5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU - rebate takes some time

Pros: - True power rating PSU
- Semi-modular cables (all the required ones for a PC are attached)
- Sleeved cables
- 80+ Bronze certification
- Seasonic design (similar to the M12II 520W)
- Quiet operation

Cons: Minor con...

A 8-pin (4+4) AND a 4-pin motherboard EPS/ATX power connector.

Why?! All STANDARD ATX-based boards either use one 4-pin or an 8-pin; I don't see the need for the standalone 4-pin.

Other Thoughts: Antec do honour their rebates, but it just takes a VERY long time. I purchased my PSU in late April and I JUST received my rebate in the mail a couple days ago.

$99.99 CDN before taxes and shipping seems a bit expensive for this PSU. If you can grab it while it's on sale (I got mine for $74.99 - $15 USD MIR - $10 NewEgg promo code) it's a good purchase. Another good unit would be the SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W, and it goes for a bit cheaper.

- Corsair A50 CPU cooler

- Antec TruePower TP-550 550W PSU
- WD Caviar Black 1TB 64MB cache HDD WD1002FAEX

5 out of 5 eggsAlways a solid performer

Pros: Easy installation, plenty of cabling options, always works great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've installed several of these units to replace blown power supplies in client machine and they always work great and last for years.

5 out of 5 eggsNot exactly modular, but it's quiet

Pros: The TruePower New 550W provides reliable continuous power, and it's fairly quiet while doing so. The cables are a good length. The matte grey finish looks nice.

Cons: There's a reason Antec uses a fancy name for modular: this PSU is not modular. It has all of the standard cables hardwired like a non-modular PSU, but if you need extras, you can plug additional cables in. This means that even Molex and floppy connectors are hardwired.

The 24pin ATX cable is very stiff and round; it can be hard to fit in the back if your case has cable management.

The square grill on the back of the PSU is kinda ugly. A honeycomb pattern would've been nicer.

Kinda pricey for a Bronze semi-modular PSU: it's very close to modular Gold territory.

Pros: Rock solid power
Hybrid modular
sleeved cables
very quiet
Strong 550, doesn't disappoint.

Cons: Never got my rebate nor did others who got in on the same deal.
Lots of cables for a hybrid modular

Other Thoughts: Would have been nice if they came through on the rebate that was advertised. Pretty shady if you ask me. Replaced a 300w on my current rig but it will get swapped into the new rig I'm building. I got a decent price even without the rebate. I'm reviewing the PSU and not Antec as a business so the power brick gets 5 eggs for what it is, just rock solid and quiet. I'm happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality Power Supply

Pros: Hybrid cable management works well. Very quiet and reliable. Running in a system that goes 24/7.

Cons: None, maybe a little pricey. You get what you pay for though.

Other Thoughts: I haven't hooked up any of the extra hybrid cables. What comes bundled out of the case suited my need. I buy nothing but Antec PS and never been disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Reliable and quiet PSU with plenty of power connectors for a small server.

Cons: Not compatible with most Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS) because of PFC

Other Thoughts: I bought the Antec TP-550 for my server at home. This is what the PSU is powering:

Intel S3420GPLC Server Board
Intel Xeon X3440 Lynnfield 2.53GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Server Processor
16 GB of Kingston DDR3 1333MHz ECC Registered RAM (4x4GB)
6 - Seagate 500GB 7200.12 3.5" SATAII Hard Drives
2 - Western Digital Caviar Black 7200RPM 2.5" SATAII Hard Drives
2 - Seagate 1TB 7200RPM 3.5" SATAII Hard Drives
Adaptec 2805 SAS RAID Controller

After more than 2 years, the PSU is still going strong. The only con I can think of is that this power supply, as well as 90% of the PSUs available today uses PFC which requires a sine wave power signal. Most consumer end UPSes provide a square wave signal when providing backup power which will cause a power drop to your computer components while switching to backup power and will cause your computer to reboot, negating the point of a UPS. For this power supply, look to be spending more than the power supply costs for a UPS that will last 3
