5 out of 5 eggsGood KVM Switch

Pros: Plug and play functionality allows for ease of use. LEDs allow users to know which computer it is currently connected to. Device does not require an AC adapter and is powered by the two USB cables used to connect KVM to the computer. Good features for the price.

Cons: Slight delay in detecting devices may bother some users but the time spent waiting is almost negligible.

Other Thoughts: Would buy again in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsIOGear 4 port USB KVM Switch

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Haven't had any issues unlike the 2 port version.

Cons: No port info displayed on screen. No port numbers on the cables. I haven't looked into it but I believe no keyboard short cut. No sound ports and the switch on a rope is a bit of a PITA. But I knew all this going in so I can't take any stars off for these, this is just a FYI for any one buying one of these.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this item for anyone with a collection of junk like me.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this KVM Switch!

Pros: Very compact, uses USB ports for mouse and keyboard instead of PS2 ports. Includes full set of 4 cable to PC. I like the pushbutton to select which PC to use.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: Very happy to have this device after having a switch that had cables coming out on 3 sides that took up a lot of space.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Instant Switching

Pros: 45 inch cables (max reach) good for 3.5 foot each.
Small size and simple to connect and use. Remote switch is a nice plus. USB device works well with XP x64, Win 7 and Win 8.

Cons: Slow to respond on Windows 7 while USB is detected yet reacts nearly instantly on XP x64. This could be hardware or driver related yet no other issues exist other that having to wait 2-5 seconds for keyboard when switching to Windows 7 system, the mouse and video are usually less than 3 seconds.

Other Thoughts: As with any USB device, it is released and again detected by the hardware/software when switched. My old KVM was PS2/VGA and was exempt from this loss/detection issue.

5 out of 5 eggsBest SOHO KVM

Pros: Fast, responsive, easy cable management, trivial setup, trivial machine toggle method.

Cons: I am a bit worried about the thin gauge of the cable to the control/toggle switch, but so far so good.

Other Thoughts: Simple and effective design. I did get it on sale, but even at the standard price, this is incredible for a 4x1 KVM with USB. No fancy control key sequences necessary. Keep it simple, and keep it stable. There is not a whole lot more to say, because it is really just a great cable management system for 4 machines and one control setup. I am not sure why more KVMs take this same straight to the point approach. I absolutely recommend this for anyone wanting a fast, cheap, but rock solid KVM solution!

4 out of 5 eggsTad bit finicky

Pros: Simple setup, clear LEDs on base

Cons: Doesn't always pick up the keyboard, have to cycle thru again to get the switch to recognize the keyboard. Even had to unplug/replug the keyboard to the switch to get it to recognize.

Other Thoughts: Cheap Cheap Cheap. if you are going to do a LOT of switching, invest in something a bit more reliable. Mine still works, but I'm already looking for a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsLuuuuv It!!!

Pros: Not sure where to start but there are lots of pros
Works with my 4 rack system in my home office
Works using my Logitech Nano wireless mouse.
Very small and the cables are permanently attached to the switcher eliminating a lot of bulk removable connectors have on other units.
Love the remote switcher. I keep it next to my mouse on the desktop.
Using it with Win 7 Ultimate x64 and XP Pro 32bit

Cons: I have yet to discovery any. No really. I like it that much. There is not much I purchase that I am really pleased with but this is one of those things. See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I have 4 19inch rack systems in my home office that I use this with. A Z77 based i3 primary media server, a B75 based i3 backup server, a Z68 based i3 media capture workstation, and an old Asus P4P8 pentium 4 socket 478 based system. This switcher works seamlessly with all of them. I have a Logitech USB Wave keyboard and Logitech M310 wireless mouse that I use with the KVM.
This unit replaces a PS/2 Trendnet TK-400 that never really worked correctly. The mouse in the old unit would disappear requiring a reboot of the affected machine. I like the fact that the only screw on connector is for the VGA monitor. The unit is black and blends right into the top of my desk and my black equipment rack next to it. There is almost zero clutter now. I will likely replace my other PS/2 kvm with one of these even though it still works.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little device

Pros: These little guys work great. I use them in our computer repair shop. They do need one USB plugged in, so that it may power itself. The button has a very long wire which is helpful. There is no delay in flipping between monitors. The USB lights up instantly, too. I hate delayed KVMs.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I label my plugs 1-4 so I know which PC is which. After a couple years, my main unit died. I'm ordering a handful this time just to keep a few in stock. If they stop making them, I will be disappointed, because they work perfectly for daily close at hand PC swapping.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality engineering

Pros: None....could not get it to work.

Cons: Would not switch between computers, despite using various configurations and keyboards. No technical support.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed that Newegg would sell this junk.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. To better service you and understand your set up, please feel to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: support@iogear.com. The GCS24U is a plug and play KVM. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Compact; good length on the cord for the button

Cons: Could use a bit more length on the cords for the actual devices; no rubber grips or texture variation on the bottom of the box, which would be helpful when dealing with so many large cables that tend to pull it out of place (I wound up using Velcro pads)
