It’s all about the power. No matter if you’re using brand new, high end components or you’re cobbling together a system from leftover parts, you need a stable, reliable power supply unit. The Antec BP550 plus delivers 550 Watts of power with active PFC and heavy duty protection circuitry which protects your components from damage caused by short circuits, over circuits, excess voltage and other hazards.

The PSU has an integral 120mm low noise cooling fan to aid in keeping your entire system operating at optimal temperatures. Similarly, the modular cable system lets you install only the cords you need for your system. CPU power can be provided using either a 4or 8-pin connector, and you can connect to a PCI Express expansion card with either a 6-pin or 6+2 pin cable.

By installing only the cables you need, you are able to improve airflow within the case as well as the ease with which you can access and install the components. UL certified, with a MTBF of 100,000 hours, the BP550 Plus will provide long, reliable service for your system.

  • newegg Modular Cable System The Modular Cable System featured in the BP550 Plus provides the user with an easy installation experience as well as increased airflow due to the lack of unneeded cables.
  • newegg Quiet Cooling The BP550 Plus features a quite 120mm fan to cool your CPU with little increase in system noise.
  • newegg Circuitry Protection The built in heavy duty circuitry protection prevents damage resulting from short circuits, over voltages, and other electrical hazards.

3 out of 5 eggsDimensions wrong on site

Pros: Modular and pretty decent size PSU for an HTPC.

Cons: Bought this because I thought from what the picture states that the 6.1 inches was the width and not the depth. WRONG! For my HTPC I needed the depth of my PSU to be less than 6 inches. Even if it was less than 6 inches they didn't account for the modular plugs sticking out therefore making it even longer than what is shown. Really need to fix this so people don't make the same mistake as I did. Waste of money.

Other Thoughts: fix the picture Antec to the right one because the way I see it, it's false advertising.... Other than that the PSU is fine which is why I still give it 3 eggs.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Wes,

We'll work with the retailer to get information updated and fixed. Thank you for letting us know and we'll work on getting everything updated. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Good stats for an affordable modular psu. Ran my amd powered gaming machine with 9800gtx fine while it lasted.

Cons: Not reliable and a very short life span. Right around 3 years of use the power supply died and took out my motherboard.

Other Thoughts: To this day I have other machines running on older and cheaper psu's than this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat first PSU

Pros: Semi modular, sturdy, antec.

Cons: None so far, I'll update if things change!

Other Thoughts: I wish they made an option to choose PSU color, because a silver PSU stands out in a black case.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: Great deal for a modular setup. Installed easy, had everything I needed for Asrock Extreme 4 / Radeon HD 7950 / Intel it 3570k. The cables are sheathed so they look great. Made cable management a breeze. For the price, I could find nothing better. It also had enough power supply lines for my big HD 7950, it requires dual power inputs.

Cons: Its silver so if your case is black on the inside it wont match. Also, it does not transform into a car or robot as I had hoped.

Other Thoughts: For a single video setup, this thing is a no brainer, I could not find any modular setups anywhere near this price point, plus Antec is a pretty reputable brand.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Modular

Cons: DOA. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to lay down for a full build everytime I get the urge to build a new computer so I buy the parts piecemeal as they go on sale and as my budget permits. In this case, it took about 2 months for me to assemble the thing and the RMA time frame has already passed. So now I'm left wondering what to do with this unit. Hopefully, Antec will give me an idea.

Other Thoughts: I keep telling myself I should put these things together as soon as they come in to avoid such issues...

Manufacturer Response:

Hey ?,

Submit a trouble ticket at www.antec.com/support/ and we'll get you a replacement under warranty. Let's get this taken care of so you can finally get your system up and running.

5 out of 5 eggsworks just fine

Pros: It just works. Simple and easy as that. All the right cables, sleeved, plenty of length in an Antec P280 case (bottom mount PSU), quiet. Nothing frivolous.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very reliable semi-modular PSU...I have used Antec for years never let me down. You can pay more money for the "name" PSU's and they are great too but for a budget build you won't go wrong with ANTEC.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This one went in my home office build! Looking forward to many years of service. I have an old Antec 450 in a PIII dual socket 370 it's 14years old still works great!

5 out of 5 eggsStellar performance!

Pros: Powers my new Ivy Bridge Core i5 build without any problems at all. Modular design is veeeeery convenient and keeps cable clutter down significantly. Fan is very quiet - I have to get very close to hear it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Antec has a real winner here, bar none.

Love the modular cabling. My case is so tidy! The braided cable looks great in an open-sided case and is stiff enough ...
