4 out of 5 eggsGood, Strong Switch

Pros: Physical Toggle
Costpoint
Ease of Use

Cons: Doesn't like gaming mice -- have to turn mouse emulation off

Other Thoughts: I've had this switch for nearly three years now, and the only reason I'm looking it up is because I think I need to replace it, and I'm deciding whether to replace it with an identical model, or an improved one.

Pros: The IOgear kvm switch works really well.Serves the purpose i bought for.

Cons: Will switch back and forth between two outputs if one is in stand by and the other is off and has to be switched back to the active computer when you need to use.not really a big deal now that i know it does it,alittle frustrating at first.

5 out of 5 eggsSlicker than a ice cube on a banana peal

Pros: Been using this for 3 month now, between my main Quad-core machine and my Atom c2700 internet server. Works like charm… DVI Video is sharp, Audio is good. Which ever machine I power up first, it switches too, with out fuss. I haven’t used it with a USB hub … So no help there (sorry)… I did have to tweak a setting, to get my Logitech K350 KB and M510 wireless USB interface to work.. Took some reading of the manual and followed instructions no big deal… But then maybe most the credited goes to Logitech on this one… Never had a bad day with wire-less, since I quit buying MS. Just take some time and think about what you’re doing before you do it… Would I do it again?… In a heart beat!.

Cons: None that I can think of.. Maybe if they could make the romote button - wireless. I d be really impressed.

Pros: 2 computer ops convenience. After correct installation, this KVM works great.

Cons: Too much trial & error was needed that might have been unnecessary with better documentation. I am an owner of an earlier generation IOgear KVM which I really liked and made me not hesitate to go wth this DVI KVM with audio. My troubles related to finiky behavior of my initial cabling. Attempts to use USB to PS2 adapters were not successful. An all USB connection setup cleared up all problems. My earlier KVM only required the double ScrLk to switch machines, and I don't believe there were any other options. Of course, PROGRESS dictates more functionality which this KVM has, and a desperate, closer read of pp 13-15 in Manual made me aware of the need for the ENTER key to complete the signal.

Other Thoughts: Looking forward to many years of convenience.

4 out of 5 eggsIoGear DVI KVM

Pros: It works! Allows me to use my Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 and Asus 23" monitor with my AMD Phenom II x4 955 Win7 system and my Intel Ivy Bridge multiple OS test machine. Will buy a second one when I eventually upgrade these two boxes to dual monitors.

Cons: Beware of using wireless combos. Does not work with my Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 MOUSE. Tried all the connection variations I could think of. Finally just used a wired mouse until I have more time to try other things. There is also switching lag at times: most but not always.

Other Thoughts: The D-sub version of this works fine with the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 mouse/keyboard. Wonder what they did to break that for the DVI version?!!!

4 out of 5 eggsRedeemed, mostly

Pros: Would like to update my last review. Don't know why this was but through swapping slots on the KVM and the usb devices, finally my wireless mouse works and the function keys work again on the keyboard. Not sure why this was needed but it is finally fixed. Documentation and KB still need to be updated to include this information in the manual and the website so folks can get it fixed instead of having to guess and check.

Cons: Documentation is good but could be better. Technical support should provide information pertinent to model instead of just stating "hotkey". KB on website should be easier to search and find what is needed. Seems clunky with trying to find stuff that only pertains to my model of KVM since it shows just about everything.

Other Thoughts: Glad its working and in today's age of cutting corners, I guess I cannot expect much from customer service from product manufacturers.

2 out of 5 eggsA crippled KVM

Pros: DVI video looks good, good keyboard response.

Cons: Does not work with any kind of wireless mouse. I did the whole disabling of mouse emulation, changing mice, power cycling of kvm, and installing new firmware. All to no avail. Strangely, I had no problems with the VGA version of this KVM. Only this DVI version has been problematic.

Other Thoughts: I contacted their support, which was a pain considering their site forces you to the KB and hides their support contact info. Yeah, I get it, I already read the KB several times with nothing that resolves the issue. Their support emailed me back with a one-liner:
"Go into hotkey mode and press [m] [Enter] to disable mouse emulation". Yeah, that's really specific to someone who may have been less technical than I. Anyway that was the first thing I tried - it did not work. Tried it 8 more times, still does not work. All tested mice work fine directly connected.

Really I'm about to say forget their products, return this and go with a different brand. Not the best service either.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Stable
Long cables
Remote switch + Soft (Keyboard) switch
Fast switching

Cons: Does not work with most gaming keyboards
Funny shape - too light to be stable on a desktop.

Other Thoughts: This has been great for me, I switch all day between my work laptop and home computer. Has never failed. Video is solid. Mouse and Keyboard work great...except
Does not work with most gaming keyboards. It *does* work with my Saitek Eclipse II. Sadly, not with any Sidewinder or Razor or Logitech 'boards. That's my only gripe.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little KVM for me

Pros: I've had this KVM for about a year and a half. For me, it has worked great. Only con listed below. I use this on my 2 computers that have DVI video cards and the computers I use and care about most. Works just fine with my Microsoft wireless USB keyboard and mouse and I have absolutely no lag in an action. It would NOT work with my Logitech Bluetooth KB and Mouse though so I just went back to standard USB. I have both my computer up off the ground and close to me so I can't remember on the length of the cables. Just make sure you measure first, buy second.

Cons: The only con I have, and this may well have nothing to do with the KVM and more to do with the computers...but I'm running Win7 on one and XP on the other. They both will sleep. Occasionally, and I do mean only occasionally, the Win7 machine will lose its video. It doesn't seem to happen with the XP machine so I have a hard time saying it's the KVM. I have a new Win7 machine that's been on it for about 3 weeks and it hasn't happened on that one yet.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if they were cheaper but DVI is still up there. I also have a 4port d-sub KVM that's IO Gear and it's also great. My KVM before both of these was another d-sub IO Gear and it lasted about 9 years so overall I've been very happy with their products.

I'm a tech so I get a lot of use out of these. They don't just get switched every so often...they get switched tons.

4 out of 5 eggsGood KVM

Pros: Remote switch is a brilliant idea, letting you stick the actual KVM wherever cabling and other constraints require, while still letting you have the controls at the tip of your fingers without making you memorize keyboard controls.

Cons: Can't run my sound through it (surround sound).
Automatically switches back to machine 1 when I power down machine 2 (which is my primary machine). Annoying, but is probably a deliberate 'feature' since machine 1 is usually 'on' (but asleep).
My new 'gaming' mouse doesn't function properly through this switch (button clicks are fine, but it jitters and doesn't move the cursor properly when I move the device).

Other Thoughts: I'm looking at building an upgrade list of my machine, and the only really major 'con' to my current switch is I'm wanting 2 video outputs and possibly more than 2 machines. I'm happy enough with this one that what I want is a 3+ device version of this KVM, and I'll probably just buy one for each monitor I want to switch. (Bonus there because then I can leave a given monitor on a secondary machine if I want to leave something up, such as Skype / reference materials)
