The GVS78 is an 8-port VGA video splitter and a signal booster with IOGEAR's proprietary VSE (Video Signal Enhancement) Technology. It is the best choice for splitting and carrying a video signal to more that one display with the same quality as the original signal. The GVS78 VGA Video Splitter is used to take video input from a single source and direct it to eight video outputs for monitors using analog signals.

The signal boost obtained by using IOGEAR's VSE (Video Signal Enhancement) Technology allows you to not only split the signal but it also amplifies the video signal to increase the transmission distance to about 215 feet away. This is no small feat, your average VGA card, over a standard VGA cable, sends a clear VGA signal approximately 25 feet.

Operating with a bandwidth of 300MHz (300 million cycles per second) that is 50 times greater than a simple TV signal. The high bandwidth allows for the transmission of large amounts of information at a very high rate of speed, thus allowing for the use of high resolution settings upwards of 1920 x 1440 in 24- or 32-bit true color mode.

Cons: Pay attention to the specs. The video in port is male. This requires an extension cable, coupler, or gender changer to make the required connections, NOT JUST A REGULAR VGA CABLE. Luckily I had one lying around. Other Thoughts: I also had to remove the hex nuts on the video in to make the connection I wanted, but any extension cable (VGA15 M/F) would work on this product without having to remove them. Cons: Not really a con, but the male input dsub connector port has mating hex nuts where the port connects to the female end of the desired output signal cable. I had to remove these nuts to make the connections. Not much of a con, but this will vary depending on what kind of cable you are using. Other Thoughts: I'm an visual artist and I wanted to work with multiple monitor displays for my project. I purchased two of these and using one Y-VGA splitterr from my laptop, I split the connection from the two into both of these 8-port splitters making 16 cloned displays and it worked perfectly.
