5 out of 5 eggsTypical Antec Quality

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: It works and has all the connectors you'd need for anything but a high-end computer.. probably has enough juice to power even a modest gaming PC with a single video card and one or two hard drives. I've got two older versions of this PSU (80 plus but not "bronze" 80 plus) and they have been nothing but quality so naturally I got this when I needed another PSU.

Cons: No power cord included! This is not a con for me as I have a ton of them lying around (brought 'em home from work) but for someone who is building their first PC and overlooks this fact, it's a BIG CON that can set them back another $20 and a trip to the Big Box store to buy a cord. I didn't even realize it didn't come with a cord until I opened the box... not going to knock an egg since it does say "no power cord" in the description and again on the box... but I'd have been miffed otherwise.... y'know a power cord being packaged with a power supply is something you just take for granted and assume it's going to be included.. UNTIL NOW apparently...

"Save the Environment by using your existing cord" yeah right Antec... more like "cut costs by not including a cord".. it might not seem like a lot but by selling a million of these things without power cords they're saving quite a little chunk.. don't spit in our face and tell us it's raining

Other Thoughts: It's green. Literally.

5 out of 5 eggs3 years solid

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: 3 years running no problems. even trough a lot of part swaps. had 4 hard drives running off this at one point. still ran perfect. I can let it run for weeks on end not a hiccup and no real notice in my power bill.

Cons: none for a basic CPU and GPU. great for low end servers and work stations.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Enough power for any APU system, unless you want to add a crossfired video card.

Reliable in my experience. I've used four of them so far, one of which has been running around two years with no problems so far.

Fan noise is less than AMD's stock APU cooling fan, so it's not noticeable in any of my builds.

Low price, helps keep my HTPC builds under $400... in some cases, under $300.

Cons: None that I've experienced.

Other Thoughts: Some might list this as a con, others as a pro... but it doesn't come with a power cord. Great for me, as I've been building PCs since the mid 90s... I have a footlocker full of the things. Just be aware if you're a first-time system builder.

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Works great right out of the box. No issues. Rather quiet overall.

Cons: None I have found so far.

Other Thoughts: wasn't DOA. With powersupplies... only time will tell.

5 out of 5 eggsOverkill for what I built

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: - See spec.
- Quiet
- Has a physical switch
- Suitable for almost any budget

Cons: - Not modular. I knew that when I bought it.
- Some of the cables are permanently twisted around each other why have PSU manufacturers not figured out how to stop that from happening yet seriously it's so frustrating. Purely cosmetic for an internal component so no points off.

Other Thoughts: - The 20+4 pin motherboard power cord is a pain to detach. I'm sure you all have to do this every day and care so much about it, worth mentioning though.

Everything I bought hooked up and running, the entire unit uses 14 watts idle, and 31 watts full tilt. I could probably run 10 of that computer on this power supply no problem. I would have bought a much lower power one, but this was the cheapest power supply in its output range, and none of the uATX ones review well.

I bought this as part of an all-new-parts low power server build. I'll be doing the primary review for that build on the intel i3 4130T in a week or so, in case anyone cares to read it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for a HTPC

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Quiet, efficient and more than enough power to serve a small build.

Cons: The colour green? It is unique perhaps but it clashes with everything else in the case.

Other Thoughts: Unless you have an energy eating video card, this is probably as much power as you need to run a small computer. Wish more manufactures would make efficient, low wattage power supplies.

2 out of 5 eggsFan died quickly

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: One the plus side, this PSU takes very little power. Typically PSUs are very inefficient if you build a low power system. They are often most efficient at the higher end of the power consumption curve. I build a server that only drew about 35 watts total and the overhead from this PSU was barely noticeable.

Cons: The bearings in the built in fan started going out after only a few months. I could hear it start to get off kilter and vibrate, then it would quite down again. Eventually it mostly stopped spinning. I had extra fans in my rig that actually pushed air through the PSU, so I ran that way, but after about a year my system would just power down with no apparent reason. Changing the power supply for a new one resolved this. I am not sure if it is worth dealing with a warranty return for a $40 part.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Great power supply
BRONZE Rating
Haswell compatible

Cons: No power cable (Antec is supposedly going "GREEN")

Other Thoughts: I would've bought a Corsair CX430, but the Antec EA380D was cheaper at the moment. I even got my $10 Rebate back too ^.^
