4 out of 5 eggsOK for the price, works!

Pros: Cheapest power supply with the 8-pin connector I need for my AMD64. Came with a separate p2 connector for the motherboard, a plus!

Cons: Wish it had more SATA connectors. 24-pin connector was a pain to put in, as they are separated. 18A at the rail is OK, but I'm sure it puts out less than that under load.

Other Thoughts: For the cost, this will get your system up and running. I wouldn't look long term with this though, especially if you plan to use SLI.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Power Supply

Pros: This is an excellent power supply. I have had this for almost a year and it has not once faltered or caused any problems. Installation was easy and despite the fact there are so many cables (and I hade a mid tower) I was able to tuck them away easily because they are all bound. It also has no lack of connectors for any use possible, haven't even used half of them. This power supply has even withstood a few power outages and power surgages. 11 out of 10 in my book.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggs2 bad in a row

Pros: As of now, I can't think of any pros

Cons: This is the second Masscool I got i a week, and this is worse than the first. 12 volt rail fluctuates from 11.71 to 11.77, and that's before anything even loads, because Windows won't even stay running long enough to get tests.

The rest of the voltages are off, also, like, 4.7 for the 5 volt, 1.2 for the 1.5 volt.

Other Thoughts: So, we now have two Plus and 2 Minus votes for this psu. Maybe I just got unlucky, but.....
I won't be trying a third one.

3 out of 5 eggsLow 12v

Pros: It appears well made. Sheathed cables.

Cons: 12 volt rail drops to 11.77, spontaneous lockups when using it as UT LAN server. ;(

Other Thoughts: Works ok in another new system that is configured with 4-250 SATA drives in RAID 0+1, 2-120mm fans, single CD-RW. Repeatedly runs Passmark Burnin Test with no errors, while running a Spyware Detector full scan at the same time.

I have another one on order, I'll review that one for an average of the two, but 11.77 is unacceptable for a 460 w psu.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Very sturdy, heavy construction, well-wrapped cables, superb voltage lines under heavy load. I dare anyone to find a better PSU in the 450-500W range for this price.

Cons: Why not just market this as "Nextherm", which it is, instead of that silly name "Masscool"? OK Newegg, when will you carry a Masscool/Nextherm 550 or 600Watt model?

Other Thoughts: Running a Asus P5WD2/Pentium 930 system overclocked to 4.0GHZ. Under full load, as monitored by Asus Probe, these are my voltage rails: 12+ -- 12.14v, 5+ -- 5.15v, 3.3 -- 3.39. You simply can't find this quality in mid-power PSUs for this price anywhere else, at least not that I've seen. Unless you are running four hard drives and the most demanding SLI/Crossfire in a system, you can't go wrong with this PSU.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent server power supply. It's very heavy and has fairly quiet fans. I will be purchasing more in the future.

Cons: None.
