2 out of 5 eggsWon't work with a UPS

Pros: Solid power supply. Semi-modular design is great for a moderately loaded PC.

Cons: OK, the big con is the hold up time obviously is not up to spec. This means that whenever my UPS triggered because of a power outage, if it was under any sort of load above 300W, it would shut my computer off. Since my computer idles at about 300W, that means whenever I'm gaming and the power shuts off, even if my UPS kicks in the PSU couldn't hold up. Heck, it even shut off once when my AC kicked in.

I tested with two different UPSes before concluding it was the PSU, not the UPS's fault. I've purchased and installed a different PSU and tested it a bunch under full load. Computer stays on. Maybe I got a defective unit, but this caused me a lot of headache and pain.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Sorry for the headache and pain caused here. The UPS may not be compatible with the TP-650 as the UPS needs to match up with the PSU pure sine wave. Please write us at VIP@antec.com so we can better examine the issue and help you find a solution. Thanks for your patience and we look forward to hearing from you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Great PSU for the money. Quiet fans with sustained power.

Cons: None really, does everything I need it to do for the rig i have it on.

Other Thoughts: Overall great PSU for mid budget systems. Can run SLI but my rig I don't. Modular helps with cable management.

2 out of 5 eggsFailure

Pros: Was a decent price when I picked it up.

Cons: After 6 months it failed. I've started the RMA process but with the cost of time and money that brings I'm strongly considering picking up a new Power Supply from a different company.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disappointed in Antec and will not be likely to purchase another part from them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: Easy to install/swap out. Semi modular and easy to add cables. Powers system without fluctuation. Does exactly what a power supply should, which is getting harder and harder for most makers these days.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I purchased a 1000w PSU on sale for about the same amount of money first but it was no good. So I did a little more research and Antec is worth the money. Very pleased with the purchase!

4 out of 5 eggsOkay PSU

Pros: This PSU seems like it runs pretty cool, but that could just be because it is bottom mounted and the fan draws in outside air. I like the modular cable management idea, even though I didn't need to use any extra cables with my setup.

Cons: There's some coil-whine coming from it, it isn't very loud (can't hear it over all my fans) but still.

5 out of 5 eggsAntec TruePower New 650W

Pros: Delivers stable, tightly regulated power
Well balanced voltage regulation and efficiency
Excellent Ripple suppression, especially on the 12V output.
Silent at low power loads
5 year warranty
Almost nothing can compete with this unit at it's current price as of the date of this review.

Cons: Antec sacrificed a little noise to keep temperatures only slightly above ambient when under full load (This can actually be a Pro now that I think about it)

Antec Goofed on the ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 design, both connectors are hardwired to the unit. Your system will only need one or the other so this should have been a modular option.

Other Thoughts: The cons are not a huge deal so this unit gets a perfect rating from me due it's terrific performance for the price making it the best value for your money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

Pros: Worked out of the box and is heavy! In my experience a heavy PSU = a good one. Stands true with this one. No problems thus far.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality, quiet PSU.

Pros: Quiet PSU, with a large fan.
Partially modular. I was able to route power wires so I didn't need to use any of the modular ones, and it makes a huge difference in case clutter.
Good quality - Not a light-weight PSU, and gives lots of room for future expansion.
Well known, respected brand.

Cons: No fan speed monitoring connector. Not a major issue, but I like to know what's going on in my system... and since the fan is quiet, if it dies you're not likely to notice as quickly!

Other Thoughts: It came with an MIR. I've read mixed reviews about those with various other products, but I've never had an issue receiving one before... still kind of ridiculous that in this day and age they still indicate it can take 8 weeks to process.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quiet and efficient. I have not had the same issues people are reporting with high pitched sounds or issues with the fan.

Cons: Not completely Modular
