1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: It's modular!

Cons: Dead on arrival. I'll get a PSU from a different manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: I didn't realize it said "Desert Fox" on it when I bought it. I think the company who makes this should maybe reconsider this branding.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Power Supply

Pros: Plenty of power for my build - have a GTX 760 GeForce, one 500 gb SSD, and DVD/CD drive. It has plenty of power to run SLI with 2 video cards. It also has a quiet fan.

Modular made it so I could reduce redundancy of cords I have no purpose for.

Cons: The cords were not as flexible as i would have hoped, as they did not work well with the cable management feature with my case.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I did not need 800 Watts with my build but it is nice knowing I have the capabilities to upgrade at any time, and it is very affordable for a 80 plus gold supply.

5 out of 5 eggsReally like this PS

Pros: Being able to add and remove power connectors from the power supply was a big plus for me. Kept the install much cleaner than have all the excess power cables hogging up space.
Solid, heavy power supply. My motherboard loved it. The install from scratch with new motherboard and power supply took me a very leisurely hour. I put an I-5 quad cpu, 16gb memory, a 256gb solid state drive, and 1 gb WD black, a 620 NVidia card, 2 DVDRW drives on an asrock board, it rocks, very solid. I normally don't get all fired up by a power supply, but this thing just made me happy.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: For the money, and for me, this is the best PS around. If you want flashy lights and tons of unneeded cables, use just about anybody else's PS.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid PSU

Pros: Overall a nice unit, here are some specific reasons why:
-Would have included a 5 year warranty (see Other Thoughts)
-Has provided stable power for my computer so far and hopefully will continue to do so
-In Win has good value units, you're not paying for fancy packaging or useless bling
-Unique sandy color is weird looking in a black case but not bad
-Active PFC
-80Plus Gold Certified

Cons: While it's overall a good power supply it's not all perfect:
-Uses "Teapo" capacitors which, while not being bad, are not the best for reliability in the long run.
-Fan is too loud. It's bearing noise, not airflow noise. Unfortunately, it's a 135mm fan which is hard to find a good quality, well priced replacement for.

Other Thoughts: I don't get the warranty because I ended up buying the review sample of review site. Not a big deal, and I'll feel better about opening it up at some point to put a quieter fan on. I'm also plenty competent enough to replace the caps if/when they go bad, rather then relying on the warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Quiet Unit
Excellent packing
Fantastic operating noise
Gold Cert
Four (4) power rails
Heavy Duty power cord
Amazing Warranty
Very low heat generation

Cons: Cord covers are extremely stiff and hard to bend near connectors due to shrink wrap used. This can make them unwieldy in custom chassis where hdd's may be close together in drive rails.

Other Thoughts: Great PSU to consider re-sheathing.
Unit sold has been in operation for 6 months.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Nice looking and feel. I purchased the 800W version. The color is a stark contrast to my Cosmos II case but looks nice. *Cable length is good.
*The modular sockets are a bit unique from others.

*There are 2 PciE 6+2 power runs stock with this unit.
-One is non modular which has two 6+2 sockets on it.
-Second PciE 6+2 is modular

* There is one molex cable run
* Lots of sata connectors
* Sheath on cable runs is tight and looks good.
* Unit is silent
* No light ( Yeah! )
* 5 Year warranty
* 4 power rails- Nice - Multiple power rails are 'good' When you have more then 500 watts of power requirements in your system.
* Gold EPU Certification.
* 2/4 SLI ready. 2 if 2x6 or 2x8 is required per gpu.
-4 is 1x6 or 1x8 per gpu is needed

Cons: *The modular sockets are a bit unique from others.
-this can make replacement of sockets cumbersome for modders.

*The shrinkwrap has a rubber type glue under it which makes bending the cables near the jacks tedious. This can be a problem when working with hdd's in specific types of layouts of cable runs.

*On each PciE run there is a +2 which has a bit shorter of a cable comming out of the shrink wrap which makes it difficult to work with if you dont need it and want it out of the way. Nothing which requires modification but potentially could cause a problem in rare cases

*Tight sheath on cables like this can make them difficult to get into places where you need the cables all side by side to fit into flat areas.

* Once all the modular cables are plugged in it can be difficult to remove one in the middle of the chain. As they are all in a row there is not much room for us with larger hands.
* No light - some might not like this.
* There is no Mobo fan monitor cable -
* Relatively unknown / uncommon name ( as far as PSU's go)

Other Thoughts: The box is nice looking but not like a lot of money was spent on it. There is no real extra frills on this unit. I feel like my money was spend for the PSU and its warranty not some box, name or lights.
Unit appears very nicely designed.
