5 out of 5 eggsAntec 1300W

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: - Quiet fan unlike the 1000W and 850W Models
- works well with a Asus Xonar or Creative Sound Blaster

Cons: if your computer fails under 4 years, just uninstall.

Other Thoughts: No seriously, that was evil and cold-hearted. but, there's something either wrong with the way your computer is configured or there is a problem with your power source. I won't be able to diagnose everything but the best way is a flow chart. Are you overclocking. What are the temps on your computer. how much load are you placing on your computer and thus your power supply. how many graphics cards do you have. is there any kind of electrical or EMF interference from the way the computer was built.

I work as a technical designer in the circuit / components industry in Silicon Valley. Not that it entitles me to anything. Antecs marketed at this price range typically have a life-span of more than five years at heavy usage. it is unusual for power supplies to fail, yet, it happens All the time because the operating conditions of the product can vary immensely. user expectations divided by operating conditions will give the satisfaction of the product in terms of eggs.

if your computer fails within 4 years, as preventative maintenance, statistically speaking, the problem may be your own setup and your power conditions (e.g. faulty wiring in the home, brownouts, etc). if you suspect a power issue, buy a power conditioner. there are several brands that are available. you can also purchase a Firewall Module from a company called Lessloss, but that one is only effective for EMF. An uninterrupted power supply is useless.

My only advice is don't purchase a 1300W power supply if you're going to load it at peak or anywhere even close to a fraction of what it is stated to perform. No power supply in the world can handle that. Wattage doesn't matter. unless you are an expert in terms of Overclocking / Modding, there are so many other factors involved that the end-user is responsible. if you need Absolute power, 4 GPUs and you want a very high tolerance to failure, buy a higher-rated power supply, or use two of these in conjunction. you don't save money by buying only what you think you need. you need money to be able to spend money - having an extremely large case, two power supplies.

best of luck,

1 out of 5 eggsUpset and Questionable!

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Quiet fan. Was a free warranty replacement.

Cons: 16 pin cables are useless unless you have a Titan as Antec told me or if the future requires it. Came sealed in plastic wrap with only three 8 pin (6+2) cables. Missing the other seven cables.

Other Thoughts: My HCP-1200 was perfect with my dual EVGA GTX-580 Classified Hydro Copper, i7-2600k, Mushkin Redline 7 latency memory, Asus Xonar Xense sound card and Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z68 until it finally failed after 4 years. Warranty was 5 years. Did a warranty replacement and Antec sent me a pre-tested HCP-1300 for free stating they stressed tested it for two days. I couldn't use it with two of my cards since it came with only three 8 pin (6+2) connectors. The unit was supposed to come with ten 8 pin (6+2) connectors. After two weeks waiting for cable delivery, they sent me three more cables instead of seven. Unit worked for 2 minutes and stopped working. Video cards don't light up now, but some of the motherboards LED's do light up. Now the unit is DOA. I just hope the unit they sent me didn't fry my dual video cards, motherboard, ram and processor and sound card. I sent it back and I hope the unit they send me is brand new, includes all the cables and isn't DOA. Also sent away for a new motherboard to be used in a new backup build. (Z97-A/USB3.1, i7-4790k) Will be testing the replacement on this new board to make sure it works and then re-test it on my older board which I hope isn't burned out.

Antec told me the unit is being discontinued since a new digital version will be released sometime in 2016.

Also, very difficult getting hold of support through emails and phone. They say lifetime 24/7 support on their site. Was told that the company was moving to a new location. I hope all is good with replacement PSU. I'll write back with more information when the new unit comes in.

If "newer" unit works on delivery, I'll give it more eggs if all goes good.

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: This psu is a beast! I have put it through hell and it has never failed me. I purchased this psu in dec 2013 to run a dedicated rig running 4X R9 280X at max load pulling over 1300 watts 24hrs a day for over a year with zero issues.

I have since re purposed this psu now and using it for a new build without issues.

Cons: Price at the time was $339

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: I had upgraded my 860i from corsair when she decided to die on me. I didnt have choice but to get this one because i was at a local shop and wanted a platinum 80 plus. and only ones that were available was 860i, 1500i, and this one.

it was roughly $210 for me bc they had some special pormotion and i am set on power supply for years to come!

