w. Mobo: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X Mem: A-Data DDR31600 2x2GB Vid: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 (Planning to crossfire this later on) Case: Antec 300 w/ 3 120mm fans added on. All fans set to low. PSU: This one.

Pros: Long Cables
Cons: Not modular
Other Thoughts: This power supply was ideal for my I5 build. The price was reasonable and there are plenty of power connections for devices and video. The 24 pin power connector is sheathed but the others are not. I really wanted a modular power supply but couldn't justify the price to get one. I have alwas used Antec PS units and will continue to do so.
