4 out of 5 eggsGreat little Hub

Pros: Powered, USB 3.0 runs smoothly, able to keep speeds up with multiple devices connected.

Cons: None really worked great right out of the box.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid, mostly-happy

Pros: While plastic, very solidly built. Blue power LED isn't obnoxious like some adaptors since it's inside of black-semi-transparent plastic.

Currently using 2 in series on my 13" rMBP connected to one of the USB3 outlets. I mounted these Belikins under my laptop cooling stand. Their small form factor makes them fit just right so they look like they are part of the stand. =~). Have a gigabit->USB3 dongle attached to the 2nd hub and still get full gigabit throughput and no noticeable difference in latency (with a few ms).

Cons: I have occasional connectivity/spastic behavior from a couple of my devices - my MS Lifechat LX-6000s and my MS Sculpt Keyboark RF receiver. Both work flawlessly when connected directly to my Mac's USB port, but the Sculpt becomes neigh unusable (lag and lost keystrokes) when connected through these hubs. Hard to say wether it's the hub's fault or my Mac's or the device. Probably a combination.

Other Thoughts: I had nearly thrown away my Sculpt when in a last ditch effort, I plugged the RF USB receiver directly into my mac and it started working.

5 out of 5 eggs8 is better than 4!

Pros: Bought the new Alienware 18 laptop and was alightly disappointed with the number of USB 3.0 port on it. This guy pretty much doubled what I had short of needing o use 1 port to expand the hub.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Would live to use the 3.0 power port available on the Alienware to power the hub, but as we all know, an external power source is in fact the best way to go with a hub.

2 out of 5 eggsNot great for what I needed...

Pros: Comes with USB 3.0 cable and power supply. Slim and discreet.

Cons: First MAJOR con for me is that it WILL NOT power devices unless the USB 3.0 cable is plugged into an ACTIVE USB port. This means that you cannot just plug it into the wall and charge your phones. You also must make sure your USB ports get power during Stand By and/or when PC is shutdown.

I use mine on my desk to keep my phone charged and use my E-Cig USB device to vape all day while working. I often get a warning from Windows 7 that "USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port." How in the heck can that even happen, it should be drawing the bulk of its power from the Power Supply, not the port...

Disappointed overall, my $10 "gas station bought" USB 2.0 hub did all of this and never had a problem. I only wanted to upgrade to 3.0 and now kind of regret the purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT work with USB 1.1

Pros: Small, looks nice, Blue LED lights for each port connected.

My USB 3.0 flash drive works fine on it.

Cons: Not backwards compatible with USB 1.1 devices, including many mice and keyboards, or USB 2.0 hubs. It says it's backwards-compatible with USB2.0, not 1.1 specifically, but since USB 2.0 is itself backwards-compatible with 1.1, you may make the assumption that it's fully backwards-compatible. It's not.

I got this thing, plugged in my microsoft keyboard and microsoft mouse, and they didn't work at all. I also tried to plug in my old USB 2.0 hub that I had used with that same keyboard and mouse, and got nothing. So much for "full" USB 2.0 compatibility.

If it's not truly backwards-compatible, they needed to say so. I spent a substantial amount of time on Newegg trying to decide which USB 3.0 hub to buy, and there was nothing to indicate this would be as big of a failure as it is. I can't help but feel ripped off. This thing is completely useless to me and now I have to go find a better one.

Other Thoughts: For the sky-high price of this thing, I would not have expected them to cut corners so much on basic functionality. I guess after all these years Belkin is still not the quality brand they pretend to be. I certainly feel cheated having paid more for this name.

5 out of 5 eggsNice USB 3.0 Hub

Pros: Small, low-profile. Mine came with a 4' USB 3.0 cable, which is perfect to reach from the back of my mid-tower case to the top of my desk. Flawless operation.

Cons: Comes with a 'wall-wart' power supply rated at 5 Vdc/4A, and the cord is only 1 m long. This is shorter than the supplied USB cable and may constrain placement of the device. (You don't need the power supply for the hub to function, but to get 900 mA/port from the hub I expect you'll need it.)

Other Thoughts: Not a lot of documentation available. Would have been nice to know the cord lengths before buying (which is why I'm writing this). There are four blue LED indicators 'hidden' on the top face that indicate a connected device on each of the four ports.

I did NOT see any speed penalty when using my USB 3.0 card reader, USB 2.0 keyboard and USB 2.0 mouse all connected through this hub; I was able to read from my PNY P-SDX64U1H-GES3 at 90 MB/sec with the mouse and keyboard connected. I knew USB 2.0 devices were supposed to work, but I wasn't sure if the USB 3.0 devices would continue to operate at 'super' speed. I'm going to dock my tech knowledge one egg for not knowing this. :)

5 out of 5 eggsBelkin to the rescue

Pros: Need a 4 port hub? This is it. Powered or not, it works flawlessly. Nice size, fits perfectly on your desktop. Some say the power supply is large. it is but made very well and will probably last a very long time, not like some of the cheaply made power supplies that are around and who cares about the size, its under the desk anyway. Great product. you cant beat Belkin. they've been around for decades.

Cons: Haven't found any yet

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. They make great cables too.
