A KVM switch (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) is a major boon to anyone who has to work with more than one computer. You can change computers without having to give up the keyboard and monitor you're already using, sometimes via the keyboard itself. Imagine the space and money you'll save, only having to buy one monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

The TRENDnet TK-208K is a 2-port PS/2 KVM switch that lets you manage two PCs with just one keyboard, monitor, mouse, microphone and a set of speakers. Separate sets of KVM cables are included for easy installation and providing power to the KVM switch, eliminating the need for a power adapter.

  • newegg Control Two PCs via One Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse Share one monitor, PS/2 keyboard, mouse, microphone and speakers between two compatible computers using the TRENDnet TK-208K 2-Port KVM switch. The built-in VGA/SVGA connector supports monitors with resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536.
  • newegg Easy Switch between PCs Easily switch from a computer to another by using the keyboard hotkeys, hardware push button or switching software (for windows).
  • newegg AutoScan With the AutoScan feature, scan and monitor the activities of all operating computers connected to the TRENDnet TK-208K 2-Port KVM switch.

3 out of 5 eggsnot Win8 Compatible

Pros: Worked excellently with WinXP and Win7 systems

Cons: Did not work correctly with Win8 system

Other Thoughts: When using this switch on a Win8 system, when computer restarts (shutdown, reboot after autoupdates, etc.) I get an error at startup- can't even make it to Windows. I had to physically unplug keyboard and mouse from KVM, connect directly to system, restart and once it was up, reconnect to KVM. It'd work just fine after that- until next time system needed to restart.

3 out of 5 eggsgood but wrong for my app

Pros: Used for monitoring my XP computer and Linux server. Works with one monitor great. Only gave a 3 rating as I could not verify the mouse or keyboard.

Cons: My Dell has only USB for KB/Mouse and this is a PS2 version. Tried to use USB to PS2 adapters but neither Kb or Mouse worked with those hooked up to this unit.

Other Thoughts: Should have bought the USB version...

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Packaged in a nice box?

Cons: Item arrived DOA. No video or audio. Indicators did not light up. Had to send it back for replacement which hasn't arrived yet.

Other Thoughts: TRENDnet's telephone Tech Support is very poor. After holding on for about 45 minutes, I hung up and requested an RMA from Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsworks, mostly

Pros: Works fine, except for the mic (see Cons). Hotkey switching is nice and rapid.

Cons: Mic port doesn't work. (Returned one and the second did the same.) Ports on four sides; this makes it difficult to place.

Other Thoughts: Replaced it when I got a new keyboard that didn't support PS/2.

5 out of 5 eggsI keep buying them

Pros: These Trendnet KVMs have been a great deal. Very nice price and includes cables. I purchased one of their 4 ports over a year ago. I purchased this 2 port for my wife 5 months ago and it has been flawless. My company even bought 20 of them for our sandbox area.

Cons: Not particularly fond of the color, but because of the keyboard command to switch between PCs I can keep it out of sight.

Other Thoughts: Out of the 20 or so at work that we have, there is bound to be a quirk here and there with some hardware. We have several different brands, and these quirks are with almost any KVM you get.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable product

Pros: Nice design. Beautiful color. Easy to install.

Cons: Worked one time. After I switched to 2nd computer, it freezed my 1st computer screen. Only worked with one computer.

Other Thoughts: Find other brand. Low price = cost more.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Works perfectly. Instructions are very clear although anyone who rates themselves as having a high understanding should not even need instructions. hotkey sequence is perfect as-is and I notice no variations in video quality or mouse movement. I had reservations when using an adapter to change my usb optical mouse to ps/2, but it was no problem at all. Especially for the price, this is a great bargain.

Cons: the device with everything plugged in takes up some space. Would be nice if plugins were on top, but it's not that big a deal. They would then have to make the switch bigger to do that anyway.

Other Thoughts: Take advantage of this switch right now and get a Ten Dollar rebate from TRENDnet! You can hardly go wrong here.
