5 out of 5 eggsFantastic gaming power supply

Pros: The power supply has plenty of watts for what I have, and runs very cool. Antec has been known to make good power supplies and other things, and I am not dissapointed either. The wiring is well modulated, and runs at good efficiency. I had no issues with length on my medium sized Antec Three Hundred Illusion tower.

Cons: No cons as far as I can tell.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this if you are on a budget and need a good power supply.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Modular PSU

Pros: This is a great power supply. It's Antec branded but the OEM is SeaSonic, the most respected power supply builder out there. It's nice to see a quality modular power supply in this price range.

The fan is very quiet on my unit. I cannot hear it over any of the other fans in my case and none of them are loud either. Also, there are no squeals or other odd sounds when stressed. It works just as intended and does it quietly.

Cons: It only comes with two PCIe cables, even though it has the capability of plugging in four. This is a non-issue for most people, but you may want to watch for this if you have cards that require two plugs each and you want to do SLI or CrossFire.

The cables are stiff. Although this is a mark of the quality of the wires and the cable sleeves, it can cause some problems because there is very little flex. For example, I was swapping out my video card and the cable supplying power to one of my hard drives was so stiff, that the plastic SATA power connector actually broke on one side as I was gently applying pressure on the cable while maneuvering parts.

I had to dock an egg for this. A perfect score requires perfection. It was my fault, but I've never had this happen before. If there was more flex in the cables this would never have happened. Otherwise, this power supply is a top notch unit.

Other Thoughts: I've had this power supply for a year now without a single issue. I'm currently running the following hardware with this power supply:

Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
Intel Core i7-2700K
Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 4x4GB
XFX Radeon HG6950 (uses 6-pin and 8-pin auxiliary power)
4x Mechanical HDDs
1x SSD
1x BD drive
5x fans

Even overclocked, this power supply runs like a champ.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD REBATE POLICY

Pros: None now!!

Cons: I check my rebate status last week and everything is a go, mind you I started the paperwork as soon as the product arrived. I usually wait a month to make sure I don't have a DOA or an RMA due to premature equip failure. I sent in the UPC label and the orig docs and low and behold (see cons below)

Other Thoughts: Here we go another rebate denial because again they give you 20 Days to get the paperwork in (small fine print). Never mind, that most people actually want to make sure they don't have a defective unit and have an RMA and run the product for 30 days to be certain it's a keeper. I'm pretty much done buying here with Rebates, with Shell Shocker pricing if this is how it's going to be. These processing houses have to be better accommodating, but then I blame the manufacturer's they want to move product, so does the reseller, and in the end who get's bent over, the consumer.
I expect more from you guys at Newegg.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi roc-o-rama,

We'll certainly take a look into this for you. Please email us at rebates@antec.com and we'll get this resolved once we have more information from you.

Pros: - Modular
- Only have about 3 cords hooked up to it to run my disc drive, SSD, HDD, and GPU.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice

Pros: This was an excellent buy, others in it's Bronze class are over priced for what you get compared to this PSU. Easy to connect to and it's
modular, plenty of braided cables, CrossFire ready with xtra cables and it's build solid. I have always trusted Antec brand over others, never a disappointment.
620W is plenty of juice for most gaming rigs, most people typically buy way more PSU than they need. Do your home work first use a power supply calculator first before you spend your money.

Cons: Would like to see mfg included a few more cable options you don't always need 3 or 4 piggy back connectors on every cable, a few two piggybacks would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Others have complained about the stiffness of the cables. Remember the wires aren't 24-26 gauge speaker wires they are 16-20g. Also, after you unwrap them you can always use a hair dryer to soften them up if you're not into working the stiffness out by hand, just use common sense if you're using a hair dryer or heat gun.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: The power supply works fine. Sufficient number of SATA and molex plugs.

Cons: When my system is under load, the power supply makes a really annoying, high-pitched white noise. The cables are sleeved poorly. The sleeving has a lot of slack. Also, the supplemental power supply cable is much too short to be routed the way I would like.

Other Thoughts: If you're building a low powered system then this power supply is great. However when you start to reach its max power outage the white noise it makes is very irritating.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

The PSU shouldn't be making a high-pitched sound - the one you have may be defective. Please contact us at VIP@antec.com for an RMA and we'll get you a replacement under warranty. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsModular Bliss

Pros: Great PSU, worked out of the box, just the right amount of modular cables. Speaking of modular configuration, this has saved a lot of case room.

Cons: Wires are a little stiff, but that's typical of Antec

Other Thoughts: Great PSU, consistent power, no issues.
