Will this work on the Dell Inspiron 3847?

I can tell you the Antec has been a really good power supply, running cool and trouble-free with my core i7 rig. But my wife has had several Dells and while they are well engineered I know that Dell has a custom chassis and I would be very careful about how it will fit. Also, I live near a military base that had a number of Dells develop power supply problems and they discovered aftermarket power supplies would not work because of polarity differences. I cannot tell you whether this will work but I can warn you of potential problems. I can also tell you that Dells have power supplies rated very close to the load so they can fail and do not tolerate upgrades very well. But you probably already know that!

Question 2

My fan has been making a strange rattling noise on and off. Looked at the fan, can't detect anything wrong with it. But it continues to make the noise randomly. Any ideas?

Causes could be the lubrication on the bearings is giving out, but unlikely if you've checked and it turns well.  The other thing it could be is that the fan rotation frequency is resonating with the case during high loads and causing the the assembly to rattle.  This would have a seemingly more random chance of occuring. Try tightening the bolts to increase the rigidity of the case.

Will it work with AMD A6?

I think all the mobo's intel or amd have the same connectors, should work.

My PSU has started on and off making a weird clicking noise. It's definitely the fan. Is there anything I can do?

I wouldn't open it up and mess around, try calling CS if your RMA is still in effect!

Is this power suply compatible with a Dell XPS 9100?

It depends on if your case is ATX form factor aka if it is a standard size desktop case. Roughly 16"x16"x6.5" in dimension.

It appears that this power supply can have 4, 6+2 pin PCIE cables but it only comes with 2 cables. Can you hook up an additional 2 cables and if so where can you buy them? Also is it safe to crossfire two video cards on this PSU.

Antec states this is CrossFire ready but lacks the all the connectors you need. I would recommend the Antec 750 which is also CrossFire ready and comes with 4, 6+2 pin PCIE cables. The 750 is priced the same as the 620. I don't know what video cards you are using so be sure you're choosing a power supply that can handle all of your components.

This PS has a fan on top instead of the back... Where does the fan output to, the top or out the back?
