5 out of 5 eggs5 years later

Pros: Still running strong back when it was first turned on in March 2011. Has not failed me once. NOT ONCE. I have upgrade at least 1 GPU, 1 CPU, and added in an additional 2TB hard drive, along with my 1TB hard drive. Still works. Cables are sturdy.

Cons: - Non-modular. Cable management with this can be a real nightmare, and especially so with a mid tower case. But that's the choice you make going a little cheaper.
- Only 3 SATA power supply cords, and they are all on the same cord. In my case, I had to drop the CD drive about 2 slots down since it would not reach the top of my case, and I had to configure my two HDDs to be placed 1 slot apart. This was the only way to reduce the constant strain it would place on my CD drive and HDDs SATA power slots. I understand why only 3 SATA power cords were provided, but the spacing of the cords is my only real issue.

Other Thoughts: I will definitely buy from Antec again, though now I would pay a little extra for a modular PSU.

3 out of 5 eggsInternal wiring contacting fan blades...

Pros: I've had no trouble with these specific (and other Antec) power supplies (many builds) until recently. No returns, no DOAs, and they run 24x7.

Cons: The most recent couple of supplies arrived with what appears to be problems resulting from poor quality control. When power is applied and the fan begins to spin, it rubs against the internal wiring directly under the plastic fan blade.

Other than RMA, the only remedy I've found is to remove the 4 fan grille screws and with the power supply UNPLUGGED and using a NON CONDUCTIVE tool, such as a plastic pen, it is possible to push the wiring back into the cable bundle under and in between the fan blades. This makes the noise stop and will protect the wiring and fan/bearings from eventual self-destruction.

Other Thoughts: Having used and installed many Antec PSUs over the years, it is disappointing to find this problem, especially only after the PSU is fully installed into the case and connected to peripheral devices.

Therefore, BEFORE you plug this PSU into an AC power source or install into the computer case, use a NON CONDUCTIVE tool such as a plastic pen or wooden toothpick and spin the fan blades; if the fan binds, rubs, or makes noise, you can decide whether to RMA or fix yourself.

Since power supplies can store and discharge lethal voltage within their internal capacitors, I would recommended to use the RMA process instead for repair.

Maybe some of the clicks and other noises associated with this make/model are caused by loose wiring in the wire bundles dropping onto the fan blades. Why? Because this PSU sits on the bottom of the computer case and all internal PSU wiring sits ABOVE the fan. Anything loose in the PSU will eventually drop into the fan....

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Company

Pros: None

Cons: Quality
Cheap components
Horrible customer service

Other Thoughts: This power supply died a little over a month after use and Antec will not issue me a rebate for this junk because they failed to properly document what I needed to send in for them to approve the rebate. Antec has gone down hill and should be a company to avoid.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Long life span under moderate load conditions, enough power to support a decent amount of peripherals

Cons: Bulky wire setup, lasted 3 years 2 months even though thats not really a con, I kinda expected it to last through to the full 5 year warranty period

Other Thoughts: It held up pretty good against 6 hdds, 2 dvd drives, a gtx 660 oc'ed, and a fx-4850 oc'ed not including the cooling system. Overall I'm impressed by this psu despite its sudden loss one of power to my computer after 3 years of moderate to heavy use. It lasted a heck of a lot longer than my other unit did.

5 out of 5 eggsAntec HCG

Pros: Looks awesome. Solid

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've owned this since 2012. It ran a 270, then sli 570's, now it runs a 770 and an 1100t. The 570's were power hogs and I always ran them oc'd. No problems. This power supply has worked without fail since the day I installed it.
