1 out of 5 eggsFaulty

Pros: Works as intended as a stand a lone unit

Cons: If you daisy chain these units together they become unreliable. Keyboard and mouse support will drop out frequently. Power cycling the unit is impossible due to the vga/KB/mouse bleeding power back into the unit. So when the unit crashes, and it will frequently you will have to either shut down every server attached to it and power it back up in the correct order or unplug each computer from the KVM. Which should take you an hour or two to label each cable before you remove them, unscrew the miniature thumbscrew, power-cycle the unit in the magical order, then put the cables back in when the thumbscrews don't line up even when seated properly. Oh yeah if it doesn't work tech support will ask you to do the same thing over again until it works.

Other Thoughts: Belkin tech support is useless. They all have a heavy undecipherable dialect. They hang up on you. If you reach level 3 it can take 2 days for them to call you back. (I assume they can call you in the middle of the night too). They will readily replace your product with a new one (they will charge you $500 until they receive your unit) but it wont fix anything.

Here is a typical support call.
Level 1- name, email, phone number explain issue 2 min hold. repeat same issue because they weren't listening 5 min hold. Repeat same issue again 5 min hold. "were moving you to level 2" (yay I leveled up).

Level 2 - name, email, phone number explain issue 2 min hold. repeat same issue because they weren't listening 5 min hold. Repeat same issue again 5 min hold. "were moving you to level 3" (yay I leveled up).

Level 3 - woot level 3. No ones there we will call you in 48 hours. Hope you're not asleep.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Worst

Pros: 1. It has 16 ports.
2. 1u design.
3. Nice cable design. (plugs on the back of the unit look like HD50 SCSI connectors)

Cons: 1. It locks up constantly. When it stops responding, the keyboard\mouse do not work and buttons on the front do not work. It will stop working once a day, once a week when ever it feels like it. You then HAVE to power cycle the unit.

2. It also does not turn off the monitor with the power management settings on the os\hardware it is plugged into. It will just blank the screen, which will wear out a monitor unreasonably quicker. Not acceptable.

3. Tech support is terrible. Their response was to remove all the kvm cables from the back, rest the unit of which I told them I had already done multiple times then reattach the cables. Basically he insisted that it fixed the problem, even when I told him that it would work for a while then stop again. So every time I need to use the console I have to power cycle the unit to use it.

Other Thoughts: I work at a school district in which we used an older 8 port ps2 pro2 model (I believe) for several years with 0 problems.

We did not buy this kvm from newegg and yes we do have this model and hate it. I think we will be looking for a different brand.

1 out of 5 eggsSave your money and time

Pros: Great idea. but they can't pull it off.

Cons: Worst support and worst product I have ever worked with. KVM's will work fair as stand alone, but as soon as you try to cascade them, be ready to do a ton of resets and be on tech support for a very long time talking to someone that barely speaks english. Once you do get to an escalated service level, they will tell you the tech will call you back in 24-48 hours. Used all of their cables (as required) and even had the Mfg. send 2 brand new units only to find the same problems. Taken over 3-weeks for 2 simple kvm's that are still not operational. One phone call to support (and there was many due to being disconnected) took 102 minutes and that was just one of many calls. Unless you crave being mad and frustrated, don't buy this product.

Other Thoughts: JUNK, JUNK, JUNK!!!

1 out of 5 eggsBelkin KVM - not so good

Pros: Small package

Cons: Connectors loose and poorly fitting. Switch has flash update port, but no instructions or references in manual. Switch worked for part of a day and then quit. Reset function (not documented) didn't work. Several layers of CS agents didn't help solve problem. They finally told us to contact the reseller for return. Sounds like this is a common occurence.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't do it.

Pros: 16 ports. Convenient cabling.

Cons: Poor workmanship, cable nuts don't fit KVM bolt holes (50 pin scsi). Bands in the monitor. You MUST press the scroll lock 2 times, there is a trick to this that must be learned. On older Belkin KVM's you could hold the scroll button for just a second, then press up or dow two switch, not with this one.

I RMA'd the device only two recieve one back that had the same issues. Not to mention that when there is a problem you're shifted to Planet Mars for customer service. This in and of itself is not a problem for me, it's just that the 3 CS reps I got were absolutely worthless. I tribute this most like to the amount of dissatisfied people that call. In the end I can't return the item. I must eat the price while it sits in a box.
