The Antec's New TruePower series provides an advanced power supply solution for senior DIYer, striking a balance of reliability, efficiency and quality. The Antec New TP-550 power supply features 80 PLUS BRONZE certification, saving energy and your money. It also generates less heat and enhances cooling with a super-silent 120mm PWM fan. The Active PFC circuitry further reduces power use for cooler, quieter, and more environmentally friendly power.
The Antec New TP-550’s universal input capability, together with ATX12V v2.3 and EPS12V V2.91 compliancy lets you use it in a variety of situations without worrying about input voltages. Dedicated power circuitry, industrial grade protection circuitry, and Active PFC deliver safe, reliable output. Four +12V output circuits provide maximum stable power for the CPU independently of the other peripherals.
The modular design makes cable management easier. The main power cables are permanently attached, while all of the peripheral cables all plug into the back of the PSU. The cables are all wrapped in mesh for a cleaner installation. Bring new power to your system!

Pros: Many SATA and Molex connectors if you intend to fill an Antec 300 or 900 with drives. If you mount the PSU "upside down" with the fan up, the Antec logo on the visible side is right side up. Decent combo price with Antec 900 case. 120mm fan is quiet.
Cons: I wish the 8 pin ETX and 4 pin ATX motherboard connectors were module. I only use the 4 pin, so the 8 pin is just tied up in the bottom of the case.
The SATA connectors are oriented so that starting from the PSU, the first connector should be the top most drive. I wish this was the opposite for bottom mounted PSU cases.
Other Thoughts: This has many connectors for connecting many SATA and IDE drives. Permanent direct connections include: 1 x 20+4 Motherboard 1 x FDD 3 x Molex 3 x SATA 1 x 6+2 PCIe 1 x 4 pin ATX 12V 1 x 8 pin EPS 12V
Up to 4 of the following can be connected: 1 additional 4 pin PCI-E SATA cable each with 3 SATA connectors, 2 cables included Molex cable each with 3 molex connectors, 2 cables included
If you only use 1 PCI-E connector, a maximum of 9 SATA drives and 9 IDE drives can be connected without using any splitters (as long +5V and +12V long are not exceeded).

great psu

Pros: This looks like an amazing PSU. ACTIVE PFC. that means that it is wayy more efficient than all passive pfc power supplies.
120 mm fan is becoming a standard. black sleeving on all the cables four 12V rails will power anything.
Cons: its expensive, 120 is a bit pricey but hey it just came out. and you get what you pay for with antec.
Other Thoughts: I just have to make a remark about the last comment.
They just came out with this model less than a month ago. so first of all you claim that it died on you after 5 months. You could not have owned it 5 months ago. Second of all you don't need a receipt to RMA anything anymore. I recently RMA'ed something with antec. I had no receipt, no original box, and barely had any of the accessories. yet they still took it. Just go to their web site and fill out a RMA request form.
But trust me this thing is so iron clad. you wont need to RMA this thing for a while.
btw did you know their warranty lasts 10 years?

Pros: It worked initially...
Cons: Set up my new machine over the weekend and everything was great. Got back to my dorm monday morning afterward (4 hour drive), hooked it up to my 1080p display (was using 1024x768 at home), resolution changed then the PSU just bit the dust. I double checked all the amperage and wattage requirements for my hardware and video card and it should have been okay, so I figure it was just a faulty unit. Had to drive 4 hours back home to re-pack it and send it back to newegg though... that wasn't cool.

Quality + Power = Peace of Mind

Pros: Tons of connectors. Partly modular so case clutter is reduced greatly! The remaining cables aren't that bad if you have a large case like I do. I can see if you're using a smaller ATX case you might be a bit displeased with the extra cables.
Verified the connectors of the PSU cables, good and straight. Not a single bent contact.
Constant, stable and quite cool. I was playing Aion and CoD4/5 all on Medium/High. Hardly a temp difference.
The noise level it emits is equal to my last PSU, Thermaltake PurePower 480 AD which isn't loud but it's not silent either. The noise level is very very good and not distracting.
Cons: No cons towards the product itself. However the actual Antec PSU box AND the shipping have severe crushed corners. The packaging was decent, foam all around except for the top part where the crushed corner was. I checked the PSU to see if it was deformed and it seems to perfectly fine, no problems.
Other Thoughts: I wanted a quality and strong PSU to last me years. Hope it does that.

Stable and tough

Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: -Rated at RMS power unlike some other deceitful competition. -Stable and absolutely reliable -Can withstand what a Thermaltake 750w Toughpower could not. -Antec has always had a 100% reliable reputation from my experience -Semi modular, means less clutter in a small mini tower
Cons: None. Period.
Other Thoughts: Great PSU for the price, and rated at RMS unlike some others. It will not buckle under heavy use.
Used for both rigs: -GTX260 OC, AM2 Athlon X2 6400 Black, 4gb DDR2 ram, 320 caviar HD, 6 fans total (this rig claimed both a 550w and 750w competitor PSU)
