1 out of 5 eggsNo good with mixed connectors

Pros: Hard to say since it doesn't work.

Cons: Will not function properly if you have mixed video connectors.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if this limitation was noted in the specifications. I could have saved some time and hassle. Now I have to find another option and RMA this one. Too bad as it appears to be a nice unit; I had a Belkin PS/2 & D-Sub KVM cable like this that worked flawlessly for years & would still be using it if I didn't need to switch connection technology.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. We are sorry that your VGA computer doesn’t work with this KVM, that’s due to the fact that this is a DVI-D KVM as mentioned on the product name. The word D at the end of DVI-D means that it only supports digital signal; therefore, using a DVI-A to VGA adapter will not work since VGA is an analog signal. However, we would suggest you to use a GCS632U, which is a VGA KVM, we have attached a newegg link for your reference. You just need to ensure your computer’s DVI output is DVI-I supported, which means it supports both analog and digital signal, then you can use a DVI-A to VGA adapter on your DVI computer. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact our tech support at 1(866)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Other Thoughts: Bought from newegg-the best out there.

5 out of 5 eggsIOGEAR GCS932U 2-Port DVI-D KVM

Pros: DVI+USB+Audio connectors. The unit is streamlined compared to other KVM units. I also like the pigtail toggle button. It has a green LED ring that indicates which port is being used. Left half = Computer 1; Right half = Computer 2. Overall, the KVM is great and is inconspicuous; just what I was looking for.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I considered another IOGEAR product, GCS942UW6 Hybrid DVI-D KVM (it has a PS/2 and USB connector) but opted for this model with a new USB keyboard.

3 out of 5 eggsVista / Windows 7 problem

Pros: I've had no problems for a year under Windows XP.

Cons: Does not work properly with dual-monitor setups. Search for "Windows 7 KVM problem" for more info. Microsoft wants you to buy more expensive hardware because writing stable software is really not their thing.

Other Thoughts: It's unfortunate that by upgrading to a new version of Windows you have to scrap the older hardware. IOGear should have gotten some warning I'm sure, or perhaps predicted the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. Your video issue in Windows 7 is due to Microsoft has changed the way of interaction between your video card and your monitor. Since IOGEAR is a leader of KVM, we have KVMs that can resolve this problem. The model that has just been launched which is GCS932UB, this unit has built-in display emulation technology which would resolve the Windows 7 display issue. Or any of our KVM that has display emulation technology would work fine under Windows 7. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact our tech support 7 days a week at 1(866)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: None so far

Cons: I purchased this item back in February, but just got around to installing it today (I didn't have a DVI connector on the video card in one of my PCs so was still using an old Linksys KVM).

Ripped out all the wiring for the old KVM, hooked this unit up and NO VIDEO. Keyboard and Mouse seem to work fine, but no video at all on either of the PCs.

Other Thoughts: I guess I am out $100 bucks, since there are no options to RMA this unit now.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. From your description, it seems like you have a bad unit. You can verify that by having the monitor connect to the computer directly with the same DVI cable that you use for the KVM and see if it works with direct connection. And try swapping port 1 and port 2’s computers and see if it makes a different. Please note that this KVM is a DVI-D KVM, a DVI to VGA adapter will not work on this device. If you have the same result trying the different scenarios, it’s really possible that you have a bad unit. But since this device is backed by IOGEAR’s 3 year warranty, please feel free to give our tech support a call at 1(866)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

4 out of 5 eggsGood solution for small spaces

Pros: Good construction with caps for unused audio plugs. Switches back and forth with little delay.

Cons: Barely audible high pitched noise when moving mouse when no other audio is playing.

Other Thoughts: Using to switch between XP and Ubuntu boxes with Saitek keyboard and 5-button mouse.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, but not quite perfect

Pros: Worked with a DVI-D to HDMI adapter.
Worked with an un-powered USB hub.
Good physical switch, and lots of hotkey support for various configurations.
Not too cumbersome.

