5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected!

Pros: The proprietary cables really cut down on wire clutter. The push button selection method is much better than what we had before, where you had to cycle through ALL machines to get to the one you wanted.

Unit didn't require a reboot when adding a new mouse or keyboard!

Cons: None that I can think of or mention.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this product to others. It has been a great addition to our rack thus far by saving us time and rack space!

Definitely a great buy.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable Rackmount KVM

Pros: So far I have good experience with many Linkskey products. Good product at affordable price. Hooked up the KVM with 3 PCs and so far it's working flawlessly. Video quality is superb, no issues whatsoever.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to purchase cables. It would be nice to use one of console usb port for other usb devices.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding product

Pros: Product as described, works great. Connected to 6 servers w/o the need of rebooting. Keyboard/Mouse interface is universal on console and PC sides which is why I bought this model over their competitors.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a switch only product, so do not forget to purchase the KVM cables. For the purpose this product serves, it is a small investment with an extremely high return on the investment

1 out of 5 eggsUSB port dead

Pros: Cheap, 8 ports, recognized by Server 2008, Vista and 7. Works perfectly the first 8 months.

Cons: The mouse port went dead after 8-10 months of having the kvm. Tried different mice, different pc's, no results.

Other Thoughts: I'm not the only one with the dead usb port problem. Do not buy this brand. Stick to recognized ones. You get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: 8-port Rackmount USB KVM
Works great, power over connected USB/PS/2 or from its own external power supply.
Red LED show powered on connected computers, green LED shows selected port

Cons: Requires Proprietary Cables (Sold Seperately)

2 out of 5 eggsfrustrated kvm user

Pros: Quick change and fast switching of connected computers.

Cons: This is a follow up of my previous review. After extensive testing it appears this KVM will not sense 8600 GTS Nividia and 7900 GT Nividia cards. You have to disconnect the monitor from the KVM, attach it to the VGA port on the computer. Once the monitor senses and shows the display then disconnect the monitor VGA and reattach to the KVM switch. Any USB connection will cause the display to fail and the above procedure must be repeated. A reboot will cause the same problem. Customer service is polite and shipped a RMA unit quickly but offers little/no technical support to resolve this issue.

So if your computer does not work, then as long as you don't reboot or attach a USB device, it's reliable. Don't wait a while to test this is you may decide to RMA the device because it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: Here is a recap of connected computers.

1. Windows 2003 1920x1080 WHS with GeForce FX5200 Reliable Switching
2. Windows XPDell Latitude D630 Laptop1 1920x1080 Reliable Switching
3. Windows XP Laptop2 1920X1080 Dell Latitude D630 Reliable switching
4. Windows 7 Home Premium 1920x1080 Reliable switching and survive reboots using HD5770 Video card
5. Windows 7 Professional 1920x1080 Changing to or using 1920x1080 results in sensing failure using Nvidia 8600 GTS card
6. Windows XP 1920x1080 Changing to or using 1920x1080 results in sensing failure using Nvidia 7900 GT video card

PS... I added an egg because it does work, but not reliably with all computers

1 out of 5 eggsWorks great when it works

Pros: Easy to use, keyboard switching of computers

Cons: Doesn't work reliably. Has a problem sensing resolutions higher than 1600x1200 when changed after boot. Windows 7 computer displays fine until changing resolutiion to 1920x1080, then blank screen and no keyboard or mouse response. Connections to laptops are iffy, sometimes it works, many times it doesn't.

Other Thoughts: Resolving why one KVM port is dead on using one computer but alive on another is an exercise in frustration. I have spent 20 hours on what should be a plug and play device... Posting this as a marker for getting money back if this cannot be resolved.

Have requested another unit from the vendor. Will post update if this is resolved.

By the way this is LINKSKEY, not LINKSYS.

2 out of 5 eggsSomewhat Blurry Video

Pros: Switches well

Cons: Video resolution is not on par with my IOGear KVM. Somewhat blurry with Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I'm returning it for an IOGear. Plus, another reviewer said his unit caught fire. Enough to get me to return mine.

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty keyboard USB port

Pros: Reasonably priced, cabling is simple and affordable.

Cons: The original unit shipped by Newegg, I found to have a defective and dead USB keyboard input. Initially I was using the PS/2 interface and didn't notice this. I had thrown the original box and materials away so I had to contact Linkskey themselves for a replacement. The replacement I received from them also had a faulty USB port (I confirmed this by using two known good usb keyboards, resetting the unit, etc.) The port on the replacement wasn't totally dead, but worked so intermittently as to make the port unusable.

Other Thoughts: I'm already paying for return shipping on the original replacement and do not want to keep paying to return faulty unit after faulty unit. I have the keyboard running on the PS/2 port with an adapter, and that'll work fine for now. I am reluctant to buy another product from these folks, however.

4 out of 5 eggsnot too shabby

Pros: just works. uses usb connection for keyboard and mouse the machines. console keyboard and mouse can be either ps/2 or usb. price for kvm and cabling for connections were very reasonable.

Cons: can't daisy chain

Other Thoughts: it's been in the server room for two weeks now with no issues... other than the fact that it is already to capacity.
