5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply for OC'd/SLI

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: After reading several negative reviews about this products, I figured I would throw in my $.02 for whatever its worth!

I've been running this PSU for a little over 6mos without issue. I'm running 2x GTX 780TI + 4790k atm, all OC'd and on custom water cooling. The power supply has provide stable voltage to all of my components, even at a load of 1250w! My CPU is OC'd 5GHz @ 1.38vcore and my cards are OC'd +220GPU and +180 vRAM, all at 1.212v! I simply cannot say enough about how happy I am with my purchase.

If you're planning to overclock or throw in several power hungry GPU's, this is the PSU for you! Don't be fooled by negative reviews, this thing is awesome and can more than stand up to the task. 6 months and still going strong!

Cons: None so far...If any, maybe the price is a little too high considering an Enrerman REVO 1500 can be had for around the same price.

1 out of 5 eggsHardly can withstand 1300W of real use

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Packaging was nice. Construction felt solid. Nothing out of the ordinary.

One big thing of note is the length of this unit - it's an inch or two shorter than others in it's class.

Also chose this unit because the fan was recommended more than those used in other units. Was using an EVGA 1300W Supernova - arguably the most popular because of it's price/value - but the fan on it was LOUD at full load. Hence my search for a higher quality PSU with a well regarded fan.

Cons: This thing just simply can't perform. CONSTANTLY tripped OCP on an overclocked, watercooled 4930k and Titan Tri-SLi setup.

My old, louder, cheaper EVGA unit could power this just fine. I was in disbelief.

Tried different configs (and voltages), and searched around on OCN forums. Turns out this PSU really isn't as quality as you think it is.

Other Thoughts: Those that think this PSU is great are probably just kids overbuying PSU output for what they need.

Those that actually need ~1300W should be well aware this unit absolutely sucks at it. I've already wasted 2 weeks of my time thinking something else was wrong with my setup.

In a market loaded with PSU choices, this one is just not worth your time. You either don't need a 1300W unit, or you actually do need one and this one isn't it.

I was so fed up with the time I wasted on this unit, I just went big with the AX1500i instead. More expensive, but the EVGA Supernova is too loud and I don't want to deal with "should be good enough" units anymore. Anyone who needs this much power should consider the same imo.

3 out of 5 eggsFailed after 6 months

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Extreme power. I currently only need ~700 W, but am in the process of adding more to the system, such as quad SLI, a 2nd optical drive, more storage for an array, and a few more fans or perhaps liquid cooling. This is going to let me do that. In my system, it's actually pretty quite running as well. My system is a bit on the loud side due to the all the fans in it currently, but this is not even close to being that loud.

Cons: Died after 6 months. Granted, my machine ran almost constantly without sleeping since I purchased it. The only time I would turn off my computer is a few nights here and there 1 night at a time. So far, the MTBF for me is ~3900 hours. That's horrible for a PSU. Not sure if I will continue to buy Antec. I guess I'll see in a few months when my wife's HCP-1000 Platinum reaches power on time of 4000 hours.

Other Thoughts: Antec's support hours suck. 9 am-4:30 pm Pacific. This sucks for anyone that works for a living in the same time zone.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: This power supply replaced my 1000w EVGA Supernova since I decided to add a third 780TI. I was a little nervous of buying an Antec PSU since my only experience I have is with their cases. This replaced my old 1000w EVGA Supernova and has worked very well. I have been able to OC my 4820k and GPU's with max power only reaching about 1100w's according to my UPS battery backup. It comes with plenty of cables and has features built in that may assist with future mobo revisions. Can't say much more after just 2 days, but so far so good.

Cons: The only gripe I have is about the breakout of SATA connectors. They include 3 SATA cables, each with 3 connectors for a total of 9. I wish they included 4 cables with the following breakout: 2, 3, 3, 1. This would be helpful since often times you need to run a single cable just for the CD-Drive or some other component that is placed too far away from other components to really make use of the extra connectors on the same cable. Its minor, but would help people who want to minimize the mess behind the chassis panel.

Other Thoughts: Overall this PSU seems great. With a 7yr warranty, you don't have to worry about dropping another $300 for a new PSU anytime soon!

1 out of 5 eggsMalfunctioned within 24 hours

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Appears to be very nice on all counts.

Cons: Malfunctioned within a day

Other Thoughts: When motherboard is switched on, unit appears to power on (fan spins) for about 15 seconds, then powers off. Tried it on 3 different motherboards, each of which works fine with other PSU's (and have total power loads < 250 watts). Can't find a solution; assume it must be a malfunctioning overload or temp circuit.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect.

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Does everything it says it will do and then some. In order to use all the cords they send with it you would have to 3 way SLI and be running 3-6 hdd/ssd's, 7 year warranty made my decision pretty easy not to mention its platinum rating, be atleast 5 years before its outdated.

Cons: It does not come with 3-4 pin connectors for fans/ cooling units. Pair it with their "Un-Beatable" case good luck hooking all the fans up. Only reason Ive given it a 4 egg rating.

Other Thoughts: All in all would I suggest this to any one building a new computer.

In order to reach the 1300 watt limit you would have to run 3 titan's 6 SSD's 32 gigs ram with an i5 and it comes with enough cords to do that and more.

1 out of 5 eggsAntec RMA

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Powers anything you can jam in a full size tower when it's working properly, kills multiple hard drives over night when it's not.

Antec Tech support is fairly fast opening RMAs and closing support tickets.

Cons: RMA service sucks. Shipped my defective unit from Canada 08/10/2013 and it's now 11/25/2013, I have heard nothing. RMA email and phone number are unresponsive so don't bother trying to get an update, I finally contacted Tech support instead of RMA services and they informed me that a replacement would eventually be shipped but they have none of these in Canada... what? Does this mean anyone trying to RMA this unit in Canada should just go buy a new one when it fails?

After 3 months without a computer I went and bought a PSU from a different company, I just got to spend another $300 on a PSU I shouldn't need. Awesome RMA service for a high end unit.

Other Thoughts: Plan to buy a backup PSU if you RMA with these guys.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Full modular design is very nice! Great selection of cables with a nice length to them. I installed in an extra large case that would have required extensions with some PSU but was not an issue with this one. All cables are covered in Black sleeving and even the exposed portion of the wires are tinted Black. If you are into ascetics, it makes a difference.

Cons: None.
