It’s all about the power. No matter if you’re using brand new, high end components or you’re cobbling together a system from leftover parts, you need a stable, reliable power supply unit. The Antec BP550 plus delivers 550 Watts of power with active PFC and heavy duty protection circuitry which protects your components from damage caused by short circuits, over circuits, excess voltage and other hazards.
The PSU has an integral 120mm low noise cooling fan to aid in keeping your entire system operating at optimal temperatures. Similarly, the modular cable system lets you install only the cords you need for your system. CPU power can be provided using either a 4or 8-pin connector, and you can connect to a PCI Express expansion card with either a 6-pin or 6+2 pin cable.
By installing only the cables you need, you are able to improve airflow within the case as well as the ease with which you can access and install the components. UL certified, with a MTBF of 100,000 hours, the BP550 Plus will provide long, reliable service for your system.

Pros: For the price, this is an amazingly well designed power supply. The three 12v rails provide plenty of power for a mid-range gaming system. From what I could see through the 120mm fan grill and the rear exhaust grill, quality components were used (the OEM is probably CWT). Modular cabling, except for the necessary cables that no system can live without, making cable management a snap. Speaking of cables, all cable lengths included are plenty long. I installed this PSU in an Antec P180 without any issues. Lastly, the price when I bought it was more than reasonable.
Cons: Where did Antec cut corners? Firstly, and most importantly, this PSU only has a one year warranty. Secondly, and far less important but still noteworthy, the internal packaging in the box is cardboard. While more earth friendly than styrofoam, at least it could have been thick enough to take a hit or two should your local delivery person be unwise to handle your package with care.
Other Thoughts: Admittedly, I was wary at first. A power supply is the part of the system you never want to cut corners on, and I have come across some bad 550 watt power supplies that sell in the same price range as the BP550. Although this unit has a lackluster warranty, I still feel that I got a fantastic deal considering the overall quality of the build.
The Antec BP550 is powering: Gigabyte 650i SLI DS4, Intel E6400, EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, WD 320GB HDD, & Samsung DVD+/-RW SATA in an Antec P180 case with stock fans

Pros: I haven't had any stability issues and I like the modular cabling. Here's what it's running:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5800+ Brisbane 3.0GHz Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ SSC (EVGA) 2 SATA hard drives 1 SATA DVD ROM 3 120MM Fans 2 DIMMS
Cons: Very minor voltage fluctuations. Im sure if you wanted rock solid voltage, you would spend >$100 for a power supply.

Pros: *Modular power is handy, though generally I shy away from them.. *Went in pretty easily to replace my failed unit *Cables are VERY LONG... *Cables are sleeved, though this isn't important to me *Three Yr warranty is decent *Plenty of plug options including SATA, old 4pin molex, and old floppy type.. had at least 3 options for PCIe *Had $20 rebate.. will report back on whether it works
Cons: So far I have none of real importance.. If I were to nitpick, I'd say the cables are quite stiff..
Other Thoughts: *Ordered 7pm Fri, received ~3pm Wed in good shape. *The box is minimally protected, but stood up well (1 layer peanuts around 4 of the 6 sides plus the factory box which is "crushable cardboard" packed. *Replaced an Antec 450w SmartPower that came with my Sonata case bought 4/04 operating 24/7 so it had about 130000 hours on it.
