5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Worked completely as expected.

Cons: No power cord seemed like an oversight, but by this point I've got a box of them, so it'd just be a waste anyhow.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Low Wattage, Useful for stacking on one outlet. Includes PCI extension for a graphics card if necessary.

Cons: The wattage - this can be amended by getting the corsair modular cx series if a higher wattage is desired. The noise is relatively low, but not 0 dB.

Other Thoughts: This is a good power supply. Purchased for the intent of usage in low wattage stacking on one outlet for a render farm, it serves that purpose well.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: [-] Quality Power Supply
[-] On the Oscope, voltages are -clean-
[-] 80 Plus Bronze Certified
[-] Nicely priced

Cons: [-] Not currently available and I -need- two more of these NOW
[-] Needing one so bad that I may have to pull a "seasoned" one from a machine that has one to get this other up and running to send back off to a friend.

Other Thoughts: This power supply reminds me of the "old school" ones in that, it is a quality unit.. most of the machines that run with this are idling at or around 25 watts. Not too shabby really if you knew what was in them. I hope these become available again within a day or so, but, I'm afraid of the worst case scenario (i.e. that these are discontinued and a "new improved" model replaced it -- I seriously dislike "change")

5 out of 5 eggsLittle Gem

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Heavy, meaning it has copper and big iron coils inside.
Decent price, meaning I can build a system that's affordable
Power switch
Whisper quiet. I can't even hear it.
Plenty of connectors.
Comes without a cord. Everyone has 10 extras, right?

Cons: Stiff braided covering on main cable bundle. Maybe it's attractive to some, but it's just bulky and stiff to me. I rather good quality, flexible bare wires.

Other Thoughts: I build a lot of "business" machines. I use mostly i3 4330, which is a perfect business CPU, and it draws only 65 watts. I use Samsung EVO SSD's which draw maybe 2W. I use a WD Green storage HDD's, which draws perhaps 5-6W. The whole system with everything maxxed out at once probably uses 120W. It's not like the old days when you need 500W minimum just to get by.

2 out of 5 eggs19 months almost to the day

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: It's a nice color
It worked well while it worked
It didn't take everything else with it when it died this morning.

Cons: It went out with a bang -literally. It sounded like a firecracker.

It should have lasted closer to 19 years than 19 months.

Other Thoughts: This is the second Antec power supply that has died prematurely. Both were bought from Newegg, if that's significant.

I don't beat up my computers. I'm not a gamer, I'm a retired engineer and write software pro-bono.

Power supplies are transformers with rectification. Both transformers and rectifiers have been around since the 1800s. The technology pre-dates the everyday use of electricity --it is s-t-a-b-l-e.

Only cheap components and poor quality control can explain premature failures in stable technology.

I would much rather pay 10% more for high-quality components than "save" the 10% through cheesy components and poor or no QA. As Edwards Deming proved, savings from corner-cutting are no savings at all, and it costs only a few percent more to deliver very high quality. Newegg should demand that its suppliers deliver that high quality.

5 out of 5 eggsLives up to it's name

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: This thing is incredibly efficient, even for a bronze cert. It is small enough to fit in an mAtx case with no problems, and plenty of room to work with. It runs 24/7 and makes NO noise, and has hiccuped exactly 0 times. Also, IT'S GREEN!

Cons: None really! The only thing I can think of is the fact that it is not a modular cable set up... which can get messy, however this is advertised as such, so you can't really mark it down for that if you are an informed buyer.

Other Thoughts: I am using it for a super power saving web/database/media server, and at the bios, I was reading 18w of power use at the outlet (courtesy of an APC).

System Specs:
rosewill ranger-m case
Samsung Evo SSD
Gigabyte socket 1150 mobo
i-3 4340 cpu
G-Skill eco series ram

5 out of 5 eggs380W Power Supply

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Friend of mine thought her PC was dead luckily it was just the power supply. put this power supply in the case and back online. Very easy installation.

Cons: It was a little expensive but much better than having my friend buy a whole new computer.

5 out of 5 eggsI've had great experiences with 2 of these

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Quiet, efficient, rock solid, low price

Cons: Doesn't have an 8 Pin video card connector

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about 3 or 4 years back for my computer, which is on constantly, and it has never had issues. A little over half a year ago, I started mining with a card that really should call for a higher output supply, and I'm powering it from a simple Hard drive power to 8 pin adapter which you really shouldn't use and it has been running for 6 months straight without issue. I recently bought another one for another build, and it also works great, and I expect it to continue to do so.
