Pros: Some negative reviews here dislike this unit because you only gain one USB port: 3 hub ports use 2 on your case. To them I say, you gain three USB ports about 2 feet away from whatever you're plugging it into! My case sits behind my monitors and any time I need to plug in my camera to copy photos, or my phone to charge it, I need to stand up, reach over my monitors, and plug it in. This nifty device saves me from reaching because it's three inches from my mouse pad. That's a huge convenience factor.

Plus, it reads all my memory cards, including a 64 GB SDXC card. I've owned card readers that won't read something that large, so this is very handy. I haven't tried it with multiple cards inserted at once, but considering Windows sees the slots as different drives, I feel it'd work. I run 7-64 bit so there's no need to remove it at startup.

This hub/card reader does not need to be plugged into wall power like a different brand USB 3.0 hub I own does. I suppose you could plug the dedicated power plug into the wall using a USB extension cord and USB-to-wall adapter, if you really need something else plugged directly to your computer, but that seems inconvenient.

Cons: It's not USB 3.0. That was a conscious decision because in this environment, I have no 3.0 devices so I saved cost. It also doesn't order coffee for me or attach the correct cover page on my TPS reports.

Pros: Use it with my Linux boxes and Raspberry PIs and work great

Cons: NONE

Pros: Multiple Data cards can be read...easy to setup!

Cons: Takes two existing USB ports to connect.

Other Thoughts: NOTE: It takes two existing USB ports to connect...one for data transfer and the other seems to be power...so, yes, you get three USB ports on the hub...but ...two on your physical PC are being used. The net gain is only one USB port.

Other Thoughts: I liked this one so much, I'm primarily looking at IOGEAR's 3.0 usb card readers for my new computer. I just wish they made a similar featured card readerfor USB 3.0 with extra plug for power as well as built in Hub.

Pros: Worked fine out the box.

Cons: This is NOT a 3 port hub. It takes 2 USB ports on my system so really only adds a single port. I can't find anywhere in the description where it states that it requires 2 ports. Kind of a waste just to add one port.

Pros: Reads lots of card formats with one small device, fast data transfer compared to cable direct to camera.

STILL WORKING after almost a year of using at least once per week and riding around in a laptop bag (not transported daily), so at least no annoying early failure.

Cons: The cable is a Y-configuration, with two USB plugs (one marked "Power") and a short connector between them. To use it as a hub, both cables need to be plugged in, so the "3-port" hub actually gives you only one extra port. If you have a computer with its USB ports separated by more than a few cm, (e.g. some MacBook Pro models, where one port is on each side of the chassis), you will not be able to plug in both and the hub will not work.

Occasionally, cards do not mount. IIRC, this happens most often if I put the card in the reader, then plug in the cable. In any case, pulling the card out and reinserting it always seems to work. At first, I thought I had to plug in both cables to use the card reader as well, but no, it will read cards with only the data plug inserted.

Slightly confusing: If the user brainlessly plugs in only the Power plug rather than the data plug, it won't read cards. That is more of a meat-ware problem, so I can't blame IOGear

Other Thoughts: I would split my rating to 1-star for the hub and 4-star for the card reader. I really only wanted the card reader function, so I'm happy.

The cable is short, so bad if you want to use it on an under-desk tower, good if you just have it sitting next to a laptop and don't need a big tangle of wire.

Pros: Works if plugged in after computer starts up.

Cons: Hangs the computer on startup, usually when loading Windows. WinXP sp3.
Both cables must be removed and plugged in every time you use one of the card readers, as Windows removes all the card readers every time you safely eject one. This does not happen with the USB ports though.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to give me easily accessable USB ports on the front of my computer as the back ports are hard to access. As I can't leave it plugged in on reboot it is useless to me as I would keep having to plug it in in the back every restart.

Pros: It is inexpensive.

Cons: 1: Included cable is way too short for use on a tower machine that is on the floor. I was hoping to use this on my desk, but the cables don't even get me to the top of my case, let alone my desk.

2: It uses 2 usb ports with a custom cable that plugs into a single miniUSB port on the hub, so I can't even use a replacement cable that is longer. Sure, I could get 2 USB extension cables, but I don't think I should have to. Would a useful length of cable have cost that much?

3: When I plugged in 2 thumb drives and a memory card, only 1 side of the USB devices appeared in Windows (I think it was the 2 thumb drives). I tried again and got the same result. I unplugged the hub, pulled both thumb drives, and plugged it back in (so I only had the SD card) and it showed the 5 drives for the card reader.

Other Thoughts: Normally I have no complaints about IOGear's stuff. Sadly, in this case, I can find no compliment.

Cons: Read the tech specifications for the 45-in-1 Card Reader - it supports iterations of SD cards, but that's about it. It also uses two USB ports on your computer, so you have a net gain of only 1 USB port.

Cons: The only reason I'm giving it 4 eggs is design. I don't like having ports on all sides of the device, I would rather have all the inputs in front.
