4 out of 5 eggsIt could be better

Pros: Well build and appears to be power efficient but see cons…

Cons: It’s not loud but not as quiet as I expected. I could easily make psu’s fan the loudest thing in my PC (no gpu and minimal load) by turning 2 case and 1 cpu 120 fans to their lowest, and these my 3 fans aren’t from hi-end ultra-quiet line of products.

Time between you turn psu switch to 1 and the moment you can actually run your PC is longer than usual and frustrating (of course it’s only matters when you build or upgrade PC, but it’s one of these “little things”).

Other Thoughts: It could be cheaper

5 out of 5 eggsNeat and quiet

Pros: Very quiet. Not totally silent, but close enough for me! Seems to have provided good power so far. Cables with braided sheathing are always neat. More connectors than I imagine I'll ever need... but it's good to have the options, and I have space in the system chassis to stash the excess.

Cons: The biggest problem I've had with this power supply (really) is that the adhesive on the Antec label on the side of the PSU is insufficient and it gradually peels off by itself... With only integer egg ratings available, I cannot take away the 0.001 of an egg that this flaw would cost.

Other Thoughts: One of my build goals was low power, so this purchase was intended to achieve reliable, efficient and quiet power (not caring so much about the 550 watt aspect), and it seems to have ticked all the boxes.

I would imagine it might make more noise if in a beefier system where it needed to ramp the fan up, but it is a large fan so it should be relatively quiet then too. Large PSU fan = good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreen Mean Machine

Pros: Cut my energy bill by 25%!! Antec is synamous with reliability. Have been using their power supplies for more than I can remember, 10+ years? None of them which ever failed on me yet, knock on wood. Efficiency is a plus! paired with the Antec lable, you can't go wrong. This PSU is also very quiet, one fan only (intake). 550watts is plenty of juice, now that most technologies are getting more efficient overall.

Cons: Price is over one benjamin. Oh well, The cost of a new power supply is worth it though. Pays for itself, As over time, efficiency dwindles, even if it still works.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a working PSU, don't fix what's not broken, REPLACE IT! :)

come on, we live in a wasteful society, that it cost less to buy a new printer than to buy ink for it.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Well Built, Efficient

Pros: Its quiet, reliable and runs cool! Its very energy efficient so it won't put off a lot of heat, I had issues with this on my old PSU it would heat up my room like a space heater... Cables are nice and long and there are plenty of connectors...

Cons: Not modular but I knew that when i bought it, believe it or not these cables are easy to run and my case looks great so I don't consider this a con but some may. Otherwise i wish it had a 5 year warranty over the 3 year but for the price i can't complain much, i may buy an extended warranty for it.

Other Thoughts: I ended up paying $93 for this and there will be a $15 rebate coming soon so at $78 for a platinum 550w PSU you can't go wrong.
