2 out of 5 eggsOpened box

Pros: Newegg sent me one and i can still use it.

Cons: 1. I buy it as new but i got an used one. Everything in and out have been opened while arrived. Item is dirty. Then I found out I can't plug the VGA head into my PC because a pin in the VGA head have been folded all the way down from the half. 2. Doesn't have a switch button. 3. User manual is terrible. Too difficult to get use of it .

Other Thoughts: I fixed it by took off the upper half bad pin and finally it looks work ok but I'm afraid of it.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsI'd highly recommend the iogear GCS72U...

Pros: I bought two of these when they were less than 25 bucks. I wouldn't give 15 bucks for them after owning them.

I decided to give iogear another try and bought the GCS72U, regular price ~25 bucks. It is the KVM you are most likely looking for. It works flawlessly with my Microsoft sidewinder X4, Logitech G110 and G105 keyboards, as well as my Logitech G300 mouse. No emulation in that KVM, unlike this model. Don't make the same mistake I did by buying this model if you want a no frills KVM that will work with something other than a basic 3 button mouse and have more than 102 keys on your beyboard.

Cons: While I 'thought' this model was working OK with the MS sidewinder KB as well as the Logitech G110 KB, I have recently begun to experience some issues such as everything on a website getting highlighted at random when I click a link or randomly completely losing keyboard control when in a game. I was thinking this one was working 'good enough' to get by, but I believe now I'll just return them and buy another GCS72U.

Other Thoughts: This model advertises and comes with 3' cables. The GCS72U advertises 3' cables, but actually mine came with 4' cables, which to me was just an added bonus. The GCS72U uses a button to swtich between PC's as opposed to this one which has a hotkey to switch (double tap the scroll lock). This one also has several other hotkey combos to turn other functions on/off. Too complicated and doesn't work with gaming keyboards, the GCS72U does.

3 out of 5 eggsGot G300 mouse to work

Pros: amend

Cons: It says it emulates the mouse and keyboard by default. There are hotkeys to turn off the emulation. Turning off the mouse emulation allowed the G300 to function, and it seems to function correclty, except that it will not work with the scroll wheel double click to change the KVM from one machine to another.

I tried turning off the emulation for the Sidewinder keyboard, but this renders the keyboard inoperable.

It does appear to work with the Logitech G110 gaming keyboard, at least the audio keys will work on the G110.

The directions mention orange/green lighting, but mine only has Red/Green lighting and Iogear had no knowledge of the Red. With the data cable hooked up, there was some orange light activity.

Other Thoughts: Turning off the mouse emulation has them functioning good enough to not bother with the expense of returning for something else.

Manufacturer Response:

First, thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. In order for hot key operation and instantaneous recognition of the keyboard and mouse when switching computers, our KVMs emulate a standard wired 102 key keyboard and wired generic 2-button scroll wheel mouse. We can not guarantee the use of wireless (including Bluetooth), multifunction, gaming, integrated card readers, or programmable keyboards and mice. This KVM also requires a mouse and keyboard be connected to their respective console ports, so we cannot guarantee the use of docking stations, port replicators or USB / PS2 adapters. To better service you and understand your set up, please feel to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: support@iogear.com. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR

1 out of 5 eggsToo good to be true

Pros: Looks nice, handles audio as well as.... well, now to the cons

My adivce, go with something else. I'm sending these back and will try the roswell model.

Cons: I wanted to use this to switch between an Asus Z77 Sabertooth PC and a ASRock Z77 Extreme4 PC. I wasn't planning to use the VGA as I have one PC connected to the Asus V248H monitor via HDMI, the other via DVI.

I wanted a decent gaming mouse, I chose the Logitech G300. For Keyboard I chose the Microsoft SidewinderX4.

Well, it works with the keyboard, kind of. It allowed the KB to be detected, drivers installed and windows downloaded the sidewinder software automatically. The basic keyboard functions, function fine. The extra gaming keys and the audio control keys do not work through this KVM.

The Logitech G300 will not work through this KVM period, end of story.

I had a wireless Logitech mouse, M210, that would work. That is, if you consider any move you make with the mouse resulting in the pointer moving up or down in the center of the screen, that's it. (this was on the ASRock MB, wouldn't work at all on the Asus).

Also had a wireless Logitech mouse M185, it worked

Other Thoughts: ASRock, but would not work at all on the Asus as well either.

All of the mice mentioned here work perfectly when connected directly to either PC.

The SidewinderX4 works perfectly from either PC, directly connected and the gaming keys and audio keys function perfectly as well.

Yes, the cable are a meter long, but that was OK for my setup. Too bad this thing is so picky on mice.

It has a black USB and a purple USB header. The black is for the data operation of this device only. If you install the software, you don't get the annoying device notification upon every bootup if you plug the black USB cable in, I simply chose to leave it unplugged. Purple operates both keyboard and mouse. But apparently not very well.

Going to send both units back (bought two on sale, both work as I describe here). Going to try the Roswell, shoulda went with it anyway!

This is my first negative review of the many items I've bought on here. It's irritating such a product is put out to ma

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. IOGEAR does make KVM switches that will work with gaming keyboards and mice. These KVM’s are marked with a G after the model number. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

1 out of 5 eggsCables are to short - Design Flaw

Pros: nice appearance

Cons: Cables are only3 feet long would be OK if you computer was side by side, Mine is not makes it almost impossible to connect to one inside cabinet and one on desktop!

Other Thoughts: if they packaged a 6 ft extension to the cable it would make it more usable!

5 out of 5 eggsPlug And Play

Pros: Works with my gaming keyboard and mouse. Plug and Play, worked very smoothly and works perfectly with my set up! Not much more I could ask for!

Cons: None! .. well the cables might be a little short.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried the file transfer option yet. It basically loads a virtual disk into the computer and has the software running all the time in the toolbar.
