5 out of 5 eggsTest of Time

Pros: I have owned this for 3 years and had no issues. SLI ready. Gold certified. Good cable management, plug in only the cables you need. Plenty of power for my Lanboy Air case with 12 case fans, GTX 660ti video card, i7-3770, 16gb ram, ASRock Z77 extreme 6 mobo.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was going to upgrade to a 2nd video card later, but I have not needed to. I could have gotten by with a 600 watt power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: Nothin

Cons: everything

Other Thoughts: This thing died on the second day I had it. I came home from work, and it was dead. No matter what I did I could not get it to come on. I tried it in three different computers.

Gave it the old sniff test, it smells fried.

I want my $200 back.

4 out of 5 eggsBeast

Pros: Beast of a power supply. Very powerful and comes with lots of cables and connectors. Should be just fine for a long time to come.

Cons: Not a big con, but it has its own power switch. this caused some frustration when the computer wouldn't turn on right away.

1 out of 5 eggsdead on arrival

Pros: Received this middle of January since them we tried replacing the mother board 3 times before I bought another brands Then with new egg no one was able to figure it to be the power supply or even say it might be. So I finally brought to a computer store and they hooked up another power supply to the board and presto it worked. Wished I checked this in the first place. Now I ordered another one and hope it works if not going with antecs 850.

Cons: Dead on arrival

Other Thoughts: Hope the next one works , haven't found out what manufacturer warranty is like yet , but since it took so long to diagnose problem I can't rma to new egg.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Tamorin,

I apologize that the unit you got didn't power up. Please contact us for a replacement PSU: We look forward to hearing from you.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works...

Pros: Typical great Antec quality. Hybrid modular with the high current 24 pin ATX and 12V 8 pin cables fixed. More modular cables than most users will ever need. Ran Prime95 for 24 hours @100% both CPU's with no problems.

Cons: I do not require the extra 2 pins on the PCI-Express 6+2 cables for the video card.

1 out of 5 eggsPSU does not work with EVGA P67

Pros: None

Cons: This PSU does not work with EVGA P67 boards. After 3 RMA's Antec is blaming me or my PC. I went to best buy and bought a $100 Thermaltake PSU 850 watt and it works. I sold this PSU to someone else and it works on their ASUS board.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if when I called Antec I received some kind of technical support. Instead they were too worried about what I was doing wrong as if plugging in a PSU is hard. My advice is if you are gonna hire young kids to answer your phones at least make sure they know what they are talking about.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible brand experience

Pros: My current machine would never approach the limits this PSU is rated to offer, so I cannot comment on it's efficiency under load. I have had no functionality problems with the product itself so far. It is well packaged using what appears to be at least partially recycled materials, so good on Antec for that.

It is quiet also.

Cons: It is not 100% modular. Unfortunate.

While reduction in paper use is admirable, it was not made clear in description or on box that a complete user manual would not accompany the product. Less than a tiny problem, but it should be noted.

Other Thoughts: There was a rebate offered, which was the biggest incentive to purchase this at the time.
I followed the instructions for rebate fulfillment to the letter, and still received a notice :

You recently submitted a claim in participation with Antec.
Unfortunately, Antec was unable to confirm your purchase information and your claim number XXXXXX-XXXXX was denied.
To check the denial reason of your claim, please visit

You may resubmit your claim within 15 days of this notice, however we cannot guarantee an approval.
Please allow up to 15 days to validate your resubmitted information.

I emailed them back stating that I submitted everything properly, and asked them how I was supposed to resubmit after I had already sent in my only upc. I received a reply :

Thank you for contacting us regarding your mail-in rebate submission for the HCP-850. According to our records, the invoice you submitted does not show the HCP-850 being purchased and this denial code does not allow you to resubmit your claim. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I then emailed to them photos of the material I physically mailed, proving that I had indeed fulfilled the requirements.

I have called the antec rebate center and human resources, nobody answers and it goes to voicemail.

Bottom line, rebate offers are contract in the sale. Antec has so far shown that they do not respect their customers. Or California Business and Professions Code, Section 17200-17210 (Unfair Competition ), or possibly 15 USC § 45.

Manufacturer Responses are welcome!

2 out of 5 eggsBAD DESIGN

Pros: Good power for price. Delivers enough power for 90% of the set ups out there.

Cons: Mother board 24 pin and cpu 8 pin on opposite ends why? Just bad design why would you set up outputs that you must use no mater what on two different ends.

Other Thoughts: Id return it but I sent rebate off already. My fault wouldnt recommend to anyone unless the price was right and didnt mind poor wire managments
