The NexStar CX from Vantec is smaller than a paperback book and slips easily into a pocket or purse for portability. A carrying case keeps the metallic black finish from scratching.

This USB 2.0 enclosure holds an 2.5" SATA drive for high speed operation. During operation the aluminum housing works as a heat sink to keep the drive cool and extend its life. USB powers the drive, so there's no need to carry power cables with you. A USB cable with pass through port is included so you don't lose a port when connecting your drive. Since it's a USB drive it makes it easy to transfer data between PCs and Macs.

Liked it so much, bought another one for a spare drive I had laying around. Cons: The screws are TINY and you have to twist REALLY hard to get them all the way in (don't drop one!!!). Cons: NUN Other Thoughts: I have an Acer laptop that started taking up to 10 minutes to boot up, programs would hang or just freeze indefinitley and I couldn't access a lot of most of my important files. Then my screen would just go black and it would just shut down. My usb ports or card reader wouldn't respond to my external hard drive or thumb drive and I was really stressing about losing my data. I took a chance on buying this enclosure put in my laptop drive and was able to transfer all my data within about an hour which ha about 100GB of video and hundreds of pictures. Putting my SAMSUNG Spinpoint ST1000LM024 1TB HD in this enclosure went well. I used care and common sense putting this HD into this case. Using steady moderated force I separated the 2 halves. Putting the HD into this case went easy. Again moderated force was used to slide the case back together. I plugged both USB cables in to my PC and the HD worked well. The HD was formatted for Windows 7, 64 bit OS. Plugged the case in to a USB 3.0 outlet and it was detected and operated as it should have. Cons: None so far. Other Thoughts: A good buy this far. I've had this thing for 3 years and it's still chugging along. Just don't drop it with your hard drive in it and you'll be fine. I've swapped multiple hard drives with ease. Currently holding a 500GB drive. Cons: Don't drop it! Other Thoughts: If I was strapped for cash, I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I've used this enclosure for 6 laptop hard drive transplants now, and couldn't be happier.