Cons: none so far.

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: 1300 WATTS and fulling working i am so happy that the psu from apevia that fried did not take my system with it. anyways we are a little over a week in and its perfect. the fan is not to loud and it gives so many PCI-E cords its ready to take a bite out of any challenge. last piece it only gives what the computer is asking for so it is very power efficient. my power meter barley makes a difference with or without this PSU on. HAPPY PC GAMING/LIVING!

Cons: its not greeen :)

Other Thoughts: i will keep updating from this point out how well this PSU is working once a month :) if you buy one i hope you have feel the security that i have also. the power supply comes with a 10 year manufactures warranty. ill check it again but yeah. HECK YES!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat power supply for OC'd/SLI

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: After reading several negative reviews about this products, I figured I would throw in my $.02 for whatever its worth!

I've been running this PSU for a little over 6mos without issue. I'm running 2x GTX 780TI + 4790k atm, all OC'd and on custom water cooling. The power supply has provide stable voltage to all of my components, even at a load of 1250w! My CPU is OC'd 5GHz @ 1.38vcore and my cards are OC'd +220GPU and +180 vRAM, all at 1.212v! I simply cannot say enough about how happy I am with my purchase.

If you're planning to overclock or throw in several power hungry GPU's, this is the PSU for you! Don't be fooled by negative reviews, this thing is awesome and can more than stand up to the task. 6 months and still going strong!

Cons: None so far...If any, maybe the price is a little too high considering an Enrerman REVO 1500 can be had for around the same price.

1 out of 5 eggsHardly can withstand 1300W of real use

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Packaging was nice. Construction felt solid. Nothing out of the ordinary.

One big thing of note is the length of this unit - it's an inch or two shorter than others in it's class.

Also chose this unit because the fan was recommended more than those used in other units. Was using an EVGA 1300W Supernova - arguably the most popular because of it's price/value - but the fan on it was LOUD at full load. Hence my search for a higher quality PSU with a well regarded fan.

Cons: This thing just simply can't perform. CONSTANTLY tripped OCP on an overclocked, watercooled 4930k and Titan Tri-SLi setup.

My old, louder, cheaper EVGA unit could power this just fine. I was in disbelief.

Tried different configs (and voltages), and searched around on OCN forums. Turns out this PSU really isn't as quality as you think it is.

Other Thoughts: Those that think this PSU is great are probably just kids overbuying PSU output for what they need.

Those that actually need ~1300W should be well aware this unit absolutely sucks at it. I've already wasted 2 weeks of my time thinking something else was wrong with my setup.

In a market loaded with PSU choices, this one is just not worth your time. You either don't need a 1300W unit, or you actually do need one and this one isn't it.

I was so fed up with the time I wasted on this unit, I just went big with the AX1500i instead. More expensive, but the EVGA Supernova is too loud and I don't want to deal with "should be good enough" units anymore. Anyone who needs this much power should consider the same imo.

3 out of 5 eggsFailed after 6 months

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Extreme power. I currently only need ~700 W, but am in the process of adding more to the system, such as quad SLI, a 2nd optical drive, more storage for an array, and a few more fans or perhaps liquid cooling. This is going to let me do that. In my system, it's actually pretty quite running as well. My system is a bit on the loud side due to the all the fans in it currently, but this is not even close to being that loud.

Cons: Died after 6 months. Granted, my machine ran almost constantly without sleeping since I purchased it. The only time I would turn off my computer is a few nights here and there 1 night at a time. So far, the MTBF for me is ~3900 hours. That's horrible for a PSU. Not sure if I will continue to buy Antec. I guess I'll see in a few months when my wife's HCP-1000 Platinum reaches power on time of 4000 hours.

Other Thoughts: Antec's support hours suck. 9 am-4:30 pm Pacific. This sucks for anyone that works for a living in the same time zone.

This review is from: Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: it was ok for a second.

Cons: i was thinking of getting a different PSU and i should have followed my first mind. dead within 2 weeks. its crazy because i bought this beefy thing thinking its more than enough for my build i shouldn't have to worry to much then when i needed my computer the most bang no Power for you *facepalm* i knew it.
