5 out of 5 eggsSolid performer

Pros: After 10 months of use it is still a work horse. I've used this for standard HDD dock duties most of the time, most often with a single drive in one of the bays. I have cloned 10 drives with it, some for use in raid, so the feature is quite nice if you need it (it's great to be able to create an exact copy of a drive without your pc being involved). I've used this dock for extended copies, moving 2 TB of data at a time, and it has performed flawlessly every time. My dock has been used on a Windows 7 x64 system primarily, but it works just as will with an older computer running Linux Mint 17.

Cons: The only con that I have found is the same con that exists with every dock - the lack of air circulation. Whenever I use a dock I always point a fan at the drive. It only takes a minute and it will keep your drive(s) cool while you move data.

Other Thoughts: For the money this dock is a good deal. I have tried other docks of a brand which I will not mention here and it kept dismounting. I'd rather spend an extra $10 or $15 and get a reliable Vantec than something cheaper that won't stay mounted.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks!

Pros: Did exactly what it said it would do. I needed to do a simple "1 button" clone of a laptop hard drive that had reported a SMART event of an impending failure. Loaded both the old (250 gig) and new (500 gig) drive, turned on power, hit button, and in less than an hour, it was cloned. Popped in new drive, set a partition for the additional space, and all is good. Chose this one because it had better reviews than some of the cheaper external docking station/duplicators.

Cons: So far none.... time will tell.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay, it works.

Pros: It works.

Cons: If you have more than one external dock you need to plug them in after reboot.

Other Thoughts: There is better value out there.

4 out of 5 eggsHandy cloning and backup device

Pros: Handy, quic swappable drives

Cons: No cooling on drives. 4TB drives run hot, so I'd not want to use it for on-line storage, but great for back up, OTOH 4TB takes overnight to back up so they run hot for quite a while

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: This device did exactly what it was supposed to. Mirrored my old drives so I could install my new ones without a glitch. If you put your new drive in, that you just copied, and it doesn't seem to work, just put your Windows CD in the drive when you boot up and off you go...

Cons: None. It did EXACTLY what it was supposed to.

2 out of 5 eggsIt is very slow

Pros: It´s very easy to use.

Cons: I tought would be faster to copy my hard disc by the duplicator but the time is so much. I did a copy of a 4 Tb disc with 1.2 Tb used. It takes 8 hours to copy it !!! I had done a copy before by means of the computer and it takes also around 8 hours.

1 out of 5 eggsQuestionable

Pros: Price easy access

Cons: Function
I tried this item to copy two raid drives that were over 1 year old and I was going to replace the drives with new ones anyway. I removed one raid drive and placed it in the device and added a new drive to the device. Then I turned it on a VERY VERY long time later the 1T drive was finished being copied, I placed the "NEW" drive into the machine to replace the old drive, and the computer said.... Unknown drive IE it did NOT copy data sector by sector as it should have and it even states that it would copy raid id's it does NOT. I then had the drive rebuild from the raid controller and it worked flawlessly. I then took out the other original drive and tried it with another new drive same results. LOTS and LOTS of time ZERO results.
I have no idea if this will work on normal drives in a normal computer but I would assume it will have issues as well, as raid drives are no different.

Just to be extra special sure, I took BOTH drives out of the machine and copied BOTH raid drives (mirror) raid 1 and then replaced the entire raid unit with the two drives I copied most of a day to do, and again it failed. it will NOT copy raid drives that I can tell, which is a total waste of this device.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job. Cable is cheap

Pros: It does the advertised job. That is it works as an external dock for 2 HDs. Just pop the drives in and you can access them. I have not yet tried the disk copy feature however.

Cons: Here is the con - the unit I got has a really lousy USB cable such that the slight change in the position of the cable on my workstation causes the drives to not be seen. Took me 2 weeks to figure out the issue. Basically a lousy cable. Have not Tried a different usb cable yet.

Other Thoughts: Biggest issue is the usb cable. maybe your will be better

1 out of 5 eggsDead in Two Days

Pros: Duplicates while alive

Cons: AC adapter may not allow unit to draw enough power to spin disks

Other Thoughts: Won't fully power after 2 uses
