Yeah, we know: it's hard to get excited over a power supply -- unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.
The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you over 80% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including two separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and four peripherals, four SATA drives, two floppy drives and two PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has a whisper quiet 12 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.
Okay, I guess power supplies CAN be pretty exciting, in a good way. Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. Check it out for yourself.
Pros: Quiet, cleanly soldered, very stable voltages, I am able to run a Radeon HD 3850 series with no issues whatsoever.
Cons: Paint is easily scratched and the 4 Pin connectors have an annoying retainer but most current builds use SATA so its not really a con just a nuisance.
Other Thoughts: I am a dell tech so I know from experience the difference between quality and cheapo PS's.

Quite, Efficient, Underrated

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I purchased this based on several, very technical reviews and I must say, I have not been disappointed. This is an extremely quite power supply that easily provides every bit of the 360watts advertised, and under load, averages around 419watts easy. An excellent PS for any HTPC.
Cons: I subtracted one egg due to the limited number of 4-pin molex power plugs. If you have multiple non-sata drives (hard drives or dvd drives), you'll want to consider upgrading at least some of them to SATA.

Pros: Works great. Comes with velcro straps for cable management. That's customer care for you.
Cons: none.
Other Thoughts: I'm running ASUS M3N78-EM with 5050e chip, and WD 1TB Green drive, and have no problems at all.

Noisy! but efficient
Reviewed By: taras on 6/11/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This thing is efficient, my system uses 73watts at idle vs 80W with my previous PSU.
Cons: The dealkiller is that as soon as I plug my psu in(without powering on the computer) it makes a high pitched electrical sound. It's extremely annoying, the sound does not go away once the computer is on. I think it's unacceptable for a supposedly silent PSU to have a defect like this.
Other Thoughts: Really disappointed in the noise

Excellent - but the first unit was noisy.

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Very quiet. The fan only spins when there is a load - and even when spinning it is inaudible. Plenty of connections for an HTPC configuration (my usage.)
Very inexpensive considering how useful this is when building a silent PC.
Cons: The first unit was noisy when a load was applied. By that I mean the circuitry itself emitted a high-frequency whine that was very noticeable and annoying from almost 10 feet away. It may have been a capacitor; I do not know for certain - I had to send that one back.
Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with my second time at bat with these. I felt that it was a shame that the first was (apparently) not tested for noise under load which thereby cost me extra time and extra shipping money; hence the reason for 4 and not 5 stars.
