5 out of 5 eggsI have owned many KVMs but this is the best

Pros: It works with a fairly complicated setup I am using with 4 PCs including a laptop where I use a dual-display, e.g. laptop + LCD monitor display simultaneously the same desktop. The monitor I am using does not have great resolution, only 1680x1050. Planning to go to 2560 next with new monitor. Hopefully, nothing will change. I have have had countless of issues with this setup but finally I am a happy camper as long as nothing breaks.

Cons: It is not cheap but it works well. Much more compact than Belkin SOHO. It has a metal case which feels solid, although controls to switch between PCs are a bit too crowded, but then one generally uses the keyboard to switch among PCs anyhow.

Other Thoughts: I have had several SOHO Belkins before which I liked but they typically broke after a year or so of use. Typically USB mouse no longer worked on at least out of 1/4 channels. Remains to be seen if IoGear can keep my current enthusiasm in terms of I have had several SOHO Belkins in the past which I liked but hd serious reliability issues as often 1/4 USB channel would fail, e.g. you are without mouse/keyboard on that PC. IoGear has a 3-year warranty - same as Belkin. This time I am keeping my receipt in case the KVM expires before the warranty. Actually bought the IoGear KVM from another Web supplier since NewEgg was about 13% more expensive. Generally NewEgg is pretty competitive. For some reason not here. But it's OK, I spent enough money on those guys anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsDid not work for me either

Pros: EDID caching works, you can boot all 4 machines at the same time. Mouse emulation is nice, it means when you switch from one machine to the other, the machines do not see the mouse unplugged / plugged in. I tried and it works with a basic mouse. Includes good quality cables (major plus).

Cons: Mouse emulation does not work with Logitech G5, you have to disable mouse emulation. Keyboard emulation chokes on G15, results keys sticking, and since keyboard emulation can not be disabled (which is logical), I had to return the product.

Other Thoughts: This is an expensive KVM, so you expect people buying it to have the money / interest to buy high end peripherals to be used with it. Sadly it chokes at least on my Logitech ones. My older IOGear GCS1764 has no EDID caching and no mouse emulation, but handles the keyboard just fine. IOGear is not good in releasing firmware fixes, plus they deny the existence of any problem with this product, so I returned mine. If you use it with a basic keyboard / mouse it is probably fine. I would avoid it until (if ever) IOGear releases a firmware update.

3 out of 5 eggsG15 V1 work, G15 V2 don't for me...

Pros: n/a

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Please speak up if you have a g15 v2 and this KVM works.. (no lag, no dropped characters, repeat/stuck repeat when using alt-tab

I have a blue v1 G15 and it works fine.. but the orange v2 g15 does not.. problems as noted above..

could it be a bad orange g15?? that only effects KVM?

Also please reply if a G19 work with this..

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and sorry about your experience. Logitech G15 keyboard will work as a standard keyboard if you connect it to the console keyboard port. If you connect it to the peripheral sharing port, then you can use the full feature of your keyboard; however this way you will lose the hotkey because you are not using the console keyboard port. If you have connected the keyboard to the console keyboard port and it does not work as a standard keyboard, we believe you have a bad unit. Since this unit is backed by IOGEAR’s 3 year warranty, please feel free to contact our tech support 7 days a week at 1(866)946-4327 and we would be glad to assist you. Once again thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

3 out of 5 eggs3 stars standing.. might have to return

Pros: This KVM should handle all your needs for an advanced 2 computer system user. (it did not for me, a gamer)

Cons: Keyboard lag on G15 is horrifying.
Price Tag
Support not really present, noone online to take my call or live chat nights or weekends... Manual is for 2 port model. Probably same info but that alone tells you to wait.
So far i have to wait for support, but I doubt they can help with my problem.
This device says it's for gamers, but as of 7/26/09 it fails on G15, the most popular gaming keyboard on the market.
Mouse used is MX 518
I can barely get a sentenced typed out, constant dropped or repeated characters, and if you use alt-tab, you get a barrage of stuck comands until you hit esc.. be very careful what you load and what user access level you are in when setting this up or possible destruction may occur.

Other Thoughts: Its 36 hours later now and I know this device inside out. Turning off the mouse emulaton uisng (numlock + -, m) did reduce "SOME" keyboard lag... Did not fix problem.Turning off keyboard emulatio via Numlock + -, F10) did reduce "SOME" more keyboard lag.. Not fix, and it is still awful, cant even write a sentence without lag or missing characters. takes me 1500% longer to type now... maybe 3000%, not joking

Monday, I will check support if they have another solution, but it appears device is to be returned, not defective, just not capable of doing its job.. im suppose to buy and use cheaper keyboard to use this? Not going to happen.

$649 price tag is wrong, Retail is $479.99 on IOMEGA site... you also can buy this cheaper elsewhere, newegg seem to dropship this straight from IOmega, came from IL, wierd, We have to start price checking Newegg now...?? Free shipping but jacked price lol.. newegg you're losing it these last years.. dump the stupid mall and do what u use to do best

3 out of 5 eggsI dived in

Pros: high quality sound sharing,
includes all the cables (assuming they are quality)

Other Thoughts: I just bought it as I need KVM with decent audio share.. As whats the point of sharing with a normal speaker jack when I have a 5.1 system...

Someone figured it out finally.. I mean its been common sense desired for 5 years now..

Anyhow, my review will come in the next 48 hours. I just want to say already, the price tag even with this supposed huge discount it's still overpriced.

IoMega has this goofy idea in their head (well they know its PHONEY, but want to rip you) because a KVM can replace expensive monitor they can charge you more because you still saving from buying 2nd monitor.. PFT, complete hypocrital sales mumbo jumbo

And no, that is NOT the reason I bought this and got ripped off. I bought it to save me the headache of using another keyboard and sound nothing more. Iomega continues to abuse this method of thought to rip us off..

Just want to state this cuz i know IoMega will be in here giving this excuse.. its what they do here
