1 out of 5 eggsThe cables are $500 EXTRA!!

Pros: Well.. I have no idea. Spent close to $600 and I cant hook it up as I got 2 KVM cables. Yes , you read that right. Youll spend $600 for an 8 port kvm and get 2 cables!!! They DO have the complete kit with 8 kvm cables and its $1000!! Thats like buying a new car with 1 wheel, the other 3 wheels are extra and will double the price of the car ..LOL!!!

Cons: 2 custom kvm cables are what youll get for a $600 switch .. is this a sick joke?!?!?

Other Thoughts: What a joke!!! The other 6 cables are $500?!?!?!!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid build quality with metal case; Lower price point relative to other 8-port DVI KVM products; Good interoperability with my devices; Front panel switches are intuitive and easy to use relative to other models.

Cons: Unit is sluggish when switching ports relative to other IOGear Models. The unit spends several seconds displaying the selected port number before the switchover occurs. Would have given the unit 5 eggs if not for this switching delay. I don't need to see the port number displayed during a switch and hope the switch delay can be fixed in a future firmware load.

New Egg shipped the product in its own box. The decorative exterior sleeve was torn during shipping but the interior double-wall corrugated container was sound.

Other Thoughts: I have had good experience with the higher cost IOGear KVMs, including VGA and DVI models. There are a limited number of 8-port DVI KVM switches in the market. I had been waiting for this model to be released to the market in the USA due to its lower price point.

My configuration consists of a Dell 1200x1600 DVI monitor. Hosts connected to the KVM switch include a Windows XP PC, Windows 7 64Bit PC, Windows 7 64 bit Laptop, and a Fedora 11 server. The Fedora works great. The Lenovo laptop was finicky and I needed to swap to a second port to get the laptop to properly recognize the USB mouse and keyboard. Interoperability to these devices is good and the screen image is solid. I am using the 6-foot KVM cables. The model has an extensive administrative menu called up by hitting the scroll lock key twice and cancelled with the ESC key. The admin screen snaps open and closes promptly. I made no adjustments and left the unit at the default settings.
