5 out of 5 eggsAll around good deal

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Cheap
Modular
Good connections (cords)
Quite

This is a nice PSU, when i bought it i didn't even notice it was modular so that was a pleasant surprise. It quite when running, all rails were well within stability and voltages.

All around good deal.

Cons: Only 620Watt, but hey this is something you pick so its not really a con.

5 out of 5 eggsAntec + Seasonic Wins Again

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: When I think of the brand who produces the very most reliable power supplies without any frills or fuss, Seasonic has always been the name I think of. Why would I mention that on this Antec power supply? Because this is designed by Seasonic and sold by Antec. Just that fact alone and you know this is going to be a bulletproof unit.

Major reviewers are praising this unit for its excellent ripple suppression relative to other power supplies at this price, good voltage regulation under load and even expansion up to four PCI-E power plugs for two high-end video cards. The 5-year warranty is icing on the cake.

Running an R9 290 and FX-8350 (first foray into AMD land for me, by the way) is no problem at all, the unit stays cool and runs quiet. $40 after rebate makes it the same price as the Corsair offerings with an extra 120W of power to boot.

Cons: Seasonic quality for $40 -- no cons here.

Other Thoughts: I'd bathe myself in these if I had enough money to.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: *Modular.
*Got it on sale.

Cons: *Fan constantly rattles.
*And the fan is non standard 135mm. Replacement is tough to find if I want to self fix and I don't want to warranty the unit and end up receiving a refurbished unit.
*The CPU power cable is too short compared to other PSU's, I couldn't route it around the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a backup to my Corsair PSU, and will stick to Corsair in the future.

1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: No pros about this PSU.

Cons: Even when it was a few months old, it would intermittently fail to power on the PC. I had to unplug the PSU, wait several minutes and plug it in again to get it to work. This happened 3 or 4 times.

Other times it would power on the PC, but would not post. This happened 8 to 10 times.

Now after 2.5 years, the PSU will power on the PC, post, boot the OS, but as soon as any load is put on it, it will then power off the PC.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Voltages are good, and fairly stable:
3.3V - 3.392V
5.0V - 5.040V
12V - 11.827V (50% load) - 12.144V (idle)

Modular cables are fairly easy to work with. Fit securely into the PSU without being a giant pain to add/remove. They have straight ends on the sata cables so you can connect bottom mounted SSDs (I would have preferred one straight and one L, but two straight is better than two Ls).

Fan is relatively quiet and both idle and load, although idle could be better (see cons). This is in a setup where it's pulling in cool outside air, so it has less work to do than in a case where it's exhausting hot air from inside the case.

Cons: The fan is the loudest component in my case at idle. It has a slight, fluttery buzz that isn't too annoying but is audible. I was hoping for a little better.

80 Plus bronze really isn't something to brag about these days

Other Thoughts: For what I paid after rebate, I'm happy with this PSU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price / Performance Ratio

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Great price point, very quite, cool, great cosmetics. Power efficiency is quite good.

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Per research on the internet it is made by Seasonic which makes very high end power supplys. I went with a little more power than I need so I can add one graphics card at a later date. If you plan to run 2 or 3 graphics cards you will need more power.

5 out of 5 eggsModular is best!

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Modular PSU are the best! Antec's HCG Modular was the solution to many of my wiring tucking problems! Also the price could not be beat, at the time.

Never had a problem with running out of power with this supply!

Very quiet when on load, the fan is awesome!

Cons: No so far

4 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: -Modular
-Got it on sale for 40 with rebate, which is a great price for this.
-Noise isn't very loud, more of a low hum
-Mesh covered wires
-Voltages have been good so far

Cons: -First one that arrived was DOA. Thankfully newegg RMA process was quick and easy.
-Wires are somewhat rigid and not very flexible.

Other Thoughts: -No light to tell when its on/off
-Included is two 3x-molex connector cables, would've preferred an additional sata instead a molex, can't be picky however

-If it wasn't on some sort of sale, I probably would've gone with a different PSU. Probably a Corsair, EVGA or XFX
-Comes with two 8-pin (6+2) for graphic cards. If you need more you'd probably have to ask/buy from antec and I would doubt that they sell cables in single pieces.
-First one being DOA is not the best start, but these things happen. Good thing I bought on Newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsGood product, no rebate

This review is from: Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: It's good quality PSU, it's mostly modular, and has more than enough wattage for any rig with a single video card. The price was attractive with the rebate.

Cons: Without the rebate, the price isn't quite as compelling without the rebate factored in. I sent in the required rebate materials (UPC code, copy of the invoice, and the rebate form), I even printed out labels for the address and return address so that there would no legibility problems. 4 months passed and I received rebates from the other parts for this build (Corsair and Gigabyte respectively) but nothing from Antec. So I emailed Antec about the missing rebate, and was told that they never received anything. And that I needed the UPC code and other assorted paperwork in order to be approved for the rebate. Of course that does me no good because I had sent everything in as instructed back in April. I did send a copy of the invoice attached to the email as proof that I did buy the unit. But as I sent in everything back in April, I did not have the UPC code on hand. So I'm basically out of luck, I understand that things get lost in the mail, but this was the only mail-in-rebate for this build that didn't go through as advertised. I'm quite disappointed.

Other Thoughts: The mail in rebate was the deciding factor between this PSU and another comparable PSU from another brand. With the rebate the HCG-620M was a better deal, without the rebate, I would've gone with the Corsair TX650M for a little more money.

To recap, the actual product is perfectly acceptable, and if you can catch it on sale when there's a rebate being offered (and the rebate actually goes through), it's a good value for money. But if you're as unfortunate as I was with the rebate, and basically getting nowhere with Antec's customer support. Then can do better, there's no shortage of decent PSU's on the market, and you can probably get something just as good or maybe a little better for the same (non-rebate) price.
