Yeah, we know: it's hard to get excited over a power supply -- unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.

The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you up to 84% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including four separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and seven peripherals, six SATA drives, two floppy drives and two PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has heat pipe technology and a 12 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.

Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. That IS exciting! Check it out for yourself.

5 out of 5 eggsDied after 5.5 years. Great job, Zalman!!!

Pros: Quiet, efficient. Long lasting!

Yesterday, my computer started to shut down in the middle of me playing a 3D heavy game. I suspected PSU and looked at my receipts... gosh, I bot this one in mid-2009! Really good job, Zalman, 5.5 years of worktime over 3 years of warranty! I'm impressed. Gonna buy the replacement from you again.

Cons: It dies, after all. R.I.P.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter 6 years

Pros: I have had this unit operating quietly and reliably for the better part of 6 years, until 2 weeks ago when it started acting strangely and died. I was upset at the time, but then realized that I could hardly remember a time when I didnt' have this unit in one computer or another. IT has survived at least two cases, motherboards, graphics chipsets, processors, and many more hard drives.

Bravo Zalman!

Cons: It died, after 6 years. oh no...

Other Thoughts: I had to go buy a corsair that wasn't nearly as swanky and robust to get my machine up and running again. Needless to say Zalman will be seeing my money again.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but ended up failing

Pros: Worked well for four years, then....

Cons: others have said, failed in not being able to boot successfully every time.

Other Thoughts: Not really sure how long people decide to purchase power supplies to last, but as others have said, after about 4 years this power supply died...every 6th time pressing start button did the system actually boot up...definitely the PSU being the issue, as a new PSU solved all problems.

4 out of 5 eggsNice and quiet

Pros: Worked great for about 4 years. Quiet. Large fan.

Cons: After 4 years it became unreliable, sometimes causing boot problems. I wasn't sure whether to suspect the motherboard, CPU (which was overclocked) or the PSU. However, a month shy of 5 years it died, and it's definately the PSU at fault.

2 out of 5 eggsNot much for stamina...

Pros: Worked as advertised...just not for very long.

Cons: Burned out after 2 years of use.

Other Thoughts: I had this power supply running for 2 years and one day my system became unstable. I just fast assumed that the CPU burned out as I was doing some heavy overclocking. I needed to build a new system and figured I might as well use parts on hand. After plugging this power supply in with the new system, on initial boot, the system won't start. I went out to get a new power supply and viola, the system booted on first try. I guess it wasn't a burned out CPU after all, but a burned out power supply. And I thought this puppy was built to last...not much for stamina.

3 out of 5 eggsThree years, six months

Pros: Lasted fine for most of the time.

Cons: Intermittently this power supply gave up the ghost and required a manual on-off toggle. Now, three years and six months after the purchase date, it is dead.

1 out of 5 eggsZalman 600-HP - Fail

Pros: Modular. Very, very quiet.

Cons: Too quiet? I wonder if the fan ever spun. Thought the Heat-pipe was taking care of business. After 1 year I began having intermittent boot failures. Then today, after 1 year 10 mo. of usage, complete failure. RMA pending.

5 out of 5 eggsStill works great after 4 years.

Pros: I have been running this PS since July 2007 (+4 years). It still runs quiet and stable.
I hate fan noise so I have a small Liquid Cooling system hooked up to my system and the PS fan noise is not noticeable unless I put my ear all the way up to the outlet.

Cons: Maybe the price is high, but since I have not had any problems with it, it seems fair.

Other Thoughts: My system runs at least 8-10 hours every day, sometimes I will have it on 24/7 for weeks at a time running Digital Video Recorder software (continous high load).

It has been running my ASUS P5K Deluxe from the beginning, the CPU has been upgraded twice E6600 -> Q6600 -> QX9650. The last CPU upgrade increased the power consumption, but the Power Supply still runs quiet.

I move my system back and forth between our house at the beach in Baja (medium/high humidity, medium heat) and our house in inland San Diego (low humidity, high heat). This change in climate does not seem to affect the PS.

2 out of 5 eggsLimited life span...beware

Pros: Quiet, modular design, good parts after it breaks

Cons: Limited service life, extremely high price

Other Thoughts: I purchased this power supply as part of a build conducted 4 years ago. I way overspent on this power supply as part of an overall system that I expected to last for many, many, many years (reference the modular part of the pros vs. cons above). Admittedly the power supply gave me plenty of warning before completely playing up, such as refusal to boot without a CMOS reset. I did not suspect the power supply until it was too late, since it exhibited the exact same problems as a bad CMOS battery. However, the Zalman unit went out completely the day before Labor Day weekend...the weekend when I had decided to use my PC to make some serious cash working at my second job. As a result, I was not able to work the hours I needed and my "investment" in this Zalman unit has cost me in excess of $1,000 of lost revenue. Other reviews have stated this power supply will last approximately 3 years before going out. I suggest if you purchase it, you get another brand as a backup "just in case"...