Cons: Cables too short to reach all USB ports on laptop.
Required some tiny additional purchases to work with my laptop.
Takes 2-3 seconds to switch video.
Lost mouse signal intermittently, forcing reboot.
Switching occasionally re-sets resolution

Other Thoughts: I got this to work with a Vista laptop and an XP workstation. Long story short: it works, but it does have some intermittent usb recognition issues, there is a few seconds of dely when switching, and to use it with my setup, I had to buy a few more doo-dads (an HDMI to DVI-D Adapter and a simple, un-powered USB hub. Unless you have at least 2 USB ports near your video-out, Laptop users should just order a hub along with their KVM. IOGEAR could have provided longer USB input cables that could reach accross a laptop, but this is a slight gripe considering my ultimate success. The delay when switching isn't a deal breaker, but those wanting an instantaneous switch need look elsewhere. The biggest problem is that it often fails to recognize the mouse on my desktop, and that's without a hub in play. So if you are using two desktops and don't mind occasional reboots, this is an OK KVM. Still, it's far from perfect.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. We have just launched a step up version of the GCS932U which is the GCS932UB that would fit you best. The cables are both 4ft long, longer than the current one that you have. And it has Display Emulation Technology to avoid the resets of resolution while booting up without KVM focus. On top of that, you can switch port by double-clicking scroll wheel on the mouse besides the remote pushbutton and hotkeys. As for mouse signal losing, this GCS932UB has Mouse Emulation Technology to resolve your concern. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact our tech support 7 days a week at 1(86^)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Worked great out of the box. I also had the PS2 version for a year or so now and never had a problem with it. Use it with my desktop and laptop and resolution is perfect.

Cons: Wish the cables were a little longer...but that is probably true of all KVMs.

Other Thoughts: A couple things that might help you...

1) I wasn't 100% sure it would work with a wireless keyboard/mouse, but sure enough, not a problem at all(use Microsoft keyboard and mouse).
2) I dual boot my desktop and at first it wouldn't recognize it, but had to go into the BIOS and change "recoginze USB keyboard an mouse" to enabled. After that worked perfect!
3) The connector to the monitor is female. So make sure you already have a DVI male/male to use. I lost my original one and had to go pick one up before I could use it.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Really Well

Pros: - The cables are adequate in length.
- It works well.
- It supports both DVI and USB (Yay!).

Cons: - The shape and stiffness of the device can make it a little difficult to work with.
- The "G" keys on my Logitech G11 aren't recognized.
- Sometimes after a switch the display is fuzzy.
- Sometimes the max display resolution isn't detected properly.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with this KVM switch. I'm switching between a Windows Vista desktop and my MacBook Pro with no serious issues. On the Windows side, my "G" keys don't work anymore (the keyboard is no longer recognized as a G11), but there are no problems at all on my MacBook.

Occasionally (usually on the Windows side) when I switch over the display will be a colorful fuzz, but that is quickly resolved my switching out and back again. It has only occurred if I haven't used the desktop for long periods of time (hours). Also the first time you plug everything up Windows doesn't detect the resolution properly - "Detect Displays" fixes this immediately.

As I mentioned, the cables are pretty stiff, so it can be tough to get them organized how you want them. I solved this issue with liberal dose of small black zip ties. They're about $4 per 100 from Lowe's and they hide pretty easily.

Despite this small issues , I love this switch. I would certainly buy it again (and I may for w

1 out of 5 eggsWorst ever

Pros: Small package, nice connections, easy to use.

Cons: This causes ALL of my Mac's to have USB errors. With this unit plugged in, my Mac Pro can not use a USB hard drive. Also, it can not be plugged into a hub. If you boot a computer with the console set to the other box, the one booting comes up at 1024x768, and not the native for the monitor.

Other Thoughts: This is great for a PC-Only setup. Avoid it if you are working with Mac's too.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. Our GCS932U is fully Mac compatible; it does work fine with Mac Pro. What you have experienced maybe caused by conflicts between different USB devices or different USB cables. To troubleshoot your setup, you can try the following: 1) leave the USB harddrive connected to the Mac Pro, make sure the harddrive is powered with power adapter, especially 2.5” external harddrives. 2) Make sure the USB harddrive is in a Mac supported format 3) Eliminate other USB device from your Mac Pro 1 by 1 and try using the harddrive every time you unplug a USB device from your Mac Pro. This way you should be able to find which exact device is having conflict with the USB harddrive. After this, try changing different USB cables on those conflict devices to make sure the USB cables are good. If you have any further question, please feel free to contact our tech support 7 days a week at 1(866)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you.
